Cohen's Lifestyle Kristy's Journey... =)

Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
Hi everyone,

Had some time before work so thought I'de jump on and say hello.

The scales only dropped 100grams today - dammit! I thought my day with no bread/carbs would help me drop about 500grams or so.. but oh well. Sitting 900grams above end refeed weight. Not a huge deal, but still don't like it! I guess it is a good thing that I know even this little bit of weight bothers me a tad and that I will do what I need to get it off quick. It gives me insight for my future that I will not ever gain it back.

I started my day with a 40 minute brisk walk at 5.30am - what a beautiful morning! The muscles in my legs are feeling quite tight at the moment - so I guess the rise on the scales could also be from the exercise. Breakfast was yoghurt with mango and I have a Tuna, Salad and 3 crackers for lunch, an apple for a snack and 2 crackers with vegemite.

Off to dinner tonight. Hopefully I'll be in a good frame of mind to pick something smart! Its an italian restaurant - eek! I will stay away from the pizza and pasta...I hope!!

I dont like the maintenance rule of if you have carbs u have to have dessert ... so if u want dessert, u have to have carbs. I'm not really wanting to eat carbs much at all, maybe only when I go out to eat...but Chris and I are planning to stick to meat & veges for dinners. Cate (if you're reading) do you ever have dessert without having carbs? Last night I had a dark chocolate mousse after dinner and then realised whoops I had not had any carbs before.

Well best be off to work....
Have a good Monday everyone!

Kristy- You made me laugh sweets! It's not compulsory to have sweets if you have carbs with your meal, but it is recommended to have a little serve of carbs with you meal if you fancy having dessert. I rarely eat dessert but if I do when I'm out I usually have just a little potato- even a few chips off someone else's plate.
Re- your question about the other desserts. I have flavoured low-fat yoghurt every day but steer clear of mousses etc as once I have something really sweet all I want is more!
Enjoy your dinner out tonight. You'll get on top of the slight gain quickly & that is the way to go. I stick to Cohen's mainly but eat what I fancy when I go out, which is not often. It is still usually within the Cohen's guidelines though. When I slacken off occasionally that is when I put on a few kgs.I have eaten a few icecreams lately which probably accounts for my fattish-feeling stomach atm. My advice is stick to the guidleines & you'll be right! xoxo Cate

Hiya Cate

My consultant said 'no carbs, no dessert' and 'no dessert, no carbs' - which I thought meant you have to always have them together?! it really didn't seem to make much sense. So it all it means is if you want a dessert, you just have to make sure you have a bit of carbs before. But you dont HAVE to have some sweet everytime after you eat carbs? Ahh that makes more sense!!!

My dinner out was nice. I had a chicken parm with salad and ate only about 50grams of potatoes. I had one small slice of my friends pizza. For dessert we had san churro. Evil! We shared a serving for one person so it was only a small amount. I don't feel over full at all but still scared of the scales tomorrow. I just cant help but not weigh.

I will get up for my walk again tomorrow, have mango & yoghurt for breakfast, sliced turkey breast with 25gram slice of cheese and salad for lunch, will stick to crackers and an apple if I need to have snacks and dinner will be a kangaroo fillet and veges before I head off to get my hair done at a friends tomorrow night. Planning to be really good and stay away from any bread/carbs/sugary foods/bad fruits for the next 4 days as I want to see if I can drop this little bit I gained before the weekend. We have valentines day dinner out on Sunday and its 4 courses!

Thanks for responding Cate, appreciate it. I think I'm in a better frame of mind tonight than I was all day. I was so anxious and was feeling real disappointed in myself...but tonight I proved I can make smarter choices and not go overboard.

Will go catch up on everyones elses diaries now
Catch you all later :)

Hi everyone,

Had a pretty good day. Began the day with a 45 minute walk, yoghurt & mango for breakfast. Scales were up by 200grams today, not so bad after having san churro last night.

Work was pretty busy so my day went really fast. Lunch was turkey and salad with 3 crackers, snacks were a banana and an apple... about to have Kangaroo fillet and vege's for dinner. So had a good cohens day and hoping for a slight drop on the scales tomorrow.

