Lili's Diary

Thanks Risty.

Day 75 was great. Great day at work because I found out which team I'll be working with in our new office building and reorganized structure and I love these people. A co-worker asked me to sit her dog while she's in Jamaica and I would love to Great day because after work I went to the gym and ran 3 miles in 30 minutes then did my sit-ups and increased my free weights to 12 pounds from 10 pounds each. Great day because I weighed myself this morning and am at 162.5 pounds. Hey, maybe I had to get my plateau out of the way at the beginning of my weight loss!

I thought I'd mention some things that are positive just to keep motivated:
my pants are looser
today was the first day I noticed my face is a teensy bit smaller
I'm able to run faster and longer
I can lift more weight
Green tea is working!!!!! But you have to be careful and get the naturally decaffeinated type because there is mucho caffeine in green tea.
I ignored some moments of temptations the last couple days.

The face is the first place people always notice it on me! I wish it was my stomach or thighs... but no! I think it's just because there's so much more fat in those other places it'll take time for it to diminish! lol

Day 74 was a smash success! I ate on plan, even eating out at Johhny Farina's! Ignored the bread put in front of me, had one glass of red wine and a salad with warm goat cheese and strawberries. Oh my god was it good. I told them to hold the pecans in the salad because that's too much fat. We walked to see the ice sculptures (magnificent) and this really cool place to see about 20 cats that live behind our parliament buildings. They're in a gated area and have little houses to live in. When we approached, they came out to say hello. Absolutely adorable. They're healthy, well fed shiny-coated creatures, purring at your feet. The story goes a caretaker in the 70s fed them and ever since, they've kept a home for them. They're so well fed, they don't even chase pigeons. LOL Too precious. So I had a nice evening and now watching Olympics figure skating waiting for my Johnny Weir, the sweetheart.

Oh, weighed myself this morning and I'm 161.8. Really happy I'm 2 pounds away being in the 150s.

Day 73 was good: ate on plan and my carb/fat/protein ratio was bang on. Too much salt in my lunch foods though. Drank 2 mugs of green tea and having a third decaf tonight. And loads of water.

Went to the gym after work and did cardio, sit-ups, heel raises and shoulder crunches. My cardio was real hard on the treadmill so after 20 minutes I moved to the elliptical trainer.

Tomorrow I'm going to do my full workout.

Just wanted to say I admire you for keeping a diary for so long and for sticking with the healthy life style. I read your profile/bio page. You have a good looking family, yourself included. ;)

Keep with it and you'll be back near 140 someday. Getting there is the fun part, right? :)

Thanks Derrick for stopping by and those complements! I did take a few breaks from my diary since 2006 but it's great to know it's always here and so are the great people of WLF. I'll pop by yours to see how you're doing.

Hi. Thanks for stopping by my diary. You really seem to be on track. That hike sounds fun, especially seeing the owl.

You bet ... slowly I'm getting acquainted with all the people here. If I get the picture of the owl downloaded tonight, I'll post it in my diary. :waving:

Well, I'm off to the gym after having my Raisin Bran, apple, fruit and my apple cider vinegar. It's a joy to run on the treadmill while watching the Olympics.

You're a great source of inspiration! Thanks!

Just wondering re: Apple cider vinegar. I tried the tablets and I found they gave me TERRIBLE heartburn. Now, I'm quite prone to that anyway, and I'd say a lot of it was due to my terrible diet and no exercise but now I can't seem to take the apple cider (it's New Nordic, 720mg tablets, hi strength) tablets without being very uncomfortable. Did you find the same?

Keep on keepin' on!

Hi 20to10; Thanks for stopping by my diary. Congrats on your 15 pounds lost, you're doing great. I never tried the tablets for apple cider vinegar. I always use the liquid (organic, unfiltered, Bragg's brand) and I put a little bit of hot water in a cup, stir 1/4 tsp of honey into it, add 2 tsp of the cider and then a bit of cold water so I have like maybe 3 oz. in total. I eat something so I'm not pouring it into an empty stomach, then I drink it slowly down. I started with one tsp and am at 2 tsp now. It's apparently really good to balance acidic levels, weight loss and a whole host of ailments and I've even seen posts where people say it's helped their sex drive! lol I never had bad reactions to the liquid but I need the honey to make it go down. :)

Had a good workout at the gym, felt relaxed after. I love 15 minutes in the sauna before my shower. Then I stopped off at the organic market to get some fruit, honey and baked veggie samosas. YUM.

