kelly's diary

Ugh, its cold and windy and getting dark outside.

I'm off to vinyasa yoga. Calories at 1788 and its only 5:30. Hungrier than usual today for some reason. I'll have to eat some more but will keep it at a minimum.

My calories were 1918 for today so about 10 calories per pound.
300 cals burned on treadmill
Light to moderate upper body weight lifting.
Vinyasa yoga tonight.

Rest tomorrow. Conference.

Hi Kelly :)

Thanks for stopping by my journal and congratulating me. You are doing really well with your eating and exercise! You seem very determined. Keep it up!

1600 calories today, rounding it up by 50 to be sure.

walked to the gym and back
leg work out - can't remember what all

300 cals burned on treadmill, hr 150-160 bpm for 40 minutes

Went to a StoresOnLine conference.

p.s. Pulled three pairs of size smaller pants out of the cedar chest for inspiration like so many around here do. I will look at them while I"m lying in bed. I look forward to wearing them again.

That's a good one. I actually have been this heavy (or heavier) for so long, I don't have any clothes like that. I have plenty of worn out clothes at my current size (which are getting much looser), so I'll just ahave to think about replacements instead.

I'm trying to debate whether or not to go to the gym. Leg muscles have been working hard.

BUT THEN, I just took my measurements. I am losing belly fat.

Sept 22 October 9
Bust 44" to 42.5"
Smallest part of waist 41" to 38"

That's in three weeks of going to the gym and watching my food.

I'm going to go to the gym to at least do Something. Hopefully I'll make a good job of it today.

Hey--that's some solid inches you lost! :hurray:

I noticed that legs recover pretty quickly. If my legs are sore from anaerobic activity, I'll do aerobic, and vice versa--I take days off when I truly need them. Your Yoga will help with the knees and hips and stuff. I hope you have a great workout!

That's great! Nothing like built in motivation is there?

I''m taking today off so that tomorrow I'll be well rested and will have a better workout. Looking down, I can definitely see that my upper stomach is flatter.

Nice! :hurray: I had a difficult Yoga class the other night--I joined the Ashtanga Institute because I wanted to progress from beginner to intermediate. I'm learning to do unassisted headstands because I never could do em--last night we did one-armed half-back-bends!

Hey Kelly Im still here! Life just kinda gets in the way some times. :D

In re: to your weight staying the same, women's weight fluctuates a lot, I vaguely remember it has something to do with hormones, and that you can go up to a month thinking nothing is going on where actually there is a lot. If you are getting a deficit, you are losing fat :)

Okay people, now we're cooking with fire. Just had a leg and cardio session with a trainer at the gym. My legs are like rubber.

Leg press 3 x 12 @110
Hack squats 3 x 10 at nothing
Ball squats 3 x 10 @ 15
Lunges holding medicine ball up high, 3 difficult sets
Superset leg curls and leg extensions, I forget the weights

Then 25 minutes on the stationary bike and he showed me how to do intervals and fat burning, a minute on high and then a couple minutes to recover and then high again.

This guy works weekends and he loves to help so I"m going to take advantage. Tomorrow arms and upper body.

Hey Kelly... just popping in to say. Good for you and all of your hard work in the gym. I was seeing a trainer for about 3 months, but its just not in the budget right now. I am trying to get myself back into being focused about exercise but i didn't realize how hard it would be to do so. I think i need to just DO it!!..lol

My legs and butt are so stiff it hurts to sit down and then to stand up but I am on my way. I worked really hard with the trainer who gave me his time today at the gym, he worked my legs really hard yesterday. Today we did an upper body routine:

Start: Rowing machine for 20 minutes, then

Back: pulldowns 3 x 12 @ 6
plow 3 x 12 @ 6

Chest: Chest press 3 x 12 @ 7 or vary weight
D.B. Incline Press 3 x 12-15 @ 10lbs

Shoulders: D.B. Military Press 3 x 10 @ 10lbs
Lateral Raises 3 x 10 @ 5lbs
Front Raises 3 x 10 @ 5lbs
Arms: Barbell Bicep Curls 3 x 10 @ 25 lbs (finished with forced reps)
Tricep pushdowns 3 x 12 @ 7

Easy cardio for 20 minutes. My legs had no push left in them.

Also calculated my zones for heart rate, 110-128 bpm for zone 2 fat loss and 128-146 bpm for zone 3 aerobic conditioning and fat loss.

Day off tomorrow then next day cardio only. Hopefully my legs will be recovered by then.

I am proud of this new accomplishment. I hope it puts me in a new category . Hope I have the guts to do my lunge routine in the gym (walking lunges while holding a medicine ball overhead). I'm nervous about how I will look.

I am not so hung up on the scale as I used to be. Concentrating on working hard and resting up and getting better at the exercises. This is my third week in the gym.

Sounds like a great routine all the way around. You're working everything in a nicely rounded fashion. Don't be upset though if you don't see th escale move much over the next couple of weeks. As soon as you start adding lean muscle, you're burning fat, but picking up tissue that is more dense. The plus to it all is the fact that it is all active tissue that burns fat even while you're sitting and relaxing as opposed to fat stores that, well, store fat...
