Justina: Back to square one - very excited & determined to do this right

Thanks Brawny, Mystic & Mands :)

I have sinned! I have had a totally bad weekend!
We didn't eat out once, we didn't eat out twice, we ate out 3 times this week!!!
First one - i did well @ the Japanese place...
then things got out of hand....Friday night - after a totally draining week - we went out to a sports bar - the only sports thing about is the screens all around showing sport. & everyone stuffing their faces with fries and meat...including me.:angelsad2:
I had breaded chicken and fries - and a frozen margarita cocktail (i gave one piece of chicken to my husband & I didn't finish the cocktail - it was yucky!)
& Today we went to a burger/bbq place....oh boy...:ack2:
I pigged out...quite literally! i had a glass of wine, bbq pork & fries....ugh! i still can't think of food. & we ate like 6 hrs ago. I couldnt even eat the bread and the corn muffin that came with the meal..the portion was massive...anyway I went to the gym - I did like 40 mins of elliptical...not more, as my husband was anxious to go home - he has tons of work to do.
I need to discipline myself somehow...the funny thing is - we usually don't eat out this much - like 1-2 a month tops...
I think we needed to let out hair down :chillpill: after a terrible week...
I must say though I didn't eat much for dinner tonight- only some anchovies :D I hope I manage to damage control a bit...

& the really funny thing is - if I was a "normal" person - the food this weekend wouldn't affect my weight at all!!! I just had less than A "normal" restaurant portion, with small dinner & a decent gym workout....C'est la vie..

Once in a while girl you gotta let your hair down and just relaxxx. My weekend didn't go so smooth either, we ate out once but even so that once made me feel bad until my husband said "with control comes balance", we have to learn and understand that at some point YES we can eat out and just relax and not feel as if we are sitting on needles constantly. Okay so you had fries and chops and some other stuff, this week is a new week and prove to yourself that it doesn't mean it's the end of you, you just continue normally as if it didn't even happen and bounce right back up, that's at least what my goal is. We can't just restrict ourselves from life, we just gotta manage it better. Me I don't believe in eating grass all my life, I believe in a balance of life. Heck I am allowed to have ice cream but I made a rule. Once a month I will allow myself something I would never otherwise touch and this keeps me going and makes me feel hmm...human. Besides switching it up giving your body a sense of "shock" is good. You just completely surpised your system with the food you ate, you did something different and now you are returning to your healthy eating again so you are challening it and making it work trying to figure our what you just did lol and watch the lbs drop. And HORRAY! for the 30mins, at least you worked out. Me on the other hand not so much.

I agree with Iluvme. Don't beat yourself up over it. It's done and it's not an issue as long as you get back on track. You can estimate the calories and try to make them up if you feel you need to. In the long run, these deviations may help keep you on track and they won't hurt your weight loss unless you allow your slip ups to discourage you. Good job getting to the gym.

Remember how eating heavy foods made you feel and then think about how you feel after eating well.

It's terrible, but I eat out almost every day (lunch). I choose my restaurants, foods, and portions carefully or I eat a big meal and don't get dinner. Or I go over and I make up the calories in one or more days. There are 3 or 4 places in town that I can go eat on my diet and so I go to those often.

Agreed with the other responses, Justina. First, I think all of us will need a letdown day every so often. Secondly, what's done is done. Move on and follow your regimen from here on out. Remember my Super Bowl mess? Well, I had six straight days of losing weight AFTER I got back on track on Monday. It'll all work out.

The important thing is to get straight back on track.

If you let it worry you too much - you risk beating yourself up, feeling bad and maybe resorting to some comfort eating because it doesnt really matter because you have spoilt your diet... I've done that in the past and it is silly...

Forgive yourself - right here - right now.

I actually tend to eat out quite rarely - but when I do I eat what I am given or what everyone else is eating if it is a restaurant... Sometimes our social life is such that they group together like has happened to you... I try to make fairly sensible choices (but that is easier in theory than in practice) - if everyone else is having some naan bread I often have some too... everyone gets tempted at times... I do not want my friends to define me as the person that is always on a diet... Such people can easily be considered as awkward guests...

We are not on a short time diet... This has to be a way of life for ever into the future... We cannot stop our social life until the end of our diet... If you want to consider it as being on a diet - it is never going to end...

It is not what we do on the odd 15 days (or even 25 days) of the year when we splurge that counts... It is what we do on the other 350 (or 340) days that has the big impact on our weight... Make today as good as you can with the time remaining - and make tomorrow really good.

Don't let a minor hiccup sabotage your project. We can all make our weight loss dreams come true.

Hey sweetie, thanks!:coolgleamA: I really loved what you wrote, especially this segment above. "i believe in a balance of life" I couldn't agree more...
I wanna live by that rule...!

Quercus I used to do that - eat out a lot! It's a hard way to diet - unless the restaurant is a diet-friendly one :D
mY WORST enemy was ready made processed food in the past (5 min in the microwave) - so glad I gave those up!
Impressive, that you eat out and still lose weight. Kudos to you!

Don Keykong Thanks. For me it was a letdown weekend lol...oh well i defo get back on track - i totally remember your SB weekend...well done you for getting back on the wagon!