Have a great day everyone!

I was always wanting a sauna and I wouldn't get one until I had my own house but I do have my hot tub and it's awesome! It really does feel good on the muscles. I usually have to wait before going in it though after workout because I feel hot enough at that point! lol

Whoo hoo, hot tub party at Risty's!!

Day 71 was rather unimpressive I'm afraid to say. I did not go to the gym, in fact I didn't even leave my house. My neighbour came over for tea and she brought a quiche pie. We each had an 1/8" piece. I've been laying on the couch watching Olympics and movies ever since. And I ordered pizza and had other naughty food. sigh.

I ate on plan yesterday and had an excellent workout at the gym, but my fat content in my total caloric count was too high. I really need to string the days together to see success...

Don't beat yourself up! Though if you learn to make a healthy pizza you won't be as tempted to buy out! Then you won't feel so bad about it. I have this store near me that sells these really good pizza crusts (partly cooked already I think) and there's regular ones and thin crusts. The one day they were out of the regular so I bougt the thin crust but the it was soooo big! We didn't have a pan that fit the stupid thing so the part that was hanging over the pan burned because it was directly over the heat. But that's ok because we just didn't eat that part and then it was the size of a normal pizza anyways! Having thin crust for one cuts down on calories.

But you could always do like your friend suggested and buy pitas and make them that way. Actually my husband's mom made a few like that on pitas and froze them and gave them to us. It's really handy when you have nothing and it tastes good.

I also tried a pizza that was really simple in a health food store, they had it on a thin crust, sauce, a bit of meat but no cheese and it actually tasted good. You could always just reduce the amount of cheese you put on it and maybe even have it low fat cheese too. At least if you make it yourself you can add the calories up and see how much you're actually eating :)

Thanks for your support Risty. It all comes down to laziness for me. I'm really stupid on the weekends. DAMNIT !!!!!! ARGHhhh!! A co-worker invited me for supper today and instead I begged off and stayed home. Isolating myself is a super bad set-up for eating. I'm good in the week.

Hey the upside ... tomorrow is a new day. I'm heading to a doctor's appointment at 2:30pm, followed by a good workout and healthy meals, green tea and loads of water tomorrow.

Yeah I know how it is. I'm the most lazy person ever. If I didn't have to exercise, I just wouldn't. I'd be content just relaxing on my couch watching tv, movies and maybe reading, lol. You could always make one of those healthy pizzas during the week when you're good and putting it in the freezer for the weekend when you're bad! lol At least that way you'll be less bad! Or not bad at all since it will be healthy and portion controlled :D

Your day sounds a lot like mine yesterday! I layed around the hotel room and watched Olympics and read some.

I left briefly to go get some chili cheese fries which were huge!! Ahh, at least i didnt eat the rice krispy treat on top of that. It's still in the room. LOL

Did you see Apolo Ohno win the Bronze?? I love him, he's so cute!! He's my new favorite, besides the Flying Tomato.

I can never make it more than 10 minutes in the hot tub or sauna. 15 seems like a lot to me but not nearly as bad as some of the people at my gym. This one guy sat in there for 45 minutes one day as I was swimming in the pool so I finally said out loud to him, "I hope you don't want to have any more kids someday!" I said it with a smile of course but I was somewhat serious. Forty-five minutes at 107 degrees is just not good for a guy. I figured all 40 year old men knew that but apparently he didn't.

I'm having similar challenges in the eating department. Seems like even if I string together 5 good days in a row, if the next 2 are bad I am more likely to gain weight than lose weight. I keep trying to remind myself that if I can just get back into weight loss mode it does get easier. I call it weight loss mode because it's hard to achieve (it takes about 10 days of eating in a caloric deficit) but once you get there you feel like you are in the zone and it actually seems easy to stay there. Unfortunately I haven't been there in about 8 months. Hopefully each and every one of us will find our own weight loss mode.
