You're right about the heat, it totally changes the way your body holds onto water. I feel more bloated than I have the past couple months, but my clothes and the scale disagree. The heat is misleading, to it was wise to listen to your body when it comes to exercising at those temps. I'm curious, how hot is it there at the moment?

today's food:

breakfast: kellogs special k with low fat yogurt
snack: 1 ham and cheese toast (with whole wheat bread), 1 misura bar and 1 schneekoppe musli bar
lunch: sauted veggies and turkey breast fillet
snack: fruits
dinner: that tuna salad i wanted to have yesterday

it seems its even hotter today. i already feel completely exhausted. the sun really drains the energy out.

so i wanted to exercise yesterday but when i started running on the elliptical i really felt complete exhastion and couldn't move. its because of the heat, it is really really hot these days and you just sweat so i guess it is not very advisible to push yourself to the point where you might faint or something.

i put on trowsers i bought two weeks ago. when i bought them they were a little tight, now they're beginning to be loose so i'm really pleased with that. i also realised i didn't take weather conditions into account when it comes to weight. its summer, and during summer body retains more water. hence the weight doesn't go down that easy. therefore i'm not doing anything wrong :D

Wow--that really sucks, I HATE the heat (which is why I refuse to leave Santa Cruz--save for moving to Soquel. Um, Soquel is a tiny town southeast of S.C. but still close to the ocean, same county, a hop skip and a jump away). The water phenomenon is interesting, I notice I always get heavier easier in hot weather--now I know! Course, the BEER doesn't hurt. And I eat excessively when it's hot. I dunno why. Oh yeah, and I eat ICE CREAM to cool myself, sometimes! The BBQs and dinners and picnics and longer days account for some of it, but the increased appetite....maybe it's the stretched stomach. Well right now it's nice and cold in my house. I'm about ready to hobble to the store for a sandwich, I have been eating these crackers and now feel crappy.

The heat does make it hard to keep going with exercise. For the same amount of physical result it takes a lot more physical effort and mental discipline.

This summer I found it a lot easier to keep exercising in the heat than I remember from when I was younger and I think it's because this time I drank water constantly. Every single time I thought of it while I was training, I would have a mouthful. I found I could keep going in the summer as long as the evenings cooled down a lot compared to the day time, and I could exercise then. Heat waves when even the nights were hot, were a lot more difficult. However I did find them a good time to switch to swimming or walking in a pool, or going to the beach and letting the waves tire out a different set of muscles.

Summers here are so consistently hot for such a long time that I couldn't exactly wait for cooler weather - but I don't know what it's like where you are. Maybe taking a little break is quite feasible for you.

Good luck with coping, however you do it. :)

thanx girls, well its enormously hot today, at 2 pm it was 107 degrees (42 celcius) and this was again official and in shade. its really not for breathing let alone exercising. lot of people ended up in hospitals today. i drink a lot of water but i still have headaches from the heat.
this is so far the biggest heat wave this year. and i have a business trip tomorrow. this is really time only to lay in shade and drink something cold.

i didn't saute my veggies for lunch, so i made a cold salad instead: 1 large tomato, 1 large cucumber and 1 pepper, and little bit of onion, a bit of feta cheese and 1 large spoon of ricotta and mixed it up and had that with turkey breast filet :)
i also had about 100 g of icecream (it has 180 cals)
for dinner i had some leftover of the salad and just added the tuna in :D

so far today i had around 1600 cals, so now i will hit the watermelon :D

Well girlfriend, you did great on your food, what time is it over there??? Are you done for the day?

OMG. Not an exercise time at all. That's for sure. I hope you can have lots of cool showers at least. Chilled watermelon sounds great!!

No hugs today. I hope the heat wave passes quickly.

