Kureransu's Log.

Hey everyone,

I've been lurking for quite some time and i guess i finally decided its my turn. So here it goes....

I am a pretty big guy. period. I am one that is "big boned" but i am also fat as well. A couple years ago i decided that i wanted to lose weight. I believe i was around 350-380 at the time. Well over the two years i loly-gagged and went to the gym in spurts. got down to about 345 after the first year, and then 330 as of like Jan. 1st. My new years resolution was to put ME first and lose this weight once and for all. I've given myself the whole year to get down to 200 lbs. I'm 5'8". I originally said 180-190, but i was told that i have a naturally muscular build and that that weight would make me look sickly. So i'll go to 200 and see what I feel like. Most people guess me at about 260, so i feel good about that because were like 70 pounds off. OK, that si the back log. Now lets get you guys up to date.

This year, as i stated before i started off at 330. The first two weeks of the year, i began to change my diet even more, and i even went to the gym once, just to break the ice of me going regularly. After those first two weeks, things took off.

I know hit the gym 6-7 times a week, and i have it in my mind that my day does not begin until i have been to the gym. SO it is always the first thing i do EVERY MORNING i am scheduled too. I do circuit training, full body, mon, wed, and fri. With a 5-15 min cardio warm-up. The opposite days (not every sat, but some) I do 65 min on the elliptical (5 min cooldown). I try to make sure i hit 7 miles on the thing everytime.

As of now i am down 19 lbs at 311. I weight my self every monday for progress. I am not a big forum poster, but i will try to keep you guys as updated as possible. Good luck to you all and chat you soon!

Great job on the big loss you've achieved thus far!

You and I have some pretty similar goals. At my heaviest I was around 350lb. When I started my most recent attempt several weeks ago I was just a fraction less than 330lb. Oh, and my current goal weight is also 200lb, despite what my ticker currently says.

I will definitely be checking in on you and following your progress. Good luck! :biggrinjester:

Yeah 200 Is by goal as well. I'll follow your progress at well, since we are pretty much starting and ending at the same place.

May as well log today.

Had plain oatmeal added with whey protien, a banana and a glass of water for breakfast.

Hit the gym-cardio day. 65 min on the elliptical at at least 7mph.

two turkey burgers grilled (only two slices of bread) and a yogurt.

unsalted dry roasted peanuts and raisins for snack.

steamed broccoli and half of a grilled chicken breast wraped in whole grain tortilla with a tablespoon of hummous.

:hurray:Way to go on your loss so far! Love your gym time dedication. You will see so many more benefits than just how you look in the mirror - though that is perhaps the nicest one :coolgleamA:

Keep up the great work

Thanks ABBA!

I just want to let you know that i love your energy here on the forums and appreciate how you try to keep everyone you possibly can motivated! Surely good things w\ill come of that if they haven't already. Well, off to the gym i go!

ok so today i got up early an hit the gym. today is full body stregnth training with a little more focus on the legs. I do it circuit style, so that i get cardio benefits at the same time. Was pretty intense, but i got it done, and am debating doing cardio tomorrow or just having a rest day.

So today was kind of blah. car is in the shop.... Says it'll be ready tomorrow, but i wan to go do cardio!!!! food consumption was as normal, although i got one more meal and possibly a snack to go. but here is what i had so far.

Bowl of cheerios w/milk
protein bar following the workout
a yogurt
a tuna fish sandwich with a tablespoon of shreaded cheese and a handful of unsalted dry roasted peanuts.
most likely grilled chicken breast and broccoli for dinner same as yesterday..(i really want to order Chinese food tonight, but no car).
maybe raisins if i get a little hungry tonight after dinner-or and full of cheerios

I hope I can express the same level of enthusiasm and dedication to an exercise routine one of these days. Hearing me say, "I wanna do cardio!!" is about as likely as hearing me say "I wanna go to the dentist!!"

Keep up the good work, and as mentioned in my reply to you in my own journal, I'm a big supporter of calorie counting in conjunction with planning calorie intake based on your RMR and BMR. Seems like a surefire way to lose the weight and keep it off.

I guess for me, calorie counting is something i have never wanted to do, it may be lazy, but I just can't see myself logging that. Logging calories makes me feel like i am on a diet, which i am not. i have changed my diet to fit the lifestyle i feel i now live (I play tennis 3-4 times a week march-nov). I pretty much eat until not hungry, as opposed to full, which leads me to eat about 5-6 (maybe 7) times a day. Since i have been hitting the gym the last 3 weeks i have lost an average of 5 lbs a week, which i am more than content with. based on that I assume my metabolism is doing its job well and i must be on the right track. And i am pretty sure myu intake isn't the same everyday, which i am fine with in the sense that my metabolism will never settle. My theory was when the weight slows, i'll eat more if necessary just to make sure i am not storing anything as fat. Maybe I should try it as a guide, but i guess i felt that I can make the food decisions on my own.

It looks like what you're doing is working so more power to you! :) As I've seen mentioned over and over on these forums, there's certainly no one right way to do things, eh?

And yes, I can see where the whole calorie counting idea can feel too much like a diet tactic as opposed to a lifestyle change. Believe me, I have no intention of weighing my food and keeping a food log for the rest of my life, but for the moment it's really helping. I also use the computer program I input my food into to calculate vitamin intake, fat/carb/protein percentages, and other nutritional information so that I can adjust my diet accordingly until I know I'm finding a good balance. I'm a vegetarian, so finding that balance can be a challenge sometimes. :ack2:

WOW! That makes it a lot harder to get in all your nutrients i would imagine. I'm a poultry only guy myself, but i don't think i could ever cut out meat. thanks for the input and i look forward to seeing you ticker continue to push to the right!

lol, just saw your post in the other thread. Stop stalking me! ;)

As for being a vegetarian, nah, it's not so bad. It's only tricky in the beginning when you have to rethink the traditional idea of what goes on a plate (in America anyway). Soy and multivitamins takes care of the rest. :biggrinjester:

well that's good to hear. I guess i need to post a pic of myself as well. soon.... very sooon. BTW, what day do you weigh in?

I've been weighing in on Fridays because it just happens to be the day I bought a scale that could actually weigh my fat ass :)

bored

I was bored all day to day, so i went ahead and hit the gym. did 65 min on the elliptical, so it was just a bonus cardio day. I am patiently awaiting monday so i can move this ticker down some more.

Love your dedication man. Looking forward to seeing your Monday #'s. :D

love the input

thanks guys! i love the input from you. Unfortunately i had had a birthday celebration this week. I foresee 2-4 pounds this week, which isn't bad at all. I plan on hitting 2 milestones either way. 20 lbs lost and under 310! I have to say its like a first step thing. I don't feel complete if i don't go to the gym. Its kind of like an addiction. And i don't mind it at all. Tomorrow is another 65 min of cardio, followed by two hours of bowling. I really need to take a pic of myself, its only fair.
