Just Curious

Do I have the world's highest metabolism? I am currently cutting although I'm almost at my bodyfat goal so I'm cutting slowly at this point (losing less than .5 lbs per week) hoping to keep eating the same number of calories and have it level out and be my maintenance level within a couple pounds.

I'm 6'1 and my "official" weight right now is 190.4 (first thing in the AM after using the restroom, empty stomach, unclothed) so dressed, with food in my system, fully hydrated etc. I'm about 197-198

I'm eating 4000 calories. Usually when I hear of someone eating this much they are heavier than me and bulking up.

It really doesn't concern me or anything, I just wondered if anyone else roughly my size ate this many calories (especially not bulking)

4000 calories is pretty high. Have you got a schedule/journal where you note your calorie intake and what you are burning through exercising/working out? Do you have any pinchable fat? Are you a weights-only type or do you do cardio/HIIT?

I use fitday and I'm completely thorough. I weigh and measure everything I eat....to the point I drive my wife nuts. If it is a food where a lot of items are mixed in, I'll spend 20 minutes working out what percentage each food makes up of the dish. I lift 4 days per week and do 3 60 minute sessions on my elliptical machine per week. I'm about 11% body fat

When all I did was lift and eat whatever I wanted (I literally ate as much as my stomach would hold) I weighed about 30 lbs more.

That explains why I had so much trouble bulking up when I was younger. I was the same height when I graduated High school and I weighed 155-160 in spite of literally force feeding myself to try to gain weight. I can remember eating until I would be in pain.

Thats alot of calories for a cut you are right. How is your progression going though. If 4000 cal works for you when your cutting then yes you must have a pretty quick metabolism.

I'm almost where I want to be. I want to be 10% and I'm about 11% My abs show a little and my arms and legs are getting very vascular and my whole body shows much more definition. I've lost about 30 lbs all together

It's not something I'm worried about, I just wondered if anyone else's metabolism was that high or if I'm the only freak:yelrotflmao:

Here's another weird one: When I went from my full on cutting to now I bumped my calories from 3700 to 4000 and immediately (within 4 days) gained 3 lbs, then it balanced out and I started losing like I said, .5 lb or less a week

How old are you? Before 30 I was similar. I could eat 4 times what a normal person ate or I could eat very little and my metabolism just adjusted to keep my weight within a pretty small range. Like you I ran 3-6 miles 3 times a week and weight trained and I also had a relatively active job that required me to walk a lot. After 30 I stopped running and started a job that was mostly sitting all day and started gaining weight fast. I had never weighed more than 180 before 30 and by 32 I weighed 242. I don't know if it was my age or the change in my activity level or both that caused the change. The only good news was at 242 I was a lot stronger (but also a lot fatter)!

I'm 32 and yes, I'm a freak.:jump1: My highest weight was 227 and that was eating large pizzas by myself, Wendy's, Chipotle etc.

That would be my intake for a WEEK...well, more like 4.5 days...but still. I'm feeling some hate here. You sure put the "hate" in "Phate" ;)

Reminds me of two popular 70's songs.....SuperFreak and BrickHouse.

LOL, I also wish i could eat that much daily. He has awesome genetics though, and he's like 6 foot something and weighs around 240, but he has a low body fat and is ripped..if you go on bodybuilding.com hes the teen of the week

hes going to compete in january and try to break the deadlift record world wide for his weight group, he claims and has a video of him deadlifting over 700 lbs

LOL, we go to Costco and buy 7 gallons at a time. Between me and my two toddlers we average a gallon a day

Damn, lots of milk, thats how i am with peanut butter though. A jar of natty pb only lasts a week tops for me.

We pretty much buy that in bulk too. I have about 6-8 tablespoons a day
