Lift, Train, Fitness

Thank Cowboy

only managed about 5k walking this morning when I went out at 6 am this morning, extreme tiredness after I got home, just don't have the energy to do anything this Saturday. If it cools down tonight I will be bringing my painting table up from the shed so that I don't need to worry about all the snakes when I am trying to relax, it is hard to paint when there is a Brown, Taipan or Red Belly Black slithering through the shed lol

moved the table this evening, however there was a fresh snake skin stretched across the table which wasn't there 2 days ago, the skin would be close to 2 meters long, I will have to lay it out and take a photo to post up here lol

Lunch today was a wrap and this evening had scrambled eggs (free range from our own chooks)

I like snakes now, after a lifetime of being petrified of them, but the thought of having them everywhere really has me shuddering!

Raining here today, which is good because it was looking like we would need to order in a Tanker of water.

Not real good for taking photo's so snake skin pic will have to wait till it clears up, planning to lay out the skin on the driveway with the tape measure next to it.

feeling good this morning, tiredness wont kick in till later in the day, time for breakfast, eggs and pregnancy Vitamin supplement

so far so good, every test my doc has done so far has come back normal, internal ultrasound confirmed everything looking normal (they checked to make sure pregnancy was not ectopic)

I understand that at my age there will be more tests than usual, however it is good that I have a great Doc who goes above and beyond in his care of patients even if he did almost fall off his chair laughing when I told him about the positive pee test.

What a vast & varied country we live in. We have had so much rain this year that the water table must be full to the brim. It was the wettest Winter on record & so it continues. The rain has been relentless. We are not used to it at all. We're over it. Next, we'll probably be in drought!
That's funny that your doc nearly fell off his chair laughing!

I am good friends with my Docs wife so we know each other rather well, and not just a Doctor patient relationship.

yep, watched on the news how much rain you guys have had down south.

training today was bench press, only lifting warmup weights (60 kg) so as not to overdo things + a 5k walk at the football fields. the way I feel is all over the place, felt great this morning but feeling crap this afternoon. Have been trying to relax by painting but my concentration is not up to the task.

the owner of the gym commented that I am fitter than the average 19-25 year old which means my body should handle pregnancy as good if not better than many younger ladies, time will tell.

That snake skin looks freaky big! I like the idea of snakes but I´m glad I don´t have venomous ones living in my back yard

As for me, my training will need to be lower intensity with some exercises off the menu for a while as yesterday my doctor confirmed that I am pregnant.

A little unexpected at age 44 lol

I love how you just throw that news in there so non-chalant, then kind of laugh it off, HAHAHA.

"So, lifting went well today. I ate really good and trained hard. My body's a little sore, but I'll live. I'm thinking of maybe upping my protein intake to help build more muscle. I'm pregnant. Maybe I should increase my cardio too. Hmm, oh well. Back to the grind tomorrow though - it's leg day!!!"

If you cannot keep a sense of humour when the shit hits the fan then we are all doomed :)

not that it is exactly a laughing matter, I am feeling fucking tired but I do need to keep to the lower intensity training as it will benefit me in how my body copes with the pregnancy. I would love to curl up on the sofa and binge watch something on DVD but in the long run I would loose out on my basic fitness level which would hurt my ability to cope with the changes later on. Staying fit through pregnancy definitely makes a difference when it comes time for delivery.

Exercise also helps to prevent gestational diabetes which is is common in older mothers along with keeping blood pressure stable, also a common problem more so for older mothers to be, than for younger ladies.

My hormones are going batshit crazy, so lifting weights is my form of meditation, the weights do not need to be heavy but the concentration on form and breathing aids in relaxation and not letting things get to me.

and now it is time for leg day (Squats) :D

it has been a hot day today, managed to get a reasonable amount of housework done, encountered a long red belly black when I was taking washing down to the shed, it was crossing the driveway and was at least as long as my driveway is wide (about 2 metres) and it's head was already hidden in the grass at the side. It took a little while to cross before I could get on with my work. Red belly blacks don't bother me, although they can kill they usually don't and they are not aggressive, on the other hand if it had of been one of the other types of snakes we have on our property then I would have been out of there at top speed with no work being done today lol.

Exercise: Nil (house and yard work don't count as exercise)
Eating: Ok, but had a few to many carbs, not sure if food cravings or just lack of willpower, pregnancy is not an excuse to over eat
Mood: feeling really out of sorts, mood is up/down and all over the place

Feeling pretty good today, have to spend it doing household chores YUK

Yuk indeed. It´s my turn today :(
Pregnancy may not be a good reason to overeat but I would assume cravings are normal? I´m curious (though in no way entitled to know) if this pregnancy feels the same as before.

Probably the biggest difference between this one and the other 3 so far is that I have had far less problems with being queezy and vomiting. For my 3 boys I was sick the whole time (right up to day of delivery), but so far this time I have felt a little sick here and there, and have not yet had any serious bouts of vomiting.

Last 3 time I had food aversions to Pizza, where I would vomit if my hubby brought it in the house, this time so far the smell of hubbies pizza is ok but cashew nuts taste funny this time, however there may be more food aversions as things progress.

I have not had any strong cravings yet and this is the same as with my 3 boys. Cravings are a normal part of the process.

One of the big differences between now and the other three is my exercise level, for my other 3, hubby would panic and worry that I was over doing things, this time he is more supportive of me continuing to exercise which is far better for my health.

My 3 boys were all natural deliveries with the biggest being over 10 lb, although I do have a wide hip structure which makes things a little easier than what it would be for ladies with a much narrower bone structure.
