Looking to lose an extra human I apparently picked up along the way

Steak's pretty easy, a digital food thermometer is your best friend. And look up how to cook the specific cut if you're saving money based on cut (London broil is tough by nature, and there are ways to soften it up. Ribeye needs nothing other than to be medium-rare!)

Have a good game!

I'm actually pretty good at the touch method with steaks. I generally don't bother with london broil or other tougher cuts because they come in bigger sizes and it's just me. I'll go as cheap as top sirloin. The chuck eye steak may be my favorite as its big drawback (by necessity they are kinda small) actually fits nicely in my "serves one" lifestyle. Otherwise it's like a ribeye only half the cost.

1 hour and 35 minutes and 24 seconds of basketball today at an average heart rate of 148 (peak of 176). That comes to 1437 calories burned total and 1288 net. Plus my car is oil changed up and I heard back from a client who might have more work for me. Also sunny and 76 degrees. Today falls under the "not so bad" category so far.

And I am celebrating with ribs; my one dinner that probably goes over calories, but obviously I have a few to play with right now. Usually with ribs I skip dessert and that gets me at least close to where I need to be. But tonight I think I'll have dessert too.

That's a lot of basketball!! Go you!

Haha I always feel so guilty when I have my cheat meals... which I really need to stop, because it usually causes me to not have everything I want, then I end up having a bad day/meal off plan. So I hope you enjoyed your ribs and your dessert!!

If I eat ribs it means that I am in one of a tiny handful of rib joints that I make an allowance for not being vegan. I generally have more ribs for dessert. The best ribs I've eaten are at Florida's Kitchen. Florida makes a mean German chocolate cake, but I have only tasted it. Ribs, when done to my liking are my favorite food. Fortunately I live no where near good ribs and I refuse to learn to make them myself for the sake of my pants buttons. Early last year I ran after eating an entire rack of ribs from Florida's Kitchen. That was the last time I had them. Coincidence? No.

I wish I liked/could play any damn sport. My gym has a basketball court, but I would break myself. Congratulations on being able to burn that many calories without dying/crippling yourself. 4,262 calories burned (2,724 net) in 2 sessions. Good grief!

The knocks and bruises and pulls and pains and soreness have gone down pretty much in line with my weight. *knocks on wood*

177.5 this morning with an odd 18.7% body fat reading. The body fat gadget I'm going to pay very little attention to until I get a whole bunch of readings. Hoping to let a large sample help me get some signal from what seems like a very noisy set of numbers.

Going to take the nicest of my old clothes to an upscalish second hand clothing store. I got a Canali dress shirt there for $35 once, so if a few of my things sell, I'll be able to get some quality stuff for nothing. If it doesn't, well at least it will be out of my house. One thing I have learned there is that you must try everything on as the sizes are often way wrong.

Legs day today on the workout. Have made it before, but am cooking this for dinner tonight (probably with rice and some broccoli):

Well it has only been 6 days. :)

Not going to lie in someone else´s diary: I had some mean ribs in november :p
When ribs are good, they´re heaven, when they´re not they´re among the saddest things people can put on a plate. I need to gather the girls for a rib-outing soon.

Sounds like a great day V, except for the ribs. I really dislike pork. Even the smell makes me feel a bit queasy. Your basketball work-out sounds excellent & you must be so fit these days. I still have a way to go there, but am working on it. I might get a HR monitor, as you suggested. I played 18 holes of golf yesterday in the heat & that was a great work-out. I am so hungry today though, but am trying to ignore the stomach rumbles.....

Confession...

I have never eaten ribs. Actually, don't even think I've seen them on a menu anywhere here! Just don't really think they're a thing in Aus!

Cate: you can have beef ribs too... they´re bigger and can taste just as well! Even had chicken "ribs" once out of curiosity but those were a cheat (rearranged wings in case you´re wondering).

Beef or pork ribs? This is a very important question.

Also, congrats on your progress Mr. Vee! Your entire thread is so motivational to me.

Usually pork ribs (and almost always back ribs). I only did beef ribs in the slow cooker once. I had about 10 frozen half slabs in my freezer from various holiday sales, but they're all gone now. I think I'll lay off for a while now as they were by far my most caloriffic dinner.

And thank you, Cory. If I manage to help anyone on here, I'd be so happy. I just hope I don't hinder anyone.

177.5 again this morning, 18.2% on the body fat monitor. Cardio day, but probably not basketball as I'm a little stretched for time.

Really getting lots and lots of important stuff done this week and if I can just secure more work for myself (and therefore more money), I will have started off 2015 about as well as I could have hoped. Ironically, hard work and focus actually makes me feel better than slacking off, so I'm not sure what the appeal of the latter is...

Lucy's concept of "perfect days" has become big with me as I think it's a nice motivator and a little bit of a mental reward when you do what you're supposed to. I had strung several of those days together.

However I did not have a perfect day today. Was perfect up until 5 pm, wound up going out (no problem yet) had a nice baked shrimp dinner (no problem yet), and then hung out for a long while and had 5 light beers (problem). 480 calories that ain't supposed to be there.

Solution? Fitness room at my complex, for my second cardio workout of the day. Tipsy (though not really, it was 10 pm by then) treadmill time. 47 minutes and 44.38 seconds at an average heart rate of 138 equals 646 calories burned with a 572 net. Still very upset with myself for the slip up, but at least I tried to make up with it.

I am going to lose the last of this weight. Whatever it takes.

177 this morning, 18.0% on the body fat monitor.

Strength training today, working chest and back mostly.

Hey MrVee! At least you went and burned it off immediately. I can hardly handle a treadmill when I'm sober though, coordination sucks and that trippy feeling when you actually stop and get off the treadmill... can't imagine trying to handle that tipsy. Haha.

You're gunna get there MrVee, honestly a 480 cal slip is going to be nothing in the long run and really should hardly affect your week at all. It's only going to add up if you have a 480cal slip every day. Brush it off, start a new run of perfect days!!! I'm aiming for 7 this week, you can do it too!!!
