Lift, Train, Fitness

The run did not happen this morning lol, I had Anatomy tutorial this morning learning the bony landmarks of the legs and pelvic girdle along with the nerves, the muscles were fine as I already know the muscles. An early lunch today being mutton chops with the excess fat trimmed off before cooking.

After a little research, I am now on the lookout for some Pigeon Pea seeds to grow in the garden, we use a lot of split peas in soups and stew and would like to be able to have them in the garden, having the right climate also helps. I may also look into growing yams and chickpeas.

Time to head down to the shed and hit the gym before an afternoon of cleaning while little miss is at childcare.

Had a solid session in the gym
starting with a warm-up on the stationary bike for 5 minutes (100 calories), the onto a bench press warmup of 3 sets of 21's followed by some work on muscular endurance with 3 AMRAP sets followed by some accessory work then a run up the hill back to the house.

Little miss is very bouncy this morning, so it looks like my exercise this morning will be chasing little miss 2 1/2 around the property and spending time watching the boys in full display, she loves their feathers. I will also see if I can manoeuvre the rotary hoe through the chicken yard gate (the hoe is wider than the gate) in prep for digging the chook yard to plant the pigeon peas, I am ordering my seed from North Queensland as I have not been able to source them locally.

Also very pissed of about the two teen girls who lied on their quarantine forms and have brought the virus into Queensland and hung out in the community for days before being admitted to hospital, they are facing gaol time for the false declaration before they face other charges

I'd be livid as well how can anyone be so irresponsible!

Spent most of the day doing heavy gardening, rotary hoeing (my upper back is well worked) and using the pick to dig out larger tougher weeds, planning a trip to Bunnings tomorrow to get some pavers, and a couple of mango trees.

Some other tropical plants I want to keep an eye out for to plant on the property are

Cinnamon
Clove Tree
Nutmeg Tree
Piper nigrum (Black pepper vine)
Vanilla

My aim is to make our land more productive and to become much more self sufficient.

It all sounds so wonderful Tru!

Son 3 is happy to do some of the heavy labour involved in converting the place from fallow paddocks and scrub to a proper tropical garden, I am sick of failing to grow temperate climate veg. the wicking beds will have those sort of veg in them but everywhere else will be tropical food plants, it will take a lot of work and research. I like the idea of the nutmeg tree which grows to 30-60 ft. I don't like mango or dragon fruit but the others in the family do. Pepper and coriander (for the seeds) will mean I only need to buy salt when I make biltong. Growing more exotic foods will mean learning to cook cuisine from other countries.

after not being able to get the seeds I wanted in town today, this afternoons task will be to construct my in garden worm farm, and plant out a giant tree tomato, a capsicum and little miss picked out some beetroot seeds to plant.

Now I want baked beetroot. With soft goat cheese, some fresh herbs, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze...

All planted in the wicking bed now along with the worm farm (pics in garden club thread), the soil under the mulch was still beautifully moist but not soggy, so it is working as designed. It will be 1-2 weeks before my other seeds arrive for the chook pen project.

2 more border jumpers caught hiding in the back of a truck this morning in town, we are a long way from the southern QLD border so the question is, are they infected and how many people have they spread it to, FUCKING IDIOTS.

And to top it of there was a 51 year old woman caught and charged after lying to get a border pass, she has be forced into quarantine but have heard she spent all day Friday wandering around town shopping etc. after arriving from Victoria. No info yet as to if she was positive, how long she has been in town and where has she visited ? I did not get close to people shopping this morning if I could help it but you never know.

There are swarms of cars on the road with Victorian plates you would think it was peak holiday season.

Not feeling well, waiting for the pathology lab to call to get apointment time for Covid swab once they process the paperwork from my GP

I have been swabbed, results could take up to 72 hours. Doc has me gargling very salty water with a squeeze of lemon every hour, he said it will reduce the viral load making it less likely that I will infect anybody else.

My internet is down so I am outside standing in a paddock to post. 26 degrees Celsius and climbing, so much for winter lol

Hope you don't have it. I think the odds are on your side, but who knows. Fingers crossed for your test!
