Lilly's journey...this time it will happen!

O.K started the day off with a 25 min walk/jog as I have to got back to work next week and in the mornings this is all I will have time for, so better get used to it.

I jogged about 1/4 of the time, but 1/2 the distance if that makes sense. My gawd I did not expect jogging to be so hard, but geez louise it is like a mean horrible punishment for my body...oh well can only get better...right??

Am off to work today to do some preparation, have already packed my healthy food, and logged my calories up to afternoon so I know that it will be on track.

Another really good day today...with the 25min walk/run this morning I also did 35min this afternoon after work, so another hour today total..woohhoooo!

Ate just over 1200 cals today so the restriction was 1800 as I burned over 600 again in exercise.

Trucking along well!

Another good day today, am unbelievably sore from yesterdays exercise, so did pilates today to try and stretch myself out a little...did 30min so that is a total of 3 and a half hours so far this week (from Tuesday my week begins)

Eating has been good, I got extremely tired yesterday and that old voice came back into my head...."just get takeout for tea, it will be easier" but no I cooked, it was healthy and I felt good!

Added 3 sets of jumping jacks and some other torture routine intermingled with the pilates, just to give the session some oomph...man jumping jacks kick my arse!

where to now?

O.K I am nearing a big change to my journey so far...I have been on Summer holiday and Monday sees me back at work. I am a principal of a primary school Ages 5 - 11, I also teach the new entrant class (5 year olds) 3 days a week. So my job is highly stressful and I when you add my young family into the mix I have little time to myself.

I am determined to fit the changes I have made into my 'old' life, but will have to make a few alterations here and there.

I have been reading a lot about the benefits of pilates when you throw regular bursts of cardio into the mix...so what I aim to do is to create my own little programme that mixes my favourite pilates and swiss ball exercises with my stair running, jumping jacks, skipping etc, backwards running, moon walks etc. Rather than using the machines for the cardio sections of my workout I will do these high intensity exercises to break up the strength of the pilates because they get my heart rate up far quicker and work my whole body.

I am going to try a circuit this afternoon, and will see how it goes.

In the mornings I will only have about 20 - 30 min so my aim is to get up at 6am and go for a walk/jog...hopefully over time it will become more of a jog than a walk.

Here's what I'm thinking for my weekly schedule of exercise:
Monday
6.00am - walk/jog 20 - 30 min
6.00pm - pilates/cardio circuit 30 - 40min ( baseball day for the kids...so may only have time for 30min)

Tuesday
6.00am - walk-jog-sprint intensity training 30 min
Tuesday is my meeting day so I won't have time to do any exercise in the afternoon, so won't put it in my schedule.

Wednesday
6.00am - walk/jog 20-30min
5.30pm - pilates/cardio circuit 30 - 40 min

Thursday
6.00am - walk/jog 20 -30min
5.30 - elliptical trainer - 20 min high intensity training

Friday
6.00am - 30 min stationery bike
5.00pm - normal pilates workout just strength 20min

Saturday
Sprint training on bike for 20 min, some pilates work for 10 - 15

Sunday
pilates/cardio circuit 30 - 40 min

I have not put in a rest day, because it is best I plan to exercise each day as inevitably in my busy schedule there will be a day that I can not get to the exercise, or where I am just to tired to get up that 30min early.

Eating will be o.k, I have managed to establish good habits now that I feel I can quite confidently stick to....hopefully the regular exercise will help alleviate the stress to a degree.

Well I have felt really blah today, it is that TOM and I am just down and grumpy...feel tired and don't feel like doing a thing. Felt so much like just eating everything today, but didn't, stuck to the plan and didn't cheat.

Exercise was the last thing I felt like, but did the pilates circuit as I had promised myself earlier...did 35min, worked arms, butt and abs as well as throwing those horrible jumping jacks and things in. Am feeling sore now, but am glad I made myself work out. So that is my 4hours done and dusted for the week...will do a sprint interval thing on my bike tomorrow I think to have a break from the pilates. Will probably end up doing 5 hours or slightly more for my exercise by Monday night, so that is good. Not weighing myself at the moment because I know I weigh more at this time of the month anyway...but it is a weird feeling, like if I don't weigh myself every morning I start feeling like I'm getting off track...weird.

O.K I've been giving my plan a bit of thought again, and thinking that I may be expecting a little much of myself to be working incredibly hard and trying to fit so much exercise in.

So I went and read up about the couch to 5k programme and it looks really good. My aim with exercise is not just to lose weight, but to establish a good level of fitness...I think this looks like a great programme to do just that.

I recommends 3 sessions a week, so what I will do is that on the days I do this jogging programme I won't do any other exercise that day, but on the other days I will aim to walk in the morning and do pilates circuit or a machine in the afternoon.

I am going to see how things fall into place, I still aim to workout on the weekends, and this will be an ideal time to do hiit on the bike or elliptical for 20 min.

As long as I mix it up and fit in the cardio and the strength I don't think I can go wrong. I just know how highly stressful work is, and the last think I want to do is stress myself out trying to stick to such a strict routine as I earlier thought. If I am following the couch to 5k programme that is a lot of my cardio covered anyways.

Ahhh I do tend to overthink....this is just so important to me!

On a very happy note, we went out with the kids today, there was no healthy alternatives at the cafe we went to for lunch, so I didn't have anything and waited till we got home. The kids and hubby also got an ice cream, but I didn't...woohooo great willpower!

