leg workout

my leg workout consists of leg press,lunges and deadlifts with the occasional calf raise session...i gotta say my legs are worked after each workout,like wiped where i can barely walk the next day..question is what size dumbells you guys use for lunge sets...i think i'm going to heavy with 50's
 
well my legs are really weak, and I do Straight leg dead lilft supersetted with lunges, and I only use 40's for the lunges and 135lbs for the DL........ 4 sets of 10. Just depends on what feels like a good work out to ya.

wouldn't the lunges irritate your knee as well then?

When I do lunges, I do them with a barbell on my back (like a squat) and go at them, rather than the dbs because it is easier to hold the barbell and not worry about losing your grip
 
the lunges dont seem to bother it as much..the squats get a little dicey with heavier weight and the knee feels real unstable...and iam going pretty light with the lunges as well
