Kaitie's Open Diary

Hang in there Kaitie! I got stuck at one weight for three months!! I inadvertantly did some calorie cycling, and started walking 10,000 steps a day, and voila!!! Another three pounds off. Wear a pedometer while you are teaching. You might be suprised how much you walk!

Hi, Kaitie,

Believe me, not EVERYONE on this forum looses weight every week. I loose only 1 lb per month(if that). There are a lot of people for whom it takes awhile to loose. And that's ok. You will need to accept that it is a long process. I know it can be very frustrating, but the most important thing is to stick to it! Counting calories helped me a lot. If you stay around 1500 with all the exercise you do, things will go down.

Way to go on exercising at 10! It is better late then never. It just shows your determination, so give yourself a pat on the back.

I just have to say one thing - taking your time to loose is ok, because in the long process you condition your body to exercise and to eat right and you form new habits. After you loose all the weight, it will be easier for you to keep it off, because you will continue practicing those good habits. For people who loose weight fast it may be a bit harder to stick to the changes they made in their lives because they have not done it long enough.

So keep your chin up, and keep going!

Thanks everyone!

I've got a fitday account and my calories and exercise are precisely right for me to lose at least 2 pounds a week. My highest calorie intake is 1400, but most days it's around 1270-1320. I'm just so impatient I guess.

I'm down to 192. Only one pound but I guess it's better than nothing.

WTG for losing!! I don't how I would handle it if I get stuck at a certain weight for a long period of time I can see maybe a week or 2 but anything more than that I would freak!Good luck to ya and your doing gr8 Tammy:)

If only it was that easy all the time!!!

Ok, I exercised a bunch today!

3 miles on the bike
150 sit-ups
150 torso twists
30 arms over the head things
40 chest presses
20 bicep curls

I was going to do more on the bike but my legs were just pooped. They felt like jelly when I finally stopped. :)

Met the new music teacher I'll be working with this year...she seems nice, I get the feeling that she's had a rough couple of years and I hope that she can find the same happiness that I've found at the school. Also, a bunch of the negative teachers left the district so hopefully the school will go back to being a happy go lucky place. I'm a little nervous though, we still don't have a science teacher, 2 third grade teachers, 1 fourth grade teacher, and 2 teachers aides. I hope that somebody gets hired pretty darn quick! Which in turns sucks because ya'll know that someone who wasn't hired a long time ago is exactly the best teacher around--but maybe I'm wrong. Ya know, I really shouldn't say that---I was hired in August last year, I was of course $hittin' a brick that I didn't have a job so maybe they just need a lucky break.

*crosses fingers for a great school year with LOTS of weight loss*

Congrats on the loss! You're doing great, I KNEW all that hard exercise will pay off for you!

Good luck on your new school year. I am sure you can loose all the weight you want will all this exercise and forum to support you!

Weehee!!!! Yippee!!! Zipity-do-dah! I've lost a total of 3 pounds this week.

Next week *crosses fingers* I'll be in the 180's.

John's annoyed because I keep weighing myself but I just had too...I have to know if there's progress or stagnation.

good luck Katie at the school, and you are doing awsome on the sit ups, wash board abs here you come.:D Keep it up dude!!!

3 lbs! I'm so happy for you! And it's just the motivation I need to leave this computer desk and take the kids for another walk!:)

3 lbs is awesome!!! Congratulations!

So I heard you mention you eat under 1400 calories... How often do you exercise? How long to do work out for? Do you do all your workouts at the gym or also exercise at home? I want to know - I want to start dropping those lbs too!!!!

I do everything at the gym.

I ride a stationary bike; I use a sit-up machine, you sit in it and put your hands on handles above your head and then you push your abs and arms forward to make a sit-up; I just started using a rotary ab machine but I've seen people just hold weights in their hands and turn their waist from side to side; I also do some chest presses where I sit in a chair and push two handles out until my arms are extended in front of me; I do some thing were I sit in a chair and some handles are about parallel with my shoulders and I push them above my head (works the arms) and yesterday I tried the curl machine. I stay at the gym for about an hour (John's training session is an hour) on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and about a half an hour on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

I like going to the gym because it feels like theirs a ton on energy in the room and I know its weird but I really love the smell. I really hope that I can keep this up. 1 more pound and I am at the half-way point...weehee!!

I am rooting for that one pound!! It is shedding as I type! You are such a determined lady, it is so nice to see such motivation.

Thanks!!! I think I'm done with weight-loss for this week. I'd actually be a little worried if tomorrow the scale says 189---happy but a little skeptical.

I have a question: Ok, so for the last two weeks (not this week) I had been eating a "Lean Cuisine" meal for lunch--and low and behold not an ounce of weight loss. But this week I haven't touched them and I've lost three pounds. Now in all fairness, I did have a lot of chips mixed in with my 1400 calories the last two weeks and I haven't had any this week...so what do you think was preventing the weight loss--the chips or the microwave lunches?

I have no idea about the microwave lunches... good question though. I just noticed your sit-up ticker... YOU ARE AWESOME!!!
