Banjo is 8 months old and very attatched... he likes to be near someone all the time!! He thinks he's a lap dog also. He tries to sit on my lap ALL the time then when he realizes he doesn't fit he sits there with the saddest look on his face and lets out a litte cry. It makes me so sad!! So, I end up sitting on the floor with him.... what a baby!! LOL

Thank goodness Shadows' not going to get much bigger...maybe 20 pounds if I really fatten him up--I don't think I could handle the drool that big dogs produce, it freaks me out! :)

I'm telling ya...nothing worse than a dog droolin' and slobberin' all over you. *bleck*

Exercises were fine...I did 5.7 miles on the bike which brings my grand total for the week up to an ever 25 miles. Go me!!!

Oh, I also lost one of those pesky pounds that came back so I'm down to 196 again...hopefully I can start dropping more weight and more quickly. I really want people to say 'wow you've lost weight!' when I go back to school on the 5th.

Rant number 1:

I'll never understand why 'skinny' people always expect the 'fat' person to eat crappy food. Why is that? Why do they actually ask us why we're not eating the freakin' donuts and danishes? It's as if we're not living up to their expectation. "Hey, she's fat--she'll eat anything if it's got chocolate on it!" WTF? And on top of that, to have friends and family try to coerce you to eat junk food? Hello???? Do you see a problem with this friends---I'm saying no and you're still pushing me to eat it? That's messed up.

Next rant:

We went to the gym yesterday and there was this guy on the treadmill and as John and I were going up the stairs to get to the treadmill the freakazoid just stared at John...blatant staring and I could just hear his thoughts 'Look at that fat s.o.b.' I was instantly pissed off and stopped dead in my tracks and stared him down until he blushed and looked away. John of course was oblivious---he's always oblivious, he never notices the a$$holes staring and gawking at him, he never hears the people whispering or making fun of him....it freakin' breaks my heart and embarrasses me all at the same time.

Ranting over.

School starts in a couple weeks and for those of you who don't know (which I think is everyone) I'm a music teacher. I'm actually excited about this year...last year was probably the best year I've had as a teacher, not that I was great or anything but I definately enjoyed it. I put on the show Annie, major, major work involved with that but it was a lot of fun and in my school district the kids don't really have any money, it's very urban and the school is split 50% black and 50% hispanic, so the expectation levels of the students is really low--something I completely disagree with. I set my standards high, really high and watch them climb their way to the top. It's not easy, urban schools tend to have lots of discipline problems, luckily I didn't have too many last year, I guess my point is that I like my job. Even though when I took it, I took it out of desperation--now I expect to teach there for the rest of my career. Why am I saying this? I don't know. I have fears that once school starts I won't have the energy to go and workout...I won't have the hutzpah to say 'no' to all the goodies in the teachers room. I did however buy a microwave for my room (shhhh don't tell) so that I won't go out to eat so much and so that I don't have to wait in line for the microwave in the teachers room for 40 minutes. (yeah it was bad, and caused many a fight between some teachers--yes, once it was me.) I have great ideas for teaching the keyboards this year and I'm REALLY looking forward to putting on the show Cinderella--should be lots of fun...and hopefully not as much work as Annie cause more people will know how great the shows going to be and will want to be a part of it. With Annie it was only me (producer), the director and the music director...tough, really tough. Anyway...I want to stay committed (sp), I want to be a skinny minny. I'm ok with 175, 150 would be nice but for now I'll take 175...that's 30 pounds, a major feat--and hopefully I'll be able to accomplish it soon, real soon.

Thanks for listening to my rants and fears.

Rant away! Believe me, I do it all the time. If I didn't divide my ranting between 3 different message boards, you guys would never hear the end of it!:D
People who don't understand weight problems are idiots...especially the ones who don't TRY to understand. I'm sorry for your experience at the gym. I wouldn't go to one even if there was one here. I do it in my living room, with the curtains CLOSED!

Re:Rant number 1

HELL YES! Its so damned annoying i actually had words with some friends (some were skinny some were fat) about them nagging me to eat crap. I said i refused to deal with them degrading my hard efforts to loose weight by saying such things.

