Lisa's Final Countdown, The Good Days, the Bad, & the Ugly

Today's food

Breakfast- lean quisine flat bread sandwich-330 cals

Lunch-none

Dinner-
2 battered fish, fries, tarter sauce - 1094 cals
1 broccoli bite (hubby ate the rest) - 44 cals

total so far-1468

I had a banana at work last night so that brings my calories to 1570. I wasn't super hungry but I was starting to feel twinges and after the banana I was fine. I know I can eat 2000 calories a day but I'm trying to not eat just because I can and there's calories left. I figured yesterday will make up for a day if I go over later on and it'll average out.

Today so far I've eaten another flatbread sandwich for breakfast and couldn't get lunch again. I got off work and had class then a doctor's appt. so currently I'm eating a plum fast because I have to got out again to the computer shop about my computer. So guess I'm going to have plenty of room for a nice dinner, lol.

I'll trade my Mother in for my MIL anyday. I actually get along with her...

My mom has mellowed ALOT and I live 3000 miles away, that helps, lol. My MIL is just down the street. As long as I don't take anything personal it's ok though...she drives my husband and her daughter more crazy then she does me anymore. Hurt me deliberately once and that's pretty much it. I keep my guard up after that. Notice I said deliberately though :) I'm a pretty forgiving person, so that says something about the MIL.

Woops Paula...I think I was posting same time as you then I logged. I didn't see your post....but yep that's definitely a blessing.

So today....all my talk and I went and had chinese food for dinner. I was stressed and hungry and went to a buffet. The problem with that is it's really hard to figure out calories that way but from looking online and estimating calories for each thing, my dinner totaled around 1800 calories. Of course I'm guessing so it could be less or more but I overestimated everything and guessed on the high end so hopefully not more. That with the lean cuisine (330) I had this morning would bring me to 2130. I really don't think I was over that.

So I think no more chinese food buffet but there has to be a way to have chinese food once in a while and figure out the calories more closely than I did online.

Anyway on the upside I went to my doctor today and of course they always make ya hop on the scale. Theirs always weighs a few pounds heavier, they've always said. So I hop on fully clothed, shoes and already had eaten that day and see 331.2. So after that big dinner I just ate I got on the scale at home just now...328.2, so I'm excited because I've lost weight...I just don't know how much for sure. Unfortunately I have class again tomorrow and won't be able to weigh myself first thing in the morning after sleeping and no breakfast until Friday. Well all the more incentive for me to behave the rest of the week, lol.

I'm so happy that you are losing weight! Good luck on Friday's weigh in. Don't worry about that chinese buffet... it will fall off again in no time. Just keep strong girlie.

it's easier to calculate calories in chinese food when it's takeout as opposed to buffet style especially since buffets tend to use huge plates.

Are you remembering to measure yourself dear since that shows results much faster and better than the scale.

Hey Lisa, great news with the weigh-in. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you keep those results when you hop back on the scale on Friday(though I'll really be hoping that you'll have gone down even more than that, cuz that's just awesome ;) )
As far as chinese food goes, you should be able to figure out a better estimate for calories if you can order take out and mesure servings at home(just until you can eyeball the right ammount) at that point, buffets shouldn't be too hard. just stick to portion sizes and types of food that you've been able to find the nutrition info on. I'm a sucker for Hot and Sour soup and Mushroom chow mein. drives Matt nuts since he hates both of em :D
HOpe you have a good day to day hun. Take care!!!

Brandy!! You are SO pretty! I Love your new avatar :D Of course you don't look very amused though, lol. Thanks for the encouragement, you're right.

Well I tried once but because I gain all my weight in my stomach and I'm so big it is really difficult to measure myself and also to remember where I did last time so that it's in the same place to be accurate. And hubby is no help...I've asked him and he's worse than me. I figure I'll start using the tape measure later on when I can actually get it around. I can tell my clothes feel a bit looser though.

Thanks Shandy, you and ladyumbra are both right on the take out. I do have a food scale so online when it says gram portions I could actually figure it out. And yea I could learn to keep track at a buffet but chinese food buffet and breakfast buffets are the two places I wouldn't be able to stick to certain things, lol. So it's going to have to be once in a while, I've figured that out.

I had dinner with my parents last night; dad wanted to go to a Chinese buffet but I insisted on going for Italian. I've stayed away from buffets on my journey because I have no self-control...none...when confronted with row after row of delicious, glistening Chinese food (or pizza or whatever else).