Off to get my hair done after dinner, woohoo! Not much else to say from me right now, talk to you all soon :)

Hehe, it's to die for! But definately can not make it a regular thing. i will be near there again on Tuesday night for my birthday dinner, but better stay away!!!

*sigh* my day did not go as planned. I took in my chicken salad for lunch, crackers & fruit for snacks. There ended up being morning tea (we have it once a month for everyones birthdays in that month)... I had a piece of ricotta baked cheesecake. Felt bad because I didnt have it after a meal or after carbs...opps. I wasn't hungry for lunch because that was so filling, so ended up skipping my chicken salad and I just got 4 small pieces of sushi and had my fruit..... was not even hungry in the arvo but do you think I could stay away from the cake?! DAMMIT! I had another piece! grrr at myself. Was not hungry for dinner at all tonight (chris was going to make fish curry with rice) so just ended up having yoghurt and mango...

I guess I'll have days like this sometimes. Just got to remember a little bit of things is enough, and I can't revert back to old ways.

On a good note, I got my hair done last night...and it looks nice. She cut a little bit too much off the ends, so probably won't be able to curl my hair for my birthday drinks next weekend like I had planned. But I'm sure my hairdresser will find something nice to do to it.

Phew, still lots coming up in the next week and a bit. Will keep a close eye on the scales. I have a feeling I'm sitting +1kg because of fluid perhaps - I thought I might shoot up a little bit once I started maintenance and introduced different foods my body is not used to. Nothing to stress about. I do not feel or look any different and my clothes are actually feeling looser.

Well i'll go catch up on some peoples diaries now.
Night all! xo

Kristy I found that I continued to reduce in size even after finishing the weight-loss part of the program. Your skin will firm up as well, especially as you are young, xo Cate

I'm silly for not taking my measurements as diligently as I should have, so I am able to monitor these things. *sigh*, better late than never I guess, I'll do that today.

Today I'm feeling awful and staying home from work to rest. I have a bad headache and earache, and generally feeling down in the dumps. Not sure why, I dont really have a reason to.

Apart from the small gain this morning from the cake! But had to be expected.

Today I'm starting a 48hour reset with the hope I'll drop at least 500grams over the next 2 days. I'll feel so much better if I'm in the lower 57's before the valentines dinner on Sunday.

I'm off to make some an omlette with mushies for breaky. Talk to you all soon.
K xo

Kristy- take care of yourself. Flu is going around here at the moment. reset should see you drop weight very quickly, xo Cate

Thanks Cate, am resting up.

Popped out to quickly do the food shopping this morning. I was proud that I did not get ANYTHING bad what so ever in the shopping so I do not have any temptations in the house. There were things that I wanted but I just know that if they are there, I'll eat them without thinking about it.

For 'dessert' I bought a 4 pack of the Vaalia Lemon Creme yoghurts. Looking forward to trying them out but I'll wait until the weekend.

I was hungry while I was out and was tempted to go to Gloria Jeans to get a latte or a banana muffin - but I resisted temptation. And now I am very glad that I did too. I feel good for it. I came home and made myself a chicken salad with the hot bbq chicken I got from Coles and it was lovely. I had a big serve so I would not get hungry at all this afternoon and be tempted to have anything 'carby'. I still have my fruit allowance left and 3 crackers so I'll be fine.

Off to watch a movie on the couch now.

Ciao

Kristy- Be proud. I'm proud of you too! I think you're making great choices. Every time you resist a sweet temptation/empty food choice I think you are strengthening your resolve & helping ensure you stay strong & slim! I say
Good for you Kristy!
You are cruising sweetheart! :driving:
You are being a really good & strong role model! Well done Kristy!
xoxo Cate

Thanks Cate, I'm proud of myself. I had no idea I would be able to be this strong in maintenance. It's awesome to still have my determination and to be able to resist temptation and say no!!