Re:Rant number 2
I got the same thing when i started. I was about 320lb at least and man the looks people gave me for the first month or two. Now ive lost about 50lb and the looks have turned from pity and scorn to respect. In fact to the point that people have come up to me and said how awesome it is, and others just talk to me. The gym instructers call me by name when i walk in and walk out, I go longer and harder on every machine than most of the regulars. Good things take time.

As for the teaching. Good on you! thats fantastic that you dont accept their low levels. Raise the bar up. Dont worry about food so much as make sure you are never around the junk food box without a full tummy. I got a microwave and coffee machine for my work office so i didnt have to go up to the kitchen that has the coke machine and junk food machine etc. I have a pile of cup-of-soup packets and noodles and a couple of small tins of tuna etc (basicly a small stock pile of 'good' foods).
Often im so busy in the morning with the gym and getting 4 kids to school i forget to make my lunch, so these things are my savior. And the one time i did forget my lunch and ran out i managed to just get some whole meals bread from a dairy on the way.

Anyway the moral of the story is, dont just set a high standerd for the students, do it for yourself as well. Do it for the hubby and make him do it for you! The fact that you realize the problem and have already started doing something about it is a major. look at all the overweight people who just havnt clicked that they are killing themselves.

Wahoo!!! Wahoo!!! Wahoo!!!

I'm down 2.5 pounds since Friday....finally my body let go of all that TOM weight!

Yippee!!! :D :D :D

Yeah! Congrats on your loss! you're working out hard, so your work will pay off! Its great about the job - there are few teachers who care so deeply and try to help kids come up, esp. in those inner city schools. Way to go! You will definitely make a lot of difference in those kids lives!

Awww....thank you!

John weighed himself today and although he wanted to be at 480 he was at 482 which was still down 4 pounds since the last time he weighed himself. I tried to reassure him that he has lost fat and turned it into muscle but I don't know if he believed me...at least he still lost some numbers on the scale. Pretty soon we won't have to go to GNC for him to weigh himself....ok in about 130 pounds but hopefully that will fall off of him soon.

Edit: I've been looking at my vitamin intake over the past few weeks and it wasn't great, I started taking a daily vitamin (my husband laughs because I'm taking those yummy flintstone vitamins--yes they are good for adults too) but I noticed that I didn't get nearly enough calcium every day. I was at about 25% and your supposed to have over 1000 as a RDA...so I got this stuff called Viactiv. It's a calcium supplement that freakin' tastes like delicious yummy chocolate. I guess if you haven't noticed I don't like just swallowing pills, it actually makes me gag so yeah I've found some great tasting and effective vitamins! I wanted to spread the word!

Off to the gym to do a bunch of extra exercises today because I treated myself to a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup (i'm so saving the other one for another day). I haven't had chocolate in a month---yummmmmmmy!!!! I totally felt guilty about it too...even though I budgeted for it in my calories and I'm still at 1214 calories for the day---John doesn't even know I bought it. I think it might be too much of a temptation for him. So yep, an extra mile or so on the bike and maybe 150 situps today instead of 130--maybe more. :)

yeah ive been the same with protein. Cant eat chicken and steak all day, so i have to have them, I just discovered low cal/carb protein bars which taste like chocolate bars and i get to eat them every single day!

Hooray for you for setting the bar high! I'm a theater "hobbiest" (too hard to make a living acting/directing) and I've directed kids in plays. I learned the first time to set the bar high...they'll rise to the occassion! I think people and parents don't expect nearly enough from kids these days. It seems we have to protect them from so many things, that sometime we tend to protect them from themselves...if you know what I mean!!

I would agree with Wishes...set the bar high for yourself! Look at what you've already accomplished: Fantastic!!:)

I agree. Parents coddle their kids with freakin' everything...give them what ever they want just to shut them up...it's ridiculous.

It's nice to see another theatre buff on the forum....I might pick your brain for some ideas later in the year!

you should tell john for us that 4 pounds is still ALOT of pounds. And that he should be proud of himself regardless. :)

I take a daily multivitamin and calcium tablets every day too Kaitie. I'm glad to see you're doing the same. It's especially important for us girls to get the extra calcium.

Have fun at the gym! :)
