Lagniappe's Journal: Yikes. I'm FAT!

As for TOM, just keep in mind that during this time, your body burns 250-300 calories MORE due to menstruation process.

Wow... a reason to actually APPRECIATE my least favorite thing about being a "total woman." Anything that burns calories is okay in my book.

Thanks for stopping by :)

Hi

I am pleased that you had a great time away.

We have all been there and done that. Had a great time and put on a bit of weight.

The really good thing is that you have weighed yourself, are aware of it and have got straight back into the swing of getting it sorted out.

A reasonable proportion is likely to be water retention - as you say.

The fact that you have returned to the same regime whereby you lost those pounds means that you are very likely to lose them again very quickly.

You will be back there in no time.

Take care
Best wishes
Margaret

Damn right, girl! When I found that out, it made me push through my workouts even harder. With the amount of water retention, plus the extra calories burned, I lost 4 lbs a few weeks back. WOOT!!!

Anytime, girl... I hope all that extra sodium leaves your body soon.

Unfortunately, I think I qualify as "morbidly obese" -- Hopefully in a month or so I'll just be plain old fat :)

I am morbidly Obese.. Don't fret hun ..you will lose the weight!
We believe in you! and you are doing awesome so far!

I used to get down on myself when I read or heard I was morbidly obese ..the first few times I heard it I wanted to give up and cry and have a pitty party ..than I realized the only way to not be morbidly obese is to pick up these legs and just start walking to freedom ..because taking this weight off ...is freedom ...and freedom can be a killer things to have ..

You will do it! We are right there behind you!

So far, I've been good. Had sushi last night but I didn't eat rolls. but sashimi instead. Also had miso, marinated squid salad, and some baked salmon stuffed with snow crab and topped with a little eel sauce. (sounds yummy, right?) Today, I just had some bacon and green tea for breakfast (but man, those raspberry scones looked GOOD); and a corned beef & swiss on rye. Tonight will be Mexican food and I can probably just have some fajita-something with no tortillas. We walked about 3 miles today. My dogs are barking and I smell like a less-than-genteel southern belle, but we're having a great time. Thanks for all the good vibes. At this rate, I think I'm gonna waddle through successfully. Lousy wi-fi connection here so I can't really post much more than this but will catch up with visiting you guys on your journals when I get home.

Awesome freaking job on the diet!! You go girl!! You did better than I sometimes do lmao ...

so impressed .. you rock!

When I always had my TOM ..during that period of that week... I gained on average three pounds to five pounds...so it just might be that time of the month is edging your scale up a few pounds...so don't fret ..just work it girl as best you can and you will come out on top!:jump:

Have A Goal Reachin' Day/Weekend!

Hope you guys have a great weekend too. I've now pretty much lost all the weight I gained in NO... I guess it wasn't firmly entrenched or something (or, TOM weight gain). I'm hoping I can stay strong for the weekend which is always my worst time. Luckily we're not having any parties this weekend, so no snacky stuff to contend with, and I convinced my husband to eat at home tonight instead of going out for Thai. Didn't get a chance to exercise today but I'll walk the doggie extra long tonight.

Figured I'd stop by and say hi!

The weekends are definitely my biggest problem, too. I just got paid and everything sounds so good ... It's so bad, though. Stupid commercials, there are like two or three national chains that are offering 3 courses for under 13 bucks. I was like, WTF. Why now? Why when I'm doin' so good?

Damn the man, screw the weekend, and just try to keep focused. At least you know one more person that struggles with the weekends, too. It helps to not feel alone when something or some situation sucks. :)

Remember: Bad Thai, bad! :drooling:

Thanks for visiting my diary. Your support is much appreciated.

I am pleased that you have lost your holiday gain. I knew that you could get rid of it in no time.

Like you - I always find it easier to eat sensibly if we do not go out to eat. You know what is in the food that you cook for yourself.

You say that you have not done exercise and then mention that you walk your dog. That is as valid exercise as spending time in the gym. Check it on a pedometer. I get steps on my pedometer all day long doing mundane tasks.

Good luck for your continued success.

Take care
Love
Margaret

So happy you got rid of it! :jump: lol

Yes, I'm with Margaret, get a pedometer!