I watched 'Couples Retreat' this afternoon, was average. Didn't enjoy it that much. I stuck to my guns today - the only 'extra' thing I had was 1 slice of light cheese on 2 of my crackers in the afternoon with a smidge of vegemite. I had a plan size dinner because I wasn't that hungry - just grilled chicken with mushrooms and cauliflower, then some fruit after dinner and now Im good. No more food for tonight!!!

Fingers crossed for a small loss tomorrow. Have organised myself for tomorrow. Will have egg & mushrooms for breakfast, got a chicken salad for lunch and fruit & crackers as snacks. Not sure what for dinner yet. We may go out and get some nandos or something.

All is good! Thanks for your kind words Cate, I appreciate them =o) and I hope I am a good role model for future cohens grads! Its really all about getting into the right mind set, and the sooner into maintenance you realise you don't need to eat everything in sight, the better!

Ciao for now!

Hey Kris, sounds like you are doing great on maintenece and have really got your priorities straight, gives us hope for when we are eventually there :)

Are you feeling a bit better now? Read you were feeling a bit off? Hope you are. I also wasn't very impresses with Couples Retreat think i was looking quite forward to it and it looked so funny but wasn't all that in the end.

How do you make your chicken when you have chicken and veg, do you spice it or just plain? So bored with the way i make it i will take any advice i can get right now :)

Will cross fingers for you for a small loss in the morning!!

Take it easy and feel better.

xxx

Hey Ang! Nice to hear from you :)

Thanks for the kind words - guess I feel like I'm starting to see what maintenance is all about. I thought to myself earlier, if I can get through the first 3 weeks of maintenance and manage to keep my weight in check with how many dinners and things I have on for my birthday - I can do it anytime!!!!!!! Im just taking it one day at a time and remembering all of the things I have learnt. My way of eating is the cohens way of eating now and thats what I enjoy as I know I'm feeding my body good food, and that way I'll feel good!!!! And then its nice just to know I have the option to treat myself here and there ... and then I'll enjoy it oh so much than before when I just ate whatever and whenever.

Hmmm I don't do very much with my chicken really. Normally I just season it with salt, pepper and paprika. I cook it in my george foreman for about 3 mins (depending on the thickness) and it creates a nice crunchy layer on the top. No oil or anything. I like my meat quite plain. I never really did anything more than salt, pepper and paprika all the way through plan. I did really enjoy the chicken & asparagus soup for a change though, have you tried that? If not, I'll try track down the recipe or remember it.

Well Im feeling pretty tired seeing as I didnt do too much today. Just 20 mins of light walking in the arvo. Getting up for a nice brisk walk in the morning with maybe a bit of jogging. Watching the Biggest Loser tonight has inspired me to push myself a little more.

Catch you all later :)

Hey Kristy, wow you are doing so great! You're a true inspiration. I have a loooong way to go before I get to the refeed/maintenance.

Are you allowed bread on the refeed? I'm completely into Cohen's now and see this as my future forever however I do miss a little bread now and again.

Keep up the excellent work and wish you well.
Mands

Hey Mands, thank you :) yes, you get bread on refeed. I got it from Day 1. You'll soon realise that once your on maintenance, bread will not be a big thing in your life anymore. I used to live off bread, sometimes have up to 6 pieces a day! Pwoah! I now avoid it as much as possible. Which this morning I am struggling with! I had yoghurt with banana and berries but because I just went for a 40 min walk/jog, I feel starving! I'm not going to give in to having toast! I'll wait it out and if I still feel hungry when I get to work, I might treat myself to a latte.

I feel good after my exercise this morning, I did quite a bit of running and already able to run for longer blocks. Im up from 30 seconds to about 90 seconds at a time. Im feeling a little sore! Was a bit peeved that the scales stayed exactly the same today, even after a perfect day yesterday - no carbs, sugar, only 2 fruit and 5 crackers. *sigh* oh well, maybe after another carb free day today I'll have a little drop. But Im thinking my body just likes 57.5. Its only 1kg up from end refeed weight, so can deal with that. I think I might set my buffer between 57-59. If I reach anywhere near 59 anytime, I know its time to get back on plan for a week or so.

