Hi all!!
Joined a few days ago and I'm addicted to this forum already! I come on at least a couple of times a day, even if I don't post anything, just reading all your successes and triumphs and motivating each other is often enough!!
Anyway. I'm kez, trying to lose the 40lbs I put on in my first 2 years of uni!! (see my thread in the newbie section)
I am doing well so far (been trying for about a month). Been doing it by restricting myself to 1000-1500kcals/day (depending on how busy my day is!)
I am trying to execise more too. I already walk EVERYWHERE as can't afford a car!! (at least an hour a day) but i'd like to up that a bit. Went to the gym yesterday, did a proper hardcore work out! Almost an hour and a half and I used nearly all the machines! Thought I'd be achey as h*ll this morn but I'm fine!
My housemate is taking me swimming in bout half an hour. I can't swim you see (or only a v slow, pathetic, doggy paddle for bout 25m!!) and she is a swimming teacher and has finally persuaded me to let her teach me to swim!! She has made it her challenge to teach me to swim 200m by the time I've lost the weight.
To be honest, I'm rather nervous!! She's like, a county standard swimmer and I can't do it, I had SO many lessons as a kid and just never got it. I'm worried it'll be really embarassing if I can't do it, you know? (even though we're really close!) And I think I still have a bit of that childish fear in me, of swimming pools etc. Sometimes even the smell of chlorine and I'll start feeling nervous again before I even realise why!!
BUT. Reasons to do it.
1) It's a bit pathetic, a 21 year old woman who can't swim!
2) Good exercise, fight the flab, variation from just working out in the gym
3) It's a good goal to work towards.
4) I have never ever let fear stop me from doing something. The fact that I am a bit nervous and scared is only more reason to do it!!
So on that happy and positive note I am going to go off and dig out my (very dusty) swimming costume fromt he back of the closet!!
I'd really like it if any of you want to post here
I'll post again tonight with how the swimming lesson went (if I don't drown in the process!!) and food for the day.
much love, think slim!!