You won't believe how much can add up with a potty walk! :rotflmao:

I have ZuZu trained to potty asap once outside so we can get right to a brisk walk w/o stopping.. :)

Hello

Just wanted to say I'm impressed and encouraged. As for being obese or morbidly obese... i just say I'm fat and get on with things. And at almost 300lbs (yes, finally shifted a pound or two!) I'm well aware my health is at risk. but that's why we're here, no? I think morbidly obese is what we WERE, when we were in denial and (as you say in your first post) refusing to change our diets or lifestyles yet hoping the fat would just melt away. Good luck on your journey!

Ehhh... I'm not real happy with the way things are going. Thursday was weird. I didn't have any thing in the fridge that really appealed to me for breakfast, so I just had a link of italian sausage and some green tea. By noon I felt so fatigued that I could barely put one foot in front of the other. So I had some lunch, a couple of English Muffin pizzas that I thought would do the trick. Then I did my workout. But I felt lousy all afternoon and into the evening, like I just wanted to lay on the couch and not move. So I've boosted my calorie intake but I still feel a little off, fuzzy in the brain and not bursting with energy as per my usual self. I also haven't lost any more weight (haven't gained though, which is still ok). Last night, out to dinner at Manuel's in Austin where they have the most amazing Chile Relleno en Nogada. Yes, I did. And it was worth it.

Tonight we're having company for dinner and my husband (The Chef) just got home from the market carting groceries. It looks like we're having oyster & artichoke bisque, steak with wild mushroom cream sauce, shrimp & tasso pasta, and tiramasu. Oy vey.

My house is a wreck. Hopefully I'll burn at least 300 cals cleaning it up today.

My goal was to hit 190 sometime this weekend but I think there's no way I'll make it now. Argh.

It floors me that you walk over 6 miles in the morning. I barely make it from the bed to the teapot.

This cracked me up..:rotflmao:

I'm the same way but w/coffee!

Everyone knows to not even think about talking to me until I've had my first cup! *Snorts* :D
I take after my dad.. I'm not a morning person!

*****

Sorry to hear about the issues.. :hug2:

Why don't you go to the store and pick out something healthy to add to the meal? That way it won't seem like yer dieting in front of them.. It'll just seem you picked out what you wanted onhce dinner is served?

Just an idea. ;)

*Hang in there!*

Hi Lagniappe

Thanks for visiting my diary.

Before you get some sort of complex about the distances that I walk I had better say that I am really lucky in that I am able to devote most of my time towards my weight loss project. I am not currently working so do not have to take a huge chunk out of my day to do that. I did work full time for many years - but am not doing that currently.

The vitamins that I take are as follows:
a one a day multivitamin
omega 3 fish oil
garlic oil
starflower oil
I am currently also taking echinacea because my husband had the sniffles last week but will stop that in a day or two.

The main reason for my choice of vitamins is that I am trying to feed my skin. I am hoping that it will deal with a lot of weight loss. So far I havent too much loose skin for my loss of weight (a bit at the top of my legs) and I want to end up with as little loose skin as possible. Make sure that zinc is in the multivitamin as it helps the skin.

Best wishes
Margaret

I posted the above in my diary for you - I am just making sure that you get it.

I am sorry that you are feeling as tired as that.

I find that a banana and a half litre bottle of water in my bag sees me through until the end of my walk. Mind you when I get in I am ready for my weetabix - and I have quite a substantial amount of milk in it.

If I am still hungry - then I have some more fruit.

I hope that you find a pattern of food / vitamins that gives you energy soon.

The meal that your husband prepared sounds delicious but also sounds like diet sabotage on a plate. Ask him to prepare something more calorie conscious for your next visitors - I am sure that a chef of his obvious calibre could make something which was just as delicious and less of a problem for your project. We all bend the rules when it comes to a social life - but when you are the host you have an option to bend the rules less severely.

Take care - and good luck with the milestone.
Best wishes
Margaret

I think I'll do that. I need to go out to pick up fresh flowers (a must for any dinner, I think) -- will pick up some zucchini while I'm at it (one of those green veggies I actually like). As far as tonight's dinner, the bisque is ok (no sugar, no flour), the steak is fine obviously (with a little of the sauce). If I can get him to go with a whole-wheat pasta, then I can have some of the pasta side dish, otherwise, it shall not touch my lips.

The tiramasu... that's going to be hard to pass up. I'll have to remember to kick him in the knee for bringing that home.

Margaret, thanks. You know, I give my 3 yr old an omega 3 supplement, but I never thought about taking one myself. I think I'll start that. I eat a LOT of garlic so I don't know if garlic oil would necessarily be something I'd need? I've heard of people taking various kinds of supplements and most of them, I've never heard of and have no idea what they do).
