OK - So I was guided here by a friend (Thanks Cinderelly!) :)

Have no idea where to begin so I'll follow the format suggested! (Why am I having a hard time with this when I am usually such a blabbermouth!) :cool:

So here we go...

-- How much weight do you want to lose? :eek:

A whole bunch. Not sure why I am having such a hard time "declaring" that number... I mean really - its a number... but its high... I guess I need to set "mini-goals"... so for right now my goal would be 20 pounds... It would lower my weight to a certain benchmark. (Does that make any sense at all?)

-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight?

Hmmm... The last time I lost weight I lost 20 pounds in 2 months. (10 in the first week...) So I wonder if I could do it again?

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)?

Well - Im going to start simple. Work on eating healthy - and regularly. More fruits and veggies, less takeout...more water...

-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?

A kick in the pants helps me out every so often! HAHA... I guess gentle reminders - questions from friends.. it helps me stay on track.

-- How realistic is your goal?

I did it before - so I guess its realistic...

-- When will you start?

I started today... And Im pretty happy with how it went... Now to keep it up tomorrow! :D

I guess should also include some basics... I am a woman... 32... Mom to two sweet boys. (Who keep me very busy.) I am recently (or rather nearly) divorced after 8 years of marriage. I actually lost weight after separation... but gained it back. :(

She certainly is! Ive known her for awhile now from another forum...

She talked so highly of this place I had to give it a go!

SHELLEY - SHELLEY - SHELLEY!!! YES - girl - it is so good to have you here !!!

I think 20 lbs in 2 months is a bit unrealistic - however girl - you would know...as you said you have done it before...but also you ahve gained it back...I just dont want you to set yourself up for dissappointment or failure...

You are so going into my subscrition list...I will be in here everyday or a cpl times a day...

Glad you found it here. Can't wait to see you lose those 20 lbs & hopefully I can do so along with you.

Sorry to hear about the divorce, but sometimes all you need to become who you should be is a change. Here's hoping that this is a change in the positive direction for you.

Thanks everyone... as Cerella knows - I am NOT upset about the divorce. I was... I moved past it... Life really is good now. A year and a half ago I was a wreck. Im much happier (and eat better) as a single mom than I did as a married one.

You guys are awesome. I woke up this morning and thought hmmm.. Timmies Hot Chocolate and Breakfast bagel sounds awfully good.

But then jumped on here - and the desire is gone! POOF!

You guys are great!
 
Oh as for the 20 lbs... cerella I hadn't even realized that I had gained it back so fast.... Maybe I will change my goal to 20 in 3 months?

welcome aboard this place :D you're in for some ride i gotta tell you that...well at least i'm on one, and its the best ride i was ever on.
i totally understand the fear of saying the numbers...it took me probably 5 days just to say hi on this site...when i wrote my weight i almost started crying, suddenly it became so freakin real...i had to stop being in this blur i created for myself. but i felt liberated. once you decide to do it (no pressure...you will or not in your own time and pace) i'm sure you'll start feeling liberated by it too. your weight doesn't define who you are. in my opinion weight is a wall we built around us...lets break the wall!

anyway, welcome :D any friend of cerella is a friend of mine hehe

any friend of cerella's is a friend of ours -- welcome ot the forum... depending on your starting weight - 3 months might be a more reasonable time frame for your 20lbs - heck you could always blow past it and that'd be a bonus.. :)

I agree with Lena. Excess weight is like a wall. It's unpleasant to be inside it, and there's so much good stuff on the outside!!

This forum is a great place for helping us demolish those walls.

Thats it - new goal 20 lbs 3 months.

Thats the kind of realisic advice I need.

Now how much do you think would be realistic by July 1st???

Who knows - maybe I will even get up the courage to post a "real" number in the future...

Maybe you will all find out with my 20 lb minigoals...(*Like 5+ of them! BLECH.)
 
realistic weight loss is generally 1 percent of your body weight a week - BUT - every body is different - and lose weight at different rates - at the beginning people drop a little bit more because its water weight you're losing but then it steadies out... but 1 percent is usually a pretty realisitic expectation

(that's 1 percent in pounds by the way not kilograms)

Don't ever be embarassed by your weight here - no judgements at all - and no pointing and laughing at all.. it's just a number and you're working on changing that -and sometimes you might just want it as a reminder of whre you came from.. and where you won't ever go back to.

But you see you didnt take it off in a healthy way or whatever so it crept back - I think the transitiona nd change of everything just had it melt off you as you returned to your busy life with the boys...

My weight loss has been slow and steady but lately it hasnt been all that healthy as I have been swamped with work and such and hardly eating or then over eating, then when I do eat I gian lol...

I am so HAPPY to have you hear Shelley - we will be able to communicate more and better and actaully feel in touch...as I mentioned before Ive been swamped with work for 7 weeks - my boss took off time to have a tummy tuck and ive been running the show and doing the work load of two with casual help...plus I never get online when youa re on it - and when I am on it is never for long - Taneesha is almost 3 and a handful !!!

Oh and thank you for changing it to 3 months I wanna see you do this the healthy right way and I want to see you succeed!!! Who knows maybe you will suprize me :D:D:D

Hey you :):):) Your a great woman...I made a post in my diary that you are a friend of mine and it would be nice to welcome you , help you and support you along the way - but you are an amazing sweet woman...and I wanted to share my friends with you - lol

as for posting your weight I was embarrassed at first as well and I still find it a bit oddd how open I talk abt how much I weight - you will get there in time - when you are rady - really it is just a number and Shelley dont let that number define who you are...

Also by posting your weight gettin real about you can also see who is around in the same weight area as you for maybe additional supprt/he;p - but it all comes down to your comfort level - as Mal said their are no judgements here...we are avs and encouraging words !!!