Well, have a good day all. I'm having a quiet one tonight, so I'll be back to say hello.

Bye bye
K

Hi everyone!

Happy Friday Evening :) hope you all had a good day.

My day was pretty good. One highlight was that my boss bought in Krispy Kremes and I DIDNT HAVE A CRUMB! :) I was not even tempted...I know how extremley bad they are and I really wanted to stick to my 48hour reset. Which I have done :) Today I had;

Yoghurt with banana and blueberries
Chicken Salad
Feta Salad

Snacks: crackers and fruit. might try a lemon creme yoghurt after dinner.

Still crossing my fingers for a drop on the scales after my reset, but wont get my hpes up.

Tonight is just me and the couch and the tele. Up early tomorrow for a jog!

Talk to you all soon
Bye bye xo

Morning all,

Dropped 500grams on my reset, woohoo! So happy to go into the weekend a bit lower. I have dinner at the inlaws tonight and then valentines day dinner tomorrow night....

I started my day with a 45 minute walk/jog. I did 2 x blocks of nearly 5 minutes of jogging, yay! Last week Saturday I could only just jog 1 minute haha so it shows how quickly you can work up your fitness if you keep at it. I feel great. I came home and made myself a big breaky, because I was starving! An omlette with 2 eggs with mushrooms and 1 piece of toast. I'm really satisfied and not going to need any snacks this morning.

Im heading to my friends house around 11am to finish making my engagement invitations. Then she is making us savoury crepes for lunch. Im taking my big salad with me to go with it. Then off to the inlaws for dinner - they are doing a roast and Im sure something yummy for dessert. Normally they have about 3 desserts, but have promised to stick with one tonight. Should be a good day all round!

Have a good weekend all :)
K xo

Hey Kris, you are doing awesome in maintenance land! Did you find that exercise (during the programme) affected your weight loss? As in, as you gain muscle, your weight increases to show that? I am a bit confused on whether to start exercising now and then be on the programme longer. Or get the programme over with, and exercise during maintenance.. What are your thoughts?

Hey dietgrrl...!!!

I did not do very much exercise while on the program. I probably just did a light walk here and there - but did not stress about fitting exercise in regularly. I'de say don't stress about trying to fit it in, following the program 100% will be what makes you loose all the weight, exercise does not HAVE to be factored in. I'de leave it until maintenance :)

I've had a good weekend. Yesterday I went to my friends and we spent 4 hours finishing my engagement invitations, they look great!!! We had savoury crepes with chicken, cheese, capsicum, mushrooms, tomato & spring onion! Yum! We had it with a big garden salad and then for dessert we had just HALF a cupcake each that my friend had baked as a test for the engagement cakes (she is making my cakes for me). It was to die for! Last night was dinner at the inlaws. A nice roast lamb, too much dessert and 2 beers. This morning I paid for it - up 500grams! Grrr!

I started today with an hour walk with my lovely man, was going to do pancakes but decided I needed to be really good all day as we're going out for dinner. I had yoghurt & mango, we went for coffee at morning tea - had a skinny flat white and just a bite of Chris's carrot cake...eek, shouldn't have!!! Lunch was an original plan tuna salad with crackers, afternoon tea was an apple and about 10 grapes - which I couldn't finish? Felt too full. Weird.

We're off to dinner in 2 hours. So have to go and clean the kitchen up a bit, organise lunches for tomorrow and then get ready. Its really quite hot and sticky still, 31. Not sure what I'll wear. Was going to go with my new skinny leg jeans, a nice top and heels...but I think that will be too hot. I'll have to find a dress. I'm going to enjoy the dinner but stay away from alcohol, I think that is my killer. Tomorrow will be a 100% cohens day with the hope I drop a little before Tuesday (birthday!) as I'll be out for dinner that night.

Pwoah! Up & down. But least its not up, up, up! I'll get there. I hope my body is not always this sensitive and gain this easily.

Well, hope everyone had a good weekend and I'll drop by again soon.
Take care!
xoxo