Omega I am back - kind of...I haven't given up! :) I don't want to let myself down (or my teammates - Go GOLD!)
Social life can defo has an impact on our eating habits from time to time! I agree with you on the "awkward guest" remark. For me it really depends on how I go out with...
Thanks for stopping by!

S: 2 ezekiel bread toast & cheese
D: Flax-meal choco cake :( & veggie juice (fresh)

I had a really bad weekend too. I had a donut, several chocolate bars, pepsi, hotdog, fries (x's 2), and poutine with pulled pork (x's 2).Oh well, as long as we get back on track we'll be ok (though cravings are always worse after a bad day or 2!)

..but sounds like you are sorry for your wayward ways... so all ok !

..I agree with lots above- do need to "let loose" here & there...it is a journey after-all.
..and U do need a bit of FUn along the way.... invites out do happen... life happens...
- ...healthy dining-out can happen though too - last week I ordered talapia steamed in parchment with grilled vegs- it was amazing- full of flavour/moist... and was so happy I hadn't had the deep-fried battered shrimp /fries the rest were having... healthy can be done..but a little indulge-if it's what U really want - is OK TOO !

cheers gal,

Um giving up chocolate um not sure if I could do that for 40 days! Apart from having to fight over the car parks I love when the gym is busy. It's so motivational when everyone is working out hard! A bit of eye candy is always welcome too!

Oh Maryann - you are sooo good with eating out!! That tilapia sounds yummy! I love tilapia! I gonna behave now :)

Yeah - eye candy is always good - there are quite a few here :D
Today it's home-exercise day for me...so no fighting over parking spaces

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MARDI GRAS TODAY - I used to love pancake days back in the UK!!! I prefer the taste of pancakes in Europe... yum yum... we'll probably have some American ones though. My sister-in-law got us some pancake mix for Christmas - it looks good - we'll use that.
& from tomorrow bye bye chocolate - until Easter!
I will have a very busy day today - it's gonna be hard to find time to exercise...so i just gonna have to make some!!! :D

Have a good day everyone!!

Good luck getting that exercise in! No chocolate til Easter?! You are stronger than I am, that's for sure...lol! Good luck! :)

Well done for doing the treadmill for 65 minutes. You have paid your penance and earned some challenge points.

I would have been surprised too to find the gym full at 7am... I consider my 9:30am Saturday salsa lesson to be an early start...

Giving up chocolate until Easter... :) I try to stay off the stuff anyway - but I am only human (if I wasnt full of human frailty I would still be in my zone)... I'll tell you if I lapse between now and Easter... We can deny ourselves together...

Yeah - eye candy is always good
I hate it at the gym when all the women there are leering and constantly trying to objectify me. I'm just trying to get my workout in. I can't help it if I'm just that sexy. You're all so shameless.

Anyway, enough about my delusions. Good luck on finding the time to work out and hope you can stay away from some of those Mardi Gras temptations.

Mmmm. Mardi Gras. Yep, that might warrant a minor sin or three on my part. Thankfully, in Oregon we only have a few seasonal celebrations that might be hard to escape. GREAT job getting the exercise. Be as good as you can. :)

You I did this last year - I think i can pull this off again! :) (Last year I was not exactly on a diet though!)

I pay for my caloric sins with extra time on the bike. No big deal just jump back on the horse that threw ya!

Haha - I totally agree with you - I usually do the same - been lame lately...

Thanks Omega! Yeah, gym - i guess people want to get their exercise down before work, in their lunch break or after work...the busiest times of the day... I just usually never made it to the gym that early - but now that my husband gets up super early - I wake up too when his alarm goes off...
Let's do the choco- ban together :) so far so good!

U go gal!! U can do it! Think about it like this a moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips;)

Thanks Mands!! Lol..yeah...exactly like that.

LOL....funny as always - Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder!!!

Oh yeah...sins indeed...I was not as good as i could have been...i have to get better. Thanks Don Keykong!

Hope you found time to exercise!! No chocolate till easter! That would be tough!

Thanks Mystic - it is tough but doable!!

Hey you all! Thanks so much for all the support!!! You rock

I have had a not so good week diet-wise - not too bad either. It was a mix.
I am back on my best behavior!
We ate out one more time.(4th in 8 days).... :blush5:
But now we totally blew the food budget - especially doing the weekly grocery shopping today..
So i am pretty certain no more eating out for about a month!!!
No chocolate for about 40 days!
& loads of juicing this weekend (bought juicing material! Yay!) - I had some today too! It was yummy! I could almost hear my body doing a happy dance for all the nutrition I drank!
Oh and I am about to go to the gym!!!!!

I feel inspired again!! & need to be! I am happy to announce that I am back on the wagon!!
(unfortunately this will not reflect on weigh in day tomorrow - I am not looking forward to this :banghead:... boohooo!)

Great attitude, Justina! As I tell my kids in dealing with the pressures of schoolwork, it's never about perfection, it's just about doing the best that you can from one moment to the next.

Forgive yourself for your indiscretions, learn from them, then move on.

Hey, welcome back! Don't stay away when you stray. Even if you just drop in and say "I ate terribly today" still drop by and say it! A break away from here is a chance for you not to come back and you can't let that happen. You are a presence here and this site can help you and you help others. I'm happy you're back!