Oh yummy leftover salad and add tuna, one of my favorites I will add!! GOOD CHOICE!! I'm so sorry it's so hot their, that's usually our weather here, but we have truly been getting strange summer this year so far. We have hit records on some strange stuff, like rain fall totals for the year and cool nights, which is rare in July. But for now, I'll take it, because last year my air conditioning bill hit almost 400.00. OUCH!! You know I have to run the pump for the pool half the day or I'll be swimming in a swamp of green mush! Nasty!! YUK! Well, I hope the heatwave breaks real soon, I'll be thinking of you!

Awwww isn't Kim sweet? And Felici was nice to pass on hugging--last night the BF was all hot and sweaty--but then again he was all randy, too!! ha ha, he has been an absolute angel to me lately I think because we're moving out, ya'know? Anyway, he came to bed and woke me up, and I told him about my sprain and how upset I was and he was sympathetic but he also was very horny and.....well he felt bad becuase he realized I had tears. But then he made me feel better!!

I hope you haven't died of heat exhaustion!!! Are you OK, where are you?!?!

Ouch Lena, that is hot! Do you have air conditioning?
i don't unfortunately. a bit too expensive, but i'm planning on getting it next year lol

i'm ok :D exhausted as hell but ok :D haven't been here because i'm completely caught up in last harry potter book. i couodn't stop reading it and now i took a break before last 100 pages. i don't wanna know the end and i do. how weird...
anyway, i'm so glad your bf's acting like that :D the funny thing is, whenever is this hot my bf and i are completely horny haha. i don't know if its the sweat or what hahahaha

i'm not eating too well. icecream mostly and tomatoes with salt and fruit and carbs. my body is exhausted and i really didn't want to deprive myself too much, so i've been eating mostly around my maintainance level. well drastic times calls for drastic measures.
countries around us declared state of emergency because of the heat. croatia not yet. thank god there is little bit of breeze today.
i couldn't go swimming today because TOM is here so i avoid swimming for first two or three days.
off course i still can't exercise :( i'm really sad about that.
anyway, i'm off to finish harry potter, and i'll be back tomorrow :D hope you're all doing great.

i'm not hugging ya :D i'm too sticky lol
Lena

I wouldnt worry to much at how you are eating chicky...your menu is always pretty good plus it is super hot there - do what you are needing to do to take care of yourself during that heat wave...

Oooh! I want to read the new Harry Potter too!! Soon!

I'm glad you have something nice to do amidst all that horrid heat.

*Blows cool fairy kisses*

well thanx all :) and especially thanx felici for those cool fairy kisses hehe

i'm at work. its still hot but a bit better today. i even exercised yesterday, it was difficult but i just had to do something, so i did 3.5 miles on the elliptical and then about an hour of total body workout: lots of lunges, squats with weights, crunches, stretching an all. i was soaking wet but at least i felt better lol

oh and i finished harry potter :) now i wanna read it all over and over again hehe. but first i'm gonna go see the movie tomorrow :)

my food today:
breakfast: kellogs special k with low fat yogurt
snack: schneekoppe musli bar and mulino bianco bar, 2 scoups of ice cream
lunch: bowl of minestrone and tomatoes as salad
snack: nectarines, watermelon, icecream (its gonna be hot this afternoon)
dinner: if i'm hungry probably salad but somehow i doubt it

i see how things go today, i'll try to do at least 200 minutes on the elliptical. i won't train too hard.

Great going on the exercise Lena! 200 minutes is..gosh..how many hours is that?

While you're over there having a heatwave we're having an unusual cold spell. It's supposed to only reach 71 degrees, and that's for July (duh, as you know) when its normally in the high 80's and 90's. We'll be over here shivering (its pouring rain too) while you're over there sweating your ass off. Hee he.

Hi Lena, I'm happy your food/exercise is back on track and that you're surviving that heat wave. I can't believe you're managing without air conditioning! It's in the 90's here and I truly could not last a day without my ac, you're a strong woman ;) Keep it up and try to stay cool my friend :)

Hey Lena! What's good? :)

200 minutes on the ellipitical. That sounds a little much, what's your reasoning for doing so much?