YAY!!!! GOOD FOR YOU!!! No ice cream :D!!! (I on the other hand,...hammed one down last night....grrr)...LOL....

I'm so HAPPY for you and your running!!! I love it!!! I've always wanted to join one of those teams, more because of the company of the people running with you....COMPANY IS GREAT!!! :sifone: I'm sure you'll love it!!! They have a great program from what I hear!

Gooooood Job Woman!!! Glad you had a great time out with the fam!!! :)

Hey thanks girl! I even downloaded a podcast to help me out with knowing when to walk and when to jog etc...hee hee.

Today has been really good, yesterday I was so down that I was sure today would be the day I would cave and get takeout, but no, feel a whole heap better today, so still on track.

Did my hiit for the week on my bike today...good god nothing challenges me like that does. did 5 min warm up, 20 min hiit, and 5 min warm down.

Anyway still have not weighed myself, but things are starting to fit much better, and my upper body has definitely fined down a little, it is quite obvious now, so all those strength exercises must be working.

Hey hun! I just started doing the Couch to 5K yesterday! I think it's definitely a good way to add some variation into your cardio! :) It definitely makes my workouts less tedious because I'm not just doing the same thing on the elliptical every day! We'll be up and running hte whole 5k in NO TIME!! :) YESSS!!

Have a great day! :D

We will be running that 5k in know time...hee hee

Did the 1st session of C25K today, downloaded a podcast to help me remember when to run etc and that worked really well!

Feel good now, a little sore, but good!

O.k things are still going well, walked for 35min this morning, and did circuit training this afternoon for 25min. Tomorrow is my 2nd day of C25K, so I am looking forward to that. Downloaded a heap of workout music to use with my circuit this afternoon and noticed that it really lifted my intensity, so that is great to.

Eating going really well, I actually can not believe how well I am doing with the eating, and kind of wish I would lose weight faster...but hey I guess this is a lifestyle and even if the weight is coming off slowly, at least it is coming off.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!! good for you lilly.. you are doing a good job.. I'm glad your clothes is fitting loser for sure that is a good sign..:).. hey by the way hows the couch to 5k going?? how does that work.. I always here about it but I dont' understand it... So you train with a group of people?? I don't know just wondering.. Keep up the awesome work.. I know how hard your trying and I can't wait till we are all skinny mommas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hee hee, thanks, it is great having the clothes fit better, only lost .5 of a pound this week...oh well at least that's .5 of a pound I will never see again!

I am doing the couch to 5k on my own...just read about the programme and downloaded this cool podcast that tells me when to walk and when to run. I am only up to day 3, but it seems a very logical training programme, builds up slowly in intensity, just what I need!

I did a learn to run clinic with the running room in my town. There was a group of about 10 of us and we ran outside. The hardest part was learning to run in the middle of summer! CRAZY I tell ya. But I did it, and it's awesome! Running is still hard for me, but I can run longer than before for sure. I just need to do it more often and hope that 30 mins on the treadmill will one day be a piece of cake but right now it's definitely a challenge to make myself go the whole time without stopping, but it's good to be able to do that much. Before doing the running program I was lucky to make it to 3 mins on the treadmill!

Well things are going really well, it has been a public holiday here today and in the past we definitely would have eaten junk all day and had take out for dinner, but not now, didn't even consider it! Did my third day of couch to 5k, of course I didn't get up early, ended up going in the afternoon and it was stinking hot, so today was a lot harder, but i did it, and feel good now.

Have done 3 hours of exercise since Tuesday, (Friday here today) so things are on track in that department, the days I don't jog I do 30min walk in morning and then 30 min circuit in afternoon, the days I jog, that is the only exercise I do.

I do want to post a photo in that thread alta....but I just don't get my photo taken...hate the camera, so will have to see if I can find one.

Your like me lilly I despise the camera.. Just take it so then once you look back you will know why the hell you never want to be there again.. Congrats on not eating all that junk food.. Hey I still haven't had a chance but I am going to look into the couch to 5k.. I love it just the name sounds amazing... You are doing so great. Keep it up girly..

Well I bit the bullet and posted some pics...eeek!

Today has been extremely hot here, we are going through a bit of a heat wave and have never really experienced these kind of temps on a regular basis...makes the willpower to exercise need to be even stronger!

Eating has gone well today, it is Saturday, but I just don't have the need to eat junk any more...did have a little craving for chocolate earlier, but that went away.

Managed to drag myself down to my workout area to do some exercise after deciding to have a rest day, I felt guilty so exercised anyway. did 8min on arms with light weights, 2 min swiss ball for abs, 20 min elliptical going up the intensity levels with two sprints, then another 2 min doing some more ab exercises on my ball and the last 3min doing squats...eeek. So another 35 minutes down.

Bit down on calories so far today, but it is just too hot to feel like eating!

I think NZ is having the same sort of heat wave parts of Aus are having. Nice effort with the exercise despite the heat :)

p.s. did you see the black caps win over the aussies in the one day match ?

Yes I did see half of the cricket...went to bed about over 20 into the NZ innings. We are fielding really well at the moment, but every time we bat I cringe, just never know if we are going to all topple over or not.

Have been watching a little of the sevens today, could not believe we got beaten by Wales yesterday...hee hee. I am more of a league fan...can not wait for the season to start!
