Katie's Diary

holy crap... i worked hard tonight... part of it was procrastinating on these stupid papers I have due next week - so I went and worked out for an hour and a half instead =)

tomorrows plan:

breakfast: cereal, skim, juice
snack: raisins
lunch: sushi
snack: triscuts
dinner: mushroom soup, salad, roll
exercise: 30 min walk in the morning - I need a day off otherwise

I also signed up to do a 5k walk/run for saturday morning... i'm totally pumped =) it was completely a last minute decision...

alright girls (and guys)

as you can see by my ticker, I lost 1.5 lbs in the past two weeks... not too bad, but also not what I was hoping for. But I do think that the last few pounds are probably going to be the hardest for me. I don't want to go too hard core and lose it, and then try to adjust to a normal diet (maintenence diet) and gain back a bunch of weight, so I think if it comes off slowly, it's okay

breakfast:
special k w/ skim (160)
orange juice (60)

snack:
raisins (130)

lunch:
chili (250)
turkey on rye (200)
cornbread (50)

snack:
triscuts (160)

dinner:
umm... so i guess today was a day off of sorts...
yet another dinner of tortilla chips, grapes, veggies, and other munchies... these ones not quite so healthy... tomorrow is a new day!!

total cals: ?
h2o: 48 oz
exercise: -

bleh - i'm not happy about lunch... we had a huge shift to cold weather today, and so the sushi went out the window b/c it's a bit of a walk, and its cold food... so i ate in the cafeteria, and got the chili and a sandwich- but none of it tasted that great and it felt like way too many calories...

Amomono -- You are so close to your goal!!! Congrats. As for the last few pounds..they always say those are the hardest to loose and I think it's very smart to take it slow especially since you will be changing your diet once you reach it. Anyway, you are such an inspiration!

Love the meaning of your name. I have a friend who loves monkies...in fact she has this great shirt that states exactly that...wish I could remember where she got it...

awesome doing the 5K run!
Dont work yourself too hard! WE NEED YOU!
and youre right, doing it the right way takes longer, but you'll get there, and you'll feel great, and you'll manage it!

hehehe.. thanks for the support everyone! It actually wasn't as strenuous as I thought - it was cold, and I ended up walking with a group of people I knew, and it was a 5 mile, not 5k... hehehe... but it was still really great - I did it in around 1:40. We walked through downtown Nashville, which is really hilly, so I got a great workout, my buns are going to KILL tomorrow!!!

I am hoping to start running in some of these races however - all of the people out there are so amazing, and it's for good causes, and so why not?!

off to work on papers... bleh - I have two due on Tuesday and i'm not looking forward to them!!!

Good luck w/ homework! I have 2 exams Tuesday ... yuck
Thats awesome - yeah hills are great for the bum!! I live in the hilliest area in MI and ... wow! do my legs feel it after a walk! haha* good burn though :0
Awesome job in the race! I would keep doing them if you enjoyed it!! Good for you!

alright... yesterday was kind of weird, I was under on cals, didn't exercise, didn't drink hardly any water... and i got up and weighed myself, and it said 137.5! But I think some of that is also from muscles atrophying... b/c i haven't lifted since last Thursday - and I won't get out until tomorrow... man, I'm probably going to be SORE after that...

breakfast:
special k w/ skim (160)
orange juice (60) - I'm drinking Tropicana's light and Healthy OJ... it's pretty good, and almost half the calories!

snack:
raisins (130)

lunch:
meatloaf (225)
roasted new potatoes (150)
salad (50)

snack:
triscuts (120)
jelly beans (50)

dinner:
mushroom barley soup (150) - AHHHHH it's the never ending pot!!!
salt and vinegar chips (150)
wine (75) - i did a search on wine cals tonight - and most table reds, if you have the right portion is only 75 cals.. so i have been guessing too much usually...

snack:
coffee (will be lots - pulling an all nighter)
brownie with raspberries (150)

total cals: 1470 so far
h2o: 48 oz so far
exercise: - I can't get it in today... i have a paper to write before tomorrow am.. once it is done - i'm going to get some kind of exercise in EVERY morning... (or night)

Unfortunantly I know nothing about anything in the first century let alone Christian jewish stuff...Lol, but ask me anything about kids and Im your woman. Anyway hope you got your paper done ok. Your food looks good by the way, you always have such a good variety of things in your diet. Your calories are a little low but I got enough for both of us yesterday. Keep up the good work Katie.

Hey girl, you've lost ALOT of weight, so you know what your doing...but you'r cal's are awfully low...maybe thats why your having trouble with these last few pds??

yeah, yesterday was a bit low... i was saving room for study snacks later at night.. but was so tired that I ended up just going to bed... I usually aim for around 1400 cals...

which I DEFINATELY got in at the cafeteria today!!!

How long have you been at the weight you are now?...Maybe you need to do that.." eat more" to trick your body.....

i've been losing the pounds slowly... two months ago I was 147... so they have been coming off... it has just been slow - and I think that's good b/c i have increased my calories a bit so that I can get to the point where I am maintaining weight. I also started lifting weights two weeks ago, and I have heard that often when you start lifting your weight actually goes up b/c of the increased muscle mass... so i'm just plugging away slowly =)

Hi Katie:

I just wanted you to know that you are doing an outstanding job with your weight loss diary. You have put everything out there with nothing left unturned. I admire your strenth to pursurver. You are truly an inspiration to those of us that are still trying to get to our goal weight. I am actually 30 pounds from my goal weight. I workout 6-7 days per week, with sometimes a day rest, but most times sticking with the 6-7 day schedule.

My eating is intact, but at the age of 47 it is finding the right combinations of workouts to keep you motivated to want to do it. The treadmill is something that I love, but I love working out to my videos.

Keep up the wonderful work and continue to keep us inspired!

Beverly ;)

Great job Katie!! Of course muscle weighs more than fat so you are probably toning up very well but the scale just doesn't show it. Look in the mirror and let that be your scale. I'm sure your arms and legs and tummy show off the fact that you have been working out. Keep it up.
Shelley
