Laura's Diary

Glad to hear from you Laura. Nice to hear you still aren't binging and congrats on your new employment. It sounds like a great job.

Hey everyone, thanks for your comments. Yes shifts are crazy, although mine are usually during the day, i dont get a fixed time everyday for lunch, i get my break at a different time each day depending on what shift i do. The job is actually really good because it forces me to be active, whether standing for 30 mins or cleaning the changing rooms i am getting good exercise working there! Hope everyone is having a good day, and i will try and catch up on you all as sson as poss! Laura x

Hey Laura, can you pack little snack type meals to take with you to work. And that way since you never know when you can take your break, at least you will have something with you that's healthy and easy to grab.

Hope the job is going well.

Hey everyone, wow two weeks seems like forever. Have just got back from my holiday from corsica. I have some confessions, i ate really badly, but i did go running. I managed to beat my distance record running 2.2km! But the thing is by the end of the holiday, and this sounds really bad or good depending on how you look at it, i got really sick of the way i was eating and sounding quite ungreatful i coudnt wait to get home to go back to the way i was eating before! Hope everyone is ok...will check on your diaries later!

I've come to a realisation really about my eating having been on holiday. I have no support from my family. My mum has constantly been on and off all the fad diets since i was little. Now i am sucessfully loosing weight, she is not being supportive but keeps trying to sabotage my efforts. Offering me chocolate, ice cream, crisps and when i turn these down she says she worries i am going anorexic because i would rather have french bread and a peach for breakfast instead of a doughnut. My sister is one of those irritating people who can eat anything she likes and doesnt understand why i dont want three ice creams in one day because it doesnt effect her. My dad just doesnt make comments which to be honest is the best approach of the three. Sorry for the little rant just needed to get this mini revelation out my system, hope you are having a great day Laura x

Hey Laura. It's good that you've realized these things. It empowers you, because you can use that knowledge to your advantage - you know what you're contending with. You hang in there and keep going.

Good Morning!!!! Well, as long as you are still sticking to your plan and going STRONG. I'm sorry to hear that you really don't have that Support. But remember we are still here for you. Have a Great day and sre you drinking your WATER??You better;)

Laura, I'm so sorry you don't have the support of your family, especially your mother.

I think our family and friends subconciously sabotage our efforts to lose weight. If we said something to them, surely they would deny it. It's hard, but perhaps the best option is to tell them you want to eat healthy (and the high saturated fat in ice cream is not healthy!) and maintain a healthy weight (show them your goal BMI is reasonable, not anorexic).

BMI = (weight (lbs) x 703) / (height (inches) x height (inches))

And here is a teen/child BMI online calculator: http://apps.nccd.cdc.gov/dnpabmi/Calculator.aspx

Ex: weight of 130 lbs for a 5'7" sixteen year old girl is a BMI of 20.4, which is in the 49% (or right in the middle) for other girls her age.
