hopefully you get there =D
but dont worry if you dont...
like you said it will work itself
out in the end. it will for us all!

Hello my friend,

Sorry to hear that yesterday was pain, but glad to see you back in your routine. I think I burn a few extra calories per day just thinking about you getting up so early in the morning and hitting the gym.

I'm totally psyched for Monday morning to see you post that sub 300 number. You should take a picture and post it :) And if you don't get under 300, no big deal. You know very well you'd get there the following week.

Keep up the amazing work.

as far as i know keeping your heart rate up is what makes cardio, well cardio, there is a target heart to follow, i believe it is 60-80% of peak performance, whereas 90% would be something you hit during interval training.

As far as what i do,it goes like this. I use the elliptical, so the speed depends on you. use that over the treadmill, because need really good shoes to prevent my shins for burning like crazy, it is said you get the same workout from either machine. but anyway, when i go i set a goal of at least 7 miles. which means i go about 7 miles an hour on the thing. of course its a bit easier because you don't have to deal with the imapct from actually running. today i did 7.5 miles in the 6.5 min (5 min for cool down), but i was at 7.16 when i actually hit an hour, so a little over 7 mph. I try to stick with what i decide. monday i did 8.03 miles, which wore me out! but it was fun.

ok next. Getting up to an hour. its all in your head! i said i could never do anymore than 30 min on a good day. then one day, i finished and got to thinking that i could probably go for an hour if i wanted to, so i tried it and it was fine. this was maybe a month ago. it felt like forever, but i pushed through it. my suggestion starting out is to cover the time and just listen to music. It helps a ton. Nowadays, its a breeze. i feel cheated when i can't do an hour. I also no longer need to cover the time or need my music. its just habit now.

so in summation, don't let your mind trick you into thinking you can't do it. I will say this though, there will be a point where you feel like you can't do much more, and its just in your head. If you push through it, your body will get a second wind of sorts and you can keep going. i have a friend who started coming with me the past week and he has already done an hour. i worked him up to it, but he got it done. he goes 5-6 miles an hour though, but everyone goes at their own pace. I have a ton of stamina from playing tennis and such, so that is why i go a steady 7-8 mph. Also on my strength training days, i do circuits so that i keep the heart rate beating while lifting, giving me additional cardio along with it.

hope that helps!

oh and don't worry about the girl thing. i am just glad i clarified in time!

oh one more thing, if you feel comfortable running at that speed where you are not about to apss out then i think you are doing fine! i think i can get about 3/4 of a mile at 6mph before my shins get upset.

seriously if we could bottle your self motivation & determination re workouts we'd make a fortune!! re your mention of the mind playing tricks...

theres a zen buddhist saying...

'be master of mind...
rather than mastered by mind'.

you my friend are most definitely the former!!:)

late night shenanigans

hello all. today was a late night for me, as i am usually sleep for about 2-3 hours in by now. i had a networking event for my field "(animation) where i was showing off some of my works and models for all to see. afterwards we went to a coffee and relaxed and talked for a couple hours. i am soo hungry so i think i am going to fix a little something to eat. I need to plan my meals better when working. we are at a point where 8 hour days aren't happening, so i need to bring more food. i always plan for 8 and eat accordingly, when it goes over. i end up starving. no matter. i'll eat and stay up an extra hour to digest, as i don't plan on hitting the gym til about 10am later today. even though i know i should probably eat light before bed, i am totally having a tukey burger and i will enjoy it to no end! i'll work it off tomorrow and get hardcore as ever on sunday and monday! i will be all smiles when i see 2XX..... its coming, i feel it!

oh i sincerely thank everyone for stopping by. i am glad you admire my motivation, i just hope that its contagious! Like i said before, in my mind this weight is lost. I am just putting the required worked to ensure my payment of lost weight.

hmmm.... yeah it does sound important for you to start taking an extra bit of food...
i hate the feeling of being hungry... haha especially when your tummy growls in
the middle of a quiet room xD

have fun today!

so this morning was quite eventful. I started out by hitting the gym around ten, realized i lost my lock (5th time!) so i had to go buy a new one. normal 65 min of cardio, pulling in 8.2 miles on the elliptical. not bad at all. following me and a friend (kinda like a workout buddy, got him to join last week, be he needs someone there in order for him to want to come there) went out for breakfast. following that, bowled a couple games since we had free game passes that expired tomorrow, and here i am posting now. no idea what the rest of the day holds, but man if the nets were up i would be on the tennis court. i miss it soo much. i'm sure i am much fast than i was last year, witha lot more stamina to boot as well. just a few more weeks i'm sure and we'll be back out there. anywayz chat ya laters!

things are bleak..

did the normal sunday routine. 65 min of elliptical, 2 hours of bowling a few hours of rockband. but when i hit the gym today i weighed myself just to see what was going on.. and i weigh the same. i am dissapointed, but not discouraged. it was bound to happen and there are a number of factors on my end that let to the loss of nothing this week. i just wanted to heppne when i was sub 300, but one more week won't kill me so there is that. i still have til tomorrow, so maybe it will drop at least one pound. we'll see. blah blah. i really need to figure out a plan of action for work. i am there too long with too little to eat and i end up in starvation mode. as well i'll figure it out, i always do!

Wow... you are doing great on exercise... I wish I was more motivated with this..
I almost haven't done any exercise..... only dieting....
Hope I will try to do more...

