Kureransu's Log.

The only thing I will suggest is this; regardless of whether or not you choose road, mountain, hybrid, comfort etc. for your style of bicycle. I recommend that you find a good reputable bicycle shop to do business with. The perceived value of a department store bike often falls short once you buy it and it needs work, accessories, etc

I use a road bike for the road and a mountain bike for off road. Hybrids make a nice compromise sometimes, and there is a newer style being pushed called a fitness bike which is basically a flat bar style of road bike with slightly beefier tires. Basically it is 95% road bike for speed and such but can probably handle a bit more with regard to potholes etc.

And don't be too concerned with size (your size, not the bike's), I'm still north of 300lbs and my 21lb Cannondale road bike with skinny tires works just fine with my bulk on it. They are built pretty strong.

yeah, my size was never a concern, since i am dropping pretty consistently. I figure i would have to order the bike unless there are specialized bike shops in the area. i've no clue as far as what type and such, i need to look into it. there are tons of trails in metro detroit, so i don't quite know yet. i'll keep you posted and the bike status.

i totally shortchanged my story. i forgot to post the results from today due to the ipod talk! I did the hour as mention earlier. I manager to hit 6.3 miles! i was estatic! it wasn't anywhere as difficult as it was last thursday, and i got it done. it also tallied 1001 calories! niiiice. after cool down it totaled out at 6.5 miles and 1073 calories. not bad if i do say so myself!

you are doing great with the exercise...i didnt do anything today..argh

photoshop class is going great...one problem is (argh) the people in my class really shouldnt be there you know..like if you dont know how to download a pic (seriously this guy asked my how to save a pic from his email) and you dont know what a toolbar is you shouldnt be in a photoshop class...some didnt know the dif between save and save as...are you kidding me!!

Ain't you turning out to be the right stud with everyone commenting on your weight-loss. You're about to pass me out you git, good motivation for me to keep losing :p

Nice job on the eliptical. I get such a rush from seeing that 999 number flip into 1000. What resistance level do you work on?

Regarding the bicycling conversation, I just started doing that and I LOVE it. Since it's a new exercise for me, I'm still huffin and puffin and my body is broken down by the time I'm done, but damn if that isn't one of the best feelings in the world... especially when you climb what looks to be an impossible hill.

I too need to invest in an adequate bike. They have a local bike shop here and they're probably a lot more expensive than what I could pick up at a target, but it'll probably be worth the investment.

Anyway, enjoy your vacation and keep kicking all sorts of ass!

Hey boy!!!!! :)

well well well.... go get yourself a bike and truck it on over here to good ol PA and have a mountain bike ride with me!!!! hehe. Im not gonna lie... i discovered bones in my ass i never knew existed after that bike ride!!!!! HAHAHA.

man today was hard! I did both cardio and circuits today! 30 min on elliptical then my 3 circuits. I burn about 500 calories in the half and got a little of 3 miles! i am worn out like no other! geeze o pete! today is sleep sleep sleep! when i get out of here i am soooo done. i am going to totally crash! anyway, how is everyone doing? i am responding to everyone's replies in the next reply, so stay tuned!

ymcachick:

Thanks for stopping by! I am resistance level 15 on the elliptical and as of right now i am hoovering around 6.5 mph. one day i'll be able to do nine! speaking of vacation, i can't wait to go! i am soon approaching a burn out due to the intense routine i have going on. I guess its the combination of that and work, i am just fatigued... I wanted to take a week off a couple weeks ago, but i figured i could hold out til next week is over. Today, a guy was like find a gym out there to keep going.. I replied "i'm not looking for anything! i want nothing to do with anything i do here in Michigan besides rest and eat! that is the point of vacation, to take a step away from everyday life and relax!" he agreed and laughed. he told me i had enough motivation to come back after my vacay. and he's right. i just need a solid amount of rest for a reset!

melissa:
I listen to ALL types of music while on the elliptical anything from the yeah yeah yeahs, to dave matthews band, to boyz 2 men, to coldplay, to frou frou, to orchestrated videogame soundtracks to.. you get the picture. yeah i hope my bum can survive the dreaded bike seat!

Man, I find reading your posts to be so awe-inspiring as to be almost disheartening. :)

I don't know how you can workout at that level. If I get an hour's walking in, I consider that a good day.

I can't imagine how I am ever going to get as active as you.

I am hoping to get a membership at the rec centre soon. That may give me a bit of a jolt, one that I think I need right now.

