Looking to lose an extra human I apparently picked up along the way

Truck along. :) What is the body fat % you're shooting for again (if there is a goal there)? You must be nearing it by now!

Wanna get below 12% at the least. I realize that's ambitious, but that's what goals are for.

Nothing at all wrong with setting goals that are ambitious! Sometimes we need that extra bit to reach for. You're not that far off and I'm confident that you'll get there. :)

174.5 this morning. I don't remember if that's a new low, but it's at least close and it's at least a new low in the last few months.

Taking my car into the dealer today to prevent the whole "burst into flames" thing. Hopefully I'll arrive there flame free.

Lifting later today.

Phoenix Vee would have been interesting if you hadn´t been reborn recently anyway, so I´ll just hope along with you :)

Presented without comment. On a video kick lately...

175.5 this morning.

The difficulty in behaving myself on Friday nights as I try to socialize has probably been my biggest challenge throughout all of this. Nobody likes the guy sitting at the bar drinking water and Diet Cokes, but the good news is it means I don't have to worry about driving. I wanted it to be a shorter evening than it was, but my buddy was having a good time as we were chatting up random strangers so I just tried to keep things under control.

Treadmill work at 11:30 at night seems excessive and it probably is, but while I'm going so good, I just don't want too many setbacks. It's not a long term solution.

A big work conference (in town) starts next Thursday and so a bunch of buddies who I only get to see once or twice a year will be in. It's going to make for some long evenings unfortunately. It's also going to cut into my availability to exercise as the conference tends to run all day with a break for lunch. I'll see if my gym has a location downtown. It's not so much to use the equipment as I can always jog downtown. But I'd need somewhere to shower and change. I can skip out on one of the talks each day as long as it really doesn't involve my work. The truth is the only important thing work wise is for folks to see that I'm there. The point being, drinking on the job is usually frowned upon. But this week it's somewhat mandatory...

If I can come away a week from today no higher than the 175.5 I am right now, I'll be ecstatic.

I was thinking: o, you look tired here - ah, nope, no, not tired :) I used to do this and it felt oddly satisfying. Stuck with the elliptical though, probably wouldn´t have kept my balance on the treadmill...

I used to be a heavy drinker...very heavy. The last 3 years I just hardly ever drink, and if I do it's very light. I'm not sure why, not a conscious thing, just older and wiser I guess. When I've lost weight before drinking was always a struggle, but now I don't even think about it. I've got 1 beer in my fridge that's been there for months, and that's the only alcohol in the house. Since I've been on the bike and diet, I did have a few vodka and club sodas at a meeting one night, but I worked them into my daily calories.

If you go to the bar and don't want to consume but also don't want to look like you're not consuming, order a vodka and club soda with limes and then just have them keep topping it off with more club soda. It's 0 cal. You'll look like you're banging them down all night and still be good to drive home and feel like working out in the morning. Win-win.

Don't assume that 'nobody likes the guy sitting at the bar drinking water and diet coke'. I wouldn't mind that at all, in fact I would probably prefer it. Certainly prefer it to a guy half falling off the bar drunk.
I can't believe you have the energy to go on the treadmill at 11:30 at night! I know I certainly couldn't make myself do that! Kudos.

Do you think it's that people will think you're a party pooper if you don't drink, or do you think you will feel like a party pooper if you don't drink? I find most people don't really take much notice. I feel that I relax & enjoy myself if I have a few drinks, but once was accused of being the drunkest at a party & I hadn't had one drink. Enjoy your week & if the scales are not good, you will lose it just as quickly anyway. You've got that sorted now.

Hi there Vee!

Watched the dessert video. I like the input and you have a good easy manner in the video and a mild accent.

BCAA: These are a subset of essential amino acids (amino acids that the body can't make). They are in everything. Meat, dairy, beans, rice, corn, and other stuff. There is no doubt that BCAAs are critical for muscle recovery and growth. There is also some role in fat burning. The questions are do you already get enough or will excess speed recovery/muscle growth/fatloss? You need to be careful to stay hydrated with supplementation as oxidation of BCAAs uses up water in the body. Aside from that the risks appear low. There is evidence that it helps, but I would try it and see if you notice a difference.

I agree with Mystic and Cate. I personally find drinking rather unattractive. I guess I wouldn't mind seeing a guy drink a few beers, but I've never once sought out to find someone who's drinking. Someone clean and sober is what I prefer. When my aunt took me out for my 21st birthday to a bar I had the same complaint, but in the opposite direction. I was concerned that guys wouldn't find me interesting because I don't drink (I was also heavier at the time, but that's beside the point). She told me a bar isn't really the place to meet a guy anyway and I totally believe that! Around here it seems that the guys at a bar are looking for one thing and I'm sure you know what that one thing is. This may sound cheesy, but maybe look into going to some meet up groups and see what happens. If you're into photography as an example, go find a photography meet group to join and shoot with other photogs. You might find what you're looking for without even looking. :)

Hey MrVee!! Loving the videos, I would totally do one too but I think my Aussie accent would grate on everyones ears and no one needs that :D

Well done on the new low! I don't have much to contribute to the alcohol discussion though, I tend to just avoid situations that involve alcohol which is probably pretty silly but I don't want to actively do something that would interfere with a personal goal. I don't really want to use my cheat meal on alcohol either... so unless it's a really special occasion it's just not going to happen. Easier for me I guess though, husband doesn't drink much and housemate isn't allowed to drink with his meds... just got to find some balance. If you can't give it up, just decide one day a week you'll allow yourself 4 drinks (or whatever number you're comfortable with) and just be strict with yourself the rest of the week. It's not forever, it's just while you have a goal you're trying to achieve. Same with how you eat now, it's not forever, you're temporarily being strict on yourself until you reach your goal and then you can loosen the reigns (a little) when you're ready to maintain.

Been a long time since I read this thread, you're still one of the most impressive and inspiring person in here Mr Vee :) Congrats

Apparently I need to check out the videos! I'll do it during my lunch break today.