Good luck on your 2nd week challenge! =D

bitter sweet symphony...

so here we are weigh in today.. As i stated yesterday, i had lost nothing (i don't look at decimals). so i knew sub three hundred was next weeks goal. however i did lose 1 pound! no complaints here, glad to not be standing still. I can live with 29 pounds in 2 months. I am, very satisfied with myself and how things are going. this week starts a new weight regiment. I am doing splits. i believe it is called german volume training. where i do super sets of antagonist muscle groups (chest and back, biceps and triceps, quadriceps and hamstrings and also core along with shoulders for good measure) i do 10 sets of 10, then for my second set of weights 3 sets of 8. so far so good. takes about a hlaf hour, so i will be in the gym less, but i am ok with that! gotta keep challenging those muscles or i will see no gains. So schwa, the party is on hold for another week bro. but it'll be great when it happens.

oh by the way, i know what happened here. NO SLEEP. I need sleep to burn. period. i just was up tooo late and not sleep much at all. yesterday i was in bed before 8:30 and sleep. woke up at 5 hit the gym and here i am about to make a post workout breakfast and lunch for work. i'll make sure i get enough sleep this week!

iwantokeepfit, when you say diet i hope you mean lifestyle change of eating habits. diet is taboo, its a temp fix. but working out is awesome! you get away with a lot more when you woprk out well, because you are working out. if you stay strict while working out, you get massive gains, but you also get to eat more by default from working out because you body will burn through SO MUCH FOOD its not even funny. anyway, thanks for the cheering in week 2. i need to post my food intake for fri sat and sun and i will be back on track! have a good day all

another day another 65 min of elliptical action... not much to report. Work is busy as ever, but i am making sure i get my sleep in too this week. i have goal that i need to hit!

it also seems that i have lost my fan base, and schwa has disappeared :(

NOOOOOO!!!! you didnt! i am here. i was having a rough week and didnt post much of ANYTHING on here. I felt that way too though when i finally logged on yesterday... i was like... where are all my peeps!!!?!?!?! they left me!!!!!

way to go on the pound.... isnt funny how one week you can drop 3 lbs and the next you will see like 2 ounces drop and thats it lol.

keep up the good work.. .i need some of your determination.... i sucked it up REAL BAD last week!!!

thanks M Marie. I need to hear from someone. haha. i was beginning to think i was on my own again. anyway, my one pound loss sucked because i wanted to be sub 300 first, but hey the scale is still moving in the right direction, so no worries here! i'll be over to catch up on your journal and talk more about it there.

a lb is a lb and nothing shabby at all abt 29 in 2 months...damn if i could do tha ti would be close to my mini goal...

I hear sleep is good, I wouldnt know but I hear it is, LOL...

Sorry buddy. I had some bad days and couldn't bring myself to hop on the forums. No worries. I have returned with new resolve!

Excellent job on your well deserved pound. Today at work I found myself thinking about your Monday weigh-in and wondering whether or not you broke the 300 barrier. It doesn't sound like you're discouraged with the loss you achieved this week, which is great because you certainly shouldn't be. You’ll probably drop some ungodly amount next Monday :D

Hmm, or maybe you've hit a plateau and I can beat you to the 200 club!!! LOL, I'm kidding I'm kidding. I wouldn't wish a plateau on anyone :) Keep up the great work.

good to see you back schwa, i figured you partied too hard and was in recovery. the statement was to simply bait you back on here! SO the workout today.... legs... squats and leg curls at 10 sets of 10. sqyats were at 155lbs(
could have done more, but was my first time so i played it safe). curls were at 150lbs. oh. my. gawd. followed by leg extentions (at 195) and stiff leg dead lifts(at 95lbs) at 3 sets of 8. my legs were shaking sooo much post workout i thought i was going to collapse! it feels good but man what a workout! i am pretty sure my body is shocked out this work with this workout, which is good, i feel confident about next weeks loss with this new workout. Also, i've been sleep a lot more now (in bed between 8 and 10).

here's a side note. I find this funny. i was talking to one of the regulars (all of the morning crew are regulars, and we were talking about how this isn't something we think about anymore. i would say its like going to work, but there hasn't been a day where i didn't want to go workout. its like i am trained. i get up and just hit the gym. no thought about it. In other words i subconsciously do it, which i consider myself lucky to be "trained" like that. I would say the process went like this.

1. motivated- you just starting out and can't wait to hit the grind.

2. reluctant- you start making excuses or pushing back times to go

3. addicted- you are seeing results and can't wait to get back in there to burn, burn, burn!

4. second nature- you just get up make preparations and go, not even really thinking about it, kinda like waking up and going to the rest room.

that's it. i have hit the second nature level and i am soo happy to be there. my life is planned around my fitness, not the other way around. and looking at the morning regulars, i can say it works well! hahahah

64 and sunny...

Well i didn't post yesterday. yup. now that that's out the way. let's get to it. yesterday i only did 45 min of cardio, instead of my normal 65. its no biggie i was still sore in the legs anyway. Today. i did biceps and triceps with a little bit of shoulders for good measure. I feel like mush.. but i feel great as well. life is good indeed. right i am at work, counting the hours down because today...I PLAY TENNIS!! it is finally warm enough to get out there, and i know just the pace with nets still up that we can play til out hearts content. it is sooo exciting. i have all my gear in the trunk, adn man o man cna 4 not com fast enough. SO i'll ask? do you guys have any athletic hobbie sthat you love. I also do bowling every sunday, but the passion is not there like it is for tennis. tennis is a rush! anyway, i'll stop ramblin'.

With the exception of snow skiing I really don't have any athletic hobbies that I can say I'm passionate about. But man, there's nothing like making your way down the diamonds in the Rockies after a big dump of fresh snow. When I first moved to VA I'd head out to Colorado every winter and spring for a couple of weeks, but I haven't been out there in years due to my weight gain.

I’ve seen you talking about your anticipation over playing tennis, so I’m glad to see you getting the opportunity to play. Have fun!

Nice effort on ya workouts :)
