Kez tries again!!!

Week 1

It has gone well! I have done LOTS of exercise:
MONDAY 1 hour 20 mins walk and 1 hour water aerobics class
TUESDAY walk 1 hour 30 mins
WEDNESDAY walk 1 hour 30 minutes
THURSDAY Boxing workout 30 mins, aerobics workout 30 mins, walk 1 hour 20 mins
FRIDAY Week 1 session 1 couch to 5k and walk 1 hour
SATURDAY 1 hour brisk walk and 30 minutes yoga
SUNDAY Week 1 session 2 couch to 5k.

My food has also been good, I've been getting at least 5 portions a day of fruit and veg, and my calorie average is 1563, for the last 6 days (can't do today yet, it's only the morning!

I have had a couple of problems though. 1) was poorly at start of week, hence gentleness of exercise til Thursday! 2) Was VERY achey after Thursday's workout! 3) I am revising really hard at the mo for my finals, I'm so looking forward to them finishing, I can have a big break and make this fitness the top priority! 4) I had one of those low self-esteem moments last night, hence my last post. I hope it wasn't too depressing, and I can assure you I feel much better having slept on it!!

:D

Tomorrow's weigh day

*drumroll*

So I'll update in the morning, hopefully with good news!

Hey Kez,
You have worked out hard!! I'm sure you will be seeing those results. Do you incorporate any weight training in your weekly regimen??? Just wondering, that's what Tom suggested I do to help speed up the metabolism and tone up better. I was just wondering if you were doing any at the moment. You do a butt load of cardio and walking. That's so good!!!! I love that too. I hope the next time you step on the scale it will show you how hard you've worked. You've earned it!! Keep it up my friend!:)

Great job getting positive on yourself!! I certainly know it can be hard, but you're doing a great job! Keep it up!! Remember to LET yourself have snacks or favorite foods once in awhile as a treat, I find if I tell myself I acn have some junk food on Friday, I have an easier time getting through the cravings ;)

I'm burning a stick of incense, just for you!

Thank's I'll let you know if it worked lol! (and if it did I'll have you burn one for every weigh day! ;) )

Thanks for all the advice and support Nic :)

The funny thing is, I haven't really had cravings this week! I nearly went and bought a choc bar at beginning of the week, coz I felt poorly and thought I could use that as an excuse lol! But I thought about it, and realised I didn't even want chocolate! (I don't expect that lack of cravings will last though, lol!)

Hmmm, weight training. Yeah I know I really should. When I go to the gym I do about 20 mins of the various machines, but I haven't been going to the gym recently coz I have no money lol!

So as you can see I've been walking/jogging or doing dvds (some of which involve a BIT of weights but not much).

I do actually have some weights, not dumbells, but like soft things that you put round wrist or ankle. They are not very heavy though! Only about 1kg each (I'm guessing). So they're not much good.

But there's another thing, I am VERY weak, I mean, seriously. Especially in upper body. And in September I'm going travelling around the world for a year, and I have to carry all my worldly possessions on my back for all that time! So I NEED to do weight training not only to tone up but also to make me as strong as possible for September!

Unfortunately I have absolutely no idea where to start lol!

I guess I could get the gym instructor to show me how to use all the weight machines, then go to the gym just for weights, and keep at the cardio I've been doing!

I don't know. I'll think about it. :D

You know you can grab household items that weigh about 2-3 pounds each and do lifts with those at home. Or check out some garage sales for some good free weights, I'm going to use mine here today, as I live so far out of town it's hard for me to drive to the gym on the weekends. I think asking the trainer is an excellent idea. I'm not really good at advising what weight lifting to do, as I'm just learning all about those myself, but I know they are helping me big time!!At first I was afraid Iwould bulk up, because I'm already pretty muscular, but Tom here told me that's just rubbish and gave me a few pointers. This forum is amazing and so many people with different ideas to try, you have to love it!! Well, keep me posted, I'll be anxious to find out what you decide to do!! I think your on the right track. So keep going!

Thanks d :)

You'know, several times when I've been checking my diary today I've looked at that post again and almost got goosebumps thinking-you know what, I actually CAN do this!!!!!! Lol, thank you all for so much support, as always!

