 Congratulations on the new mega ultra low (or wherever we´ve got to so far, it may even have quantum in it).

Well it didn't take long, 169.5 this morning so I'm officially in the 160s.

There is no real way of knowing because I didn't pay all that close of attention back then, but that number above isn't just a new low since starting the weight loss program. The lowest I ever remember my scale weight being as an adult was 170 back when I was about 20 years old and working as a bike messenger. I know that one time I managed to just barely squeeze into size 32 jeans as an adult and that I fit into them now quite comfortably (it's pretty much dead on the right size).

So I'm just going to call this the "ultra new low" in that I believe that this is the least I've ever weighed since reaching my adult height.

8.5 pounds to go before we move on to phase 2. Considering where I was in July 2012, the idea that I'd ever find it necessary to need to _gain_ weight is just astonishing to me.

I'm jealous. I haven't weighed under 170 lbs since...hmm...6th grade, I think.

Good job though. That's crazy.

I DID IT! Well I guess you helped.

Seriously though, super awesome astounding achievement! I will confess now that you've done it that even when you'd explained why you wanted to get down to the 160s I had my doubts about whether that was possible for you. You just looked so skinny a lot of pounds ago. I have zero doubt that you will get to 161.

HELL YEAH!

I hope you can cope with a fan club,
because you have one...
"for better or for worse"...
We are it :D

I think we might need a video of you proving you're not a machine. haha. Great job, Vee! :)
I realize this is a repeat, but Quercus will enjoy it so I"M NOT A MACHINE:

170.5 this morning. A friend I hadn't seen in a few months called me and wanted to hang out last night, and that sounded like a good way to keep me busy. Managed to continue to lay off the beer, but couldn't get away without eating something so I tried to just have some celery sticks. Eventually I was forced to actually eat something, so I got some grilled chicken wings and that put me over calories obviously but hopefully not too much.

Anyway cardio this morning so I better get to it. Thinking sprint intervals.

Date on Sunday, may or may not ask for fashion advice later today...

You tell em Henry! Henry Rollins is actually a very inspiring punk figure for those trying to be healthy. Granted his solo career was no Black Flag, but this song is good inspiration if not the best song.

Grilled chicken wings = sodium bomb I imagine, so no surprise with the uptick. Enjoy your sprint intervals!

Hope your sprints went well! (hmm, it's just about midnight here and there suddenly is a dog barking somewhere in my apartment building, that I can hear from my bedroom. That's unusual. Sorry random tangent)

Ok, I can't give you more rep yet, but I had to let you know - YES, YES, YES!!!

Henry Rollins is one of my all-time favorite people in the world. He has said so many beautiful things in his lifetime that one could literally write an epic about the words that have come out of his mouth. ANYWHO...

My favorite Rollins quote is "Hope is the last thing a person does before they are defeated."

Outstanding V!!!! You're into new territory, which is a result of your hard work and dedication. You're very inspiring for me as I'm on the front end of a similar quest.

172 this morning, 171 yesterday. Hopefully it will start to go back down, but the month long trend is still 1.8 pounds a week so all is well.

In better news, I lifted again today and was able to complete all my sets on bench at the same weight that caused the roll of shame last week. There could be a lot of reasons for that, but I'll just assume it's a good sign and move on.

Gotta go call my parents. So long.

You are truly inspiring.
Congratulations on all that you've achieved.
I can't imagine how it must feel to be so close to your goal.

I've skimmed through very many of the pages of your diary. Sir, your journey has been one of astonishing success.
You are so dedicated and your diary is a fascinating read. I cannot imagine how it must feel to have lost so much weight.
Yours must be one of the greatest success stories ever. Congratulations on reaching your ultra new low weight. I hope I can enjoy similar success to you some day.
When you say you will need to gain weight in phase two, is that to do with muscle weight or something else? Please could you explain. Thanks.

Hey carrie__,

Greetings to all my fans in Bournemouth. Up the Cherries!!

Yeah when I get to 161, the idea will be to add muscle. The problem with dropping this much weight is that you wind up with the dreaded "loose skin" issue that often comes with it. Now fortunately mine's not nearly as bad as some cases I've seen, but it's there. Having read up on it, the two things that mitigate it somewhat are: surgery, and low body fat percentage. The first is expensive and painful and I view that as a last resort. The second depends a lot on how much lean muscle mass you've retained while losing the weight. As it stands now, even down at 161, I probably don't have enough to get my body fat percentage down where I'd like it to be. But it's also very difficult to add muscle mass and lose fat at the same time. So the idea is to lose fat first then add the muscle (and you can then hope maybe you can add a little muscle during the first part if you're very lucky). Then ultimately I may "rinse and repeat" as I don't want to go below 160 pounds as that's just too small for me. (at 5'11" a weight of 161 is a 22.5 BMI).

Unfortunately my weight has now gone up for the 4th straight day and is 172.5 today. I'm still not really worried as last week's streak of the weight flying off of me was very unusual, particularly for someone who just doesn't have all that much weight to lose. This is likely all fluid weight. Also I wore my new size 32 jeans yesterday and they fit just fine.

Also today is cardio day and that usually means that the excess fluid tends to get sucked right out of me. So off I go.

Great job on the size 32 jeans!! That silly scale. Can be a pain in the bum! but can also be encouraging depending!