It's hard to break the habit of medicating stress with food. God knows I still do it every once in a while, but now I do so with healthy food. Somehow it doesn't have the same impact. I also smoke, so that helps in that respect. I just smoke MORE than I used to. I need to quit, I know. One major life change at a time, please! :blush5:

So for stress relief now, I do housework. When the urge to gorge strikes...and it can sometimes be so overwhelming that my head spins for a moment...I get up and do some housework. Not light work like dusting, but hard sweaty work like vacuuming, detailing the car, scrubbing the baseboards, mopping the bathrooms with boiling hot water, cleaning all the mirrors, dusting the ceiling fans, etc. Basically anything to keep me busy and moving. I find once I'm done with whatever task I've assigned myself, I've lost interest in that chocolate bar. Or, I'm just too tired to eat it. Plus, my house is cleaner.

If the urge is REALLY bad, that's when I scoop the cat boxes or scrub the toilets. Kills ANY appetite, guaranteed.

Pretty? no! lol. But thank you very much. I'm actually smiling in the picture, its just hard to tell because its so small, and Dan is acting all crazy next to me. lol.

lmao, I bet. That's a good idea and I'll have to try that sometimes. Of course my being so busy right now I don't even have time to clean much or sleep...which is part of my problem. Then I'm waiting to long to eat so by the time I do I'm starving and control is out the window. Next semester my class schedule is going to have to be different. This 4 days a week crap while working full time with half a day off is killin me

So speaking of sleep, I skipped classes today. Math I figure I can catch up easy enough and Chem...well let's say I'm a little irritated with the prof. He informed us last class that he would only be there for ten minutes to give us our weekly quiz then be going to the main campus for a meeting. So why not let us just take the damn quiz tomorrow? I'd have had to wait an hour after my math class just to sit there for ten minutes ...I actually almost got to campus from work today then just turned around and aimed straight for my bed. I feel SO much better, sleep is GOOD!

Ok food for today

Breakfast: Lean cuisine flatbread sand. - 330 cals

Very late lunch:
spinach pizza - 375
spanokopita- 360 (for 8 pieces! this stuff is SOOO good!)

also 3 hershey's 60 cal pack chocolate sticks- 180 cals
1 banana-100
1 peach- 38
2 spanokopita (my husband didn't eat the last of it)- 90

Dinner- sweet & sour chicken dinner -350
Slim-a-bear ice cream sandwich-100

Total for day - 1923 right around where I want to be :)

I skip classes when professors do stupid stuff like that. I went to class yesterday for 2 minutes, just to hand in a paper!!!! Then he told us to leave. I was mad because it was a TOTAL waste of gas and money, and I could have turned it into him on Thursday when I saw him. UGH. I'm glad you got your sleep. And What are spanokopitas? I've never heard of them.

Glad I'm not alone, lol. I really shouldn't have skipped the quiz...considering I've done poorly on them till now even though I do great on the exams. But I looked at his point system and I think I'll still be fine.

And I'd never heard of spanokopitas either until I went to a bulk grocery store that had them. They're little filo dough turnovers filled with spinach and cheese...and I'm on a spinach kick lately so I love 'em.

You know what? I'd agree with both of you about the whole prof blowing off the class thing, except I rweally wish mine would bag a day off sometime... let me get some sleep instead!

How ya doing Lisa? I'm currentlypretending to work while procrastinating about studying for a chem quiz...

Oh I wouldn't have minded him blowin off a day but why mak e US come to class for ten minutes? lol

Doin pretty good...got my bike put together and gave it a test try. It has the two handles that move front and back and that was awkward but you can lock them in place so I did and tried it again and it was comfortable :) The seat was even comfy, which is why I tried the recumbent bike first is my last bike had a horrible seat that left my legs and thighs numb. So I think I've finally got a piece of exercise equipment I can use right now.

Oh and my camera is fixed and it only cost 35 bucks at the computer place...not the 120 something plus shipping that kodak wanted to charge me. The wiring to the lcd screen was just loose. Unfortunately they've narrowed down my computer to either the motherboard or processor. And it may have been my fault.

I installed a wireless internet card 3 weeks ago without using those static gloves or the wrist band thingie. I didn't realize I needed to for just popping in a card like that and had always thought the gloves were for keeping ME from getting a jolt. But apparently it was to keep a static charge from frying my computer. So he said that possible could have caused a weak spot.

Whatever the case he'll get me an estimate before he fixes it and I may just bring it home broke until we're doing better financially. I'm using my hubby's spare tower and I no longer play mmorpgs like WoW so this works fine.

Now if our mechanic would just finally figure out what's wrong with my car ;/ I haven't driven it in over two months. I'm grateful though because he's very busy and trouble shooting it in his free time, what little he has, rather than taking it into the shop to save us mega money. He's fixed alot of things that needed done for not much money but it's still stalling. He's going to check some sensor that has to do with the coil pack...or something like that. This is second hand info from my husband who only half hears anything. Anyway I'm crossin my fingers this is it this time.

That about sums it up, I've done nothing productive today other than assembling my bike. No homework...no housework...nada. I took a shower, ate, and watched tv :)