I have made a choice. I choose NOT to fail. I choose to be healthy. Forever.

yOU ARE AWSOME AT YOUR EXCERCISING AND YOUR WEIGHTLOSS IS GREAT ALSO! yOU CAN DO THIS JUST DONT GET DISCOURAGED!

So, I'm gonna post today's proper stuff now, even though its a bit early, as I have been MASSIVELY distracted by The Internet today and after dinner I will unplug the internet cable again and get another couple of hours work done with no temptation.

So I did Week 1 session 2 of couch to 5k today! Considering this is the first week, I'm not finding it easy! But that's the point, right?!

And this sounds odd, but it felt bad in a good way! I mean, I was VERY out of breath (that's my main prob with all exercise actually) and muscles achey and stuff, but at one point when I was doing one of the running intervals, I actually felt like a runner! Like I didn't look silly and out of place! And I felt so happy and almost powerful! That sounds so silly I'm sure, but I can't think of any other way to explain it. I'm looking forward to the day when I can get that feeling without the terrible out-of-breathness!

When I got back from my run (about 8am) I had a shower then went back to bed for a while! Lots of fun with the bf, can I count sex as exercise for the day too?! ;) :p

Eventually got up again and have been trying to revise, but fairly unsuccessfully, all day! It's OK, I still have plenty of time and overall I am on track :) I am really aiming for the top grades this year! Which means I can't afford another day like today *sigh*.

I just keep telling myself, this time in only 16 days it will all be over! Bring on the summer!!!!

Lunch

Beans on toast 297
Veggie soup 110
Diet coke 2

Snack

Tea 7
Rocky bar 102

Dinner

Wholewheat pasta with grilled fish and veg 360

Supper

Banana 100
Horlicks 186

Total intake = 1481 cals

Exercise

Week 1 session 2 couch to 5k -140

Total cals burned = 2140

Calorie deficit = 1481 - 2140 = -659

Verdict

Food good, exercise good but I feel I should have burned more than 140cals!!

Now, this week I have had a total calorie deficit of (1085 + 666 + 788 + 1260 + 886 + 980 + 659) = 6324 which means in theory I have lost 1.8lbs. I've just got to wait til the morning to see!

:)

Kezzy, OH yeah you can include sex, you can burn some crazy calories. Ummm that's if it last longer that 3 minutes. LOL LOL Hey, they had this couple on Oprah a year ago or so, I don't often get the chance to watch, because I'm at work, but I was sick that day,well... she had this couple on there and they both lost over 50lbs using sex daily and eating better. I was totally amazed. But, hey my thought is, sometimes you CAN get to much of a good thing, WHY burn it out so soon. You know what I mean?? :) Well, your doing great and I think your on the right track. Keep going!!
Kim

Haha what a great diet, they should market that one! Come to think of it, I think I did see a sexercise book for sale in a bookshop not long ago... ;)

Hey Kez, your week looks like its been a bril one, hope you get the results you want on the scales in the morning

And once again, masses of good luck with the revision, it sucks big time, but the end is thankfully in site!

Around the world? That's great. I spent a lot of time in the UK when I studied after my senior year of high school, but the backpacking trip I wanted to take some summer in college never did happen. 16 days isn't all that long :)

The scale says there's been no change today despite my great week. Perhaps surprisingly, I don't actually feel particularly sad about this! I feel much more focussed on the fitness aspect than the number on the scale. That's never been the case before :p

I know if I keep it upa nd stay focussed and consistent I will see the results sooner or later.

Good attitude. The number on the scale is not the most important thing. Keep up with this plan to measure yourself every month and you'll definitely see progress, no matter what the scale says.

oh man theres nout worse than going to the effort of gettin up well early and being motivated to do something and then its off/cancelled/closed. silly bank holidays :p
i was up this morning very early so got cracking on the work. i keep waking up really early atm..duno if its cos i know ive got work to do or what?!
xx

A great example of why it's a good thing to have multiple goals, including fitness goals. They're just as important, if not more so.

AAAAARRRGGGGHHHHHH revision is SOOOOOO hard!!!!!!!!!!! I just don't think my brain is physically big enough to hold all this information, especially in such a short space of time

  :(  :( :(

And this is all bringing on stress cravings!!! 'Luckily' for me I don't even have enough money to go out and buy junk food.

Oh my life is sucking today!!!!!!

Off to unplug the internet cable again...