I can tell you how you are going to get as active as me. one day at a time. I didn't start that way believe me. just last year i was in pain playing tennis and the year before that i was pain just walking for longer than 10 minutes. you push through and your body adjusts. no magic here, just your body understanding that your mind is wanting to take care of it. so it works with you to get to that goal. you'll be there in the next couple months if you push for it, i guarantee

Yeah, I know. It's just that I've always considered myself to be in pretty good shape for someone of my size.

But then I look at what you (and the other super-workout folks on the board) and all I see is where I'm not. I know it's stupid, and instead I should be looking at where I am (which is probably a lot better than many people my size) and where I'm going (which is to a place closer to where you're at). I just happen to be a bit of a negative person when it comes to looking at myself.
I'm also sick right now, and that always puts me in a negative spin.
Sorry for whining at you. :)

no worries, man. everyone needs to get things off their chest. you gotta not be so hard on yourself though man. i know we are our own worst critic, but the moment you start realizing what you can do as opposed of what you can't, or better yet, have gotten to as of right now, the more you will do. its the mind that makes all of this possible. your mind is what made you big and it is what will make you small. your body tells you by getting bigger, but our minds ignore it until we look in the mirror and want to cry. but it also works the other way, where one day you will look in the mirror and smile. its how it goes ma. you bady will tell you its happy by slimming down, and its up to your mind to keep at it and push it more. it wants to do more. our bodies adapt to things so fast its not even funny. so just set your goals and go after them. seriously dude, its all in the head!

thursday

Ok guys i am all settle in at my desk and half ready to work! got my cardio in, and man was it good! it also helped that i was well into la la land by 8pm last night, giving me a solid 8-8,5 hours of sleep. Wings won i noticed, so a rematch is going down for the stanley cup. i just hope our guys are healed enough by sat. I did my 6.3 miles 1003 calories burn. awesome times. i never count the cool down, which adds like another 70 cals and .2 miles or what not. I was sweating like no tomorrow! there were puddles of sweat on the ground under where my forearms were and you can visibly see the sweat rolling down my shirt since it was holding all it could already. disgusting i tell you. but at lesat i know i work hard! I'll check back for more diaries/journals/logs/quests, as the day progresses, its still pretty early here, so. have a good day all!

sweating buckets aye??? i always imagine thats fat melting off :). I havent been good with my exercise the last few days. I am walking every now and then but not running like i was..fak a dak....

today i will definitely get my cardio in..no matter what. i think i am more active with being off work.

anyway Game 1 tomorrow nite...fun fun fun!!!

Sooooo today i got the okay to work from home, which means i'll probably do it this weekend at sometime :) Today was ok at the gym i was there for 3 hours but only 1.5 hours was aorking ot. i got interrupted about 90% through my workout so i called it quits. i think i did 2.5 out of 3 circuits, plus a half hour of cardio. There was a woman who anted to jump vertical jumps with me, so i went and got her and it took a minute to get her courage up to do it, but she finally did it and she really enjoyed it so that was cool. we got to talking and she was telling em how the elliptical doesn't work for her because she never loses anything on it. She was told to use the treadmill instead. The thing is she has bad knees from running when she was younger, so she hates it. I told her that she was probably using the elliptical wrong, and i was right. I told her, what a lot of people do is just go on it. and turn the resistance up when it gets easy. she agreed. I told her that's bad, because unlike the treadmill the elliptical doesn't set a pace for you, you are responsible for it. SOO if the more tired you get the slower you go, then you will never get a workout, however, if you choose a challenging speed and try to maintain that the whole time you are on it, i guarantee you will see different results. SHe was happy to hear that and tried 15 min at 5 mph on level six. She lasted 14 lol. but now she knows can go back to it! i felt great.

In other news i am up to 8 pullups now and now i can do all types with no hassle.i can even put my legs out in front to get the abs in there as well. hardcore man, hardcore! I did a cheat weigh in just to see if i was on track for mondays goal, and i was at 270, which is the least i want to be at monday. so i am hoping i keep it off and then some come monday at weigh in! I have a yoga session at 12:30 and tennis at 5:30. I got my hair cut for the weddings this weekend about an hour ago, and i still have some stuff to do for work.. I am on track baby. I think i am all out of info here. yeah nothing's coming to me. oh 8 DAYS TIL VACATION!!! i'll miss you guys, but at the same time i won't. When i go on vacation i take a step away from life, and that includes this as well, but i'll be back the following sunday with plenty to say! but that's a week from now so i'll be on all day today.
