Just a little bit more to go ...

Steve mentioned on his board that he's taking a bit of a break - he's suffering from an "Internet allergy". I can sympathise - I've taken a few allergy breaks myself at times. :) I'm sure he'll be back soon.

Today was a freakishly annoying day for me. Between the people in my office, phone calls, clients, vendors, people trying to sell me things I don't want or need, bad drivers, and a hoard of other minor obstacles ... I'm so done.

All I want to do tonight is sit in front of the TV and tune out. If I could turn my brain off, I would. Instead I'm having some chicken, some rice, a glass of wine, and going to try to get to bed before midnight.

Tomorrow is going to be a very busy day - so a good night's sleep will be most welcome.

Enjoy your wine and have a good night's rest, Kara!

Hello Karacooks,

Just having a gander at your Food Blog, that I'd never noticed b4... and for someone whom is just learning to cook within these last few months here, I think I will really enjoy getting tips off of there!!

Woo Hoo Homemade Tobasco Sauce!, I've been freakin searching for the Mild Green Tabasco Sauce, and cannot find it yet. Maybe now I can make it, for fun!

I also Really Love Your Photos!! Are you self-taught? Or some schooling as well?

Take Care :seeya:

That's scary miz Kara, yesterday was crazy for me and a lot of people I talked to as well. Like the floodgates opened and we were all the busiest we have been in a month. And I thought I was just less tolerant of the idiot drivers yesterday. I am in AL so we are close enough to get hit by the same something in the air maybe?

Hope you got your wish and your night ended okay.

I tried those blueberry chops btw, and they weren't bad but they need work too. I either overspiced, the jam wasn't quite what I wanted, or I need fresh blueberries in a sauce. Not enough of that blueberry "pop" I was looking for. Did you try yours yet or do I gotta get out two sticks so I can start a fire under your bootay?

Finally, I sympathize with those of you mentioning lack of exercise motivation as I get lack of diet and (especially) lack of cooking motivation all the time.

I suffered from lack of cooking motivation all weekend. And then, I tore my entire kitchen apart and re-organized everything. Now I can't find anything. I pretty much survived all weekend off of take out. My son loved it.

Well, I should probably update my *own* journal, huh? :)

This weekend was a wash as far as getting anything done. I had plans - oh yes, I had great and far reaching plans. And that's as far as it got.

However, I did really well sticking to my food plan. Sunday is my "free" day and we had burgers and rings at Red Robin. (Mmmm.) Then saw District 9 - which I really really liked. It wasn't exactly what I expected, but I liked it better because of it.

Lots of napping, a trip to get eggs and veggies at the other farmer's market, and that's about it.

Today was frustrating at work, but more because of a certain coworker (and that's 'nuff said about that). I'm home, on the sofa, cat stretched out along my side and at least for now, I'm doing quite well!

Yum...I love Red Robin! What a great treat!

I also took a nice nap yesterday afternoon...it was raining and I curled up with my book, and next thing I knew, I had slept for over an hour...rare for me!
Hope you have a better day at work tomorrow, Kara...

How can people nap during the day? It throws my whole day off, turns me groggy and then, at 2am I'm laying in bed thinking, I should have just stayed asleep.

I'm not one of those people who can nap for just 20 - 30 mins and wake up refreshed. I have to get at least 2 hours of sleep or I'm totally crabby. ANd then, of course, I can't sleep at night. OTOH, sometimes a weekend full of napping is just what you need! :)

MmmMm, Red Robin fries sound so good right now. With some cheese sauce. We just got ours in the last year, and it's a nice break from Cheeburger Cheeburger sometimes.

And please tell me one thing. I want to see District 9, but I hate when a message or allegory has to be delivered with a hammer. So will I be happy catching it having said that?

Ohhh .. Cheeburger Cheeburger! Haven't eaten there in forever. Next Sunday it might be Italian - I'm kinda having a craving. We'll see if it's still what I want then.

District 9 - I didn't really think it was a "beat you over the head" movie. It's got a message, I won't deny that. But also remembering that Neill Bloomenkamp grew up in apartheid SA (and having lived there myself during apartheid), I think the movie definitely speaks to the life that many SA'ns lived for a long time.

Oh hey Steve! Welcome back! :)

I agree, your very helpful, knowledgeable and supportive. Thank you Kara, you're the best!

Oh, by the way, you should patent your 'kara sauce'(TM)

lol

I have been craving salad lately so today's lunch was a big salad - butter lettuce, cucumber, radishes, tomato ... all drizzled with strawberry basil balsamic vinegar. Really yummy.

This is turning out to be a really good week for me. Work is flowing along, the diet is working, and I'm actually managing to move past some of the emotional crap I've been dealing with. I woke up *not* angry for the first time in weeks. It really felt good.

Oh the week's food plan:
Monday: homemade pizza
Tuesday: grilled shrimp & veggies
Wednesday: Turkey burgers and grilled okra
Thursday: roasted chicken, potatoes, carrots
Friday: salmon on the grill, roasted eggplant
Saturday: chicken and black bean tostadas w/ avocado and tomato salad
Sunday: free day

I'm going to buy a bike this week and I'm really excited about it. I haven't owned a bike since the mid-90s. My favorite grocery store is about 2 miles from the house and I'm thinking it would be nice to use the bike to go shopping, rather than getting the car and driving.

That's why I asked, as just watching the previews made me strongly suspect a message behind the film. But as long as it's not a browbeat you kinda message it should be alright. Daddy likes his Sci-Fi.

Last House on the Left. Holy insane amount of graphic violence, Batman! Good movie, but .. yowza! Hammer-fu, disposal-fu, microwave-fu, gun-fu ... Joe Bob would be proud.

Time for bed now. Tomorrow I tackle the laundry and try to make a bit of a dent in the filing.

You're at 170!!!! Woot!

Good luck bike shopping! The last time i owned a bike was probably when i was 9? lol pretty sad. Maybe when i lose all the weight i plan on losing that will be my reward. I was initially thinking of getting a laptop...hmm

Oh thanks for noticing, NR! :) I was being subtle, but I'm actually really excited. 10 more lbs and I'll be at my lowest weight since I was in college. I'm really psyched about it.

I worked out at lunch today and it was ok. The only thing I don't like about working out at lunch is that I have to go back to the office after and I don't really have time for a full shower and re-do of hair/makeup. So I wind up doing the babywipes/sponge bath thing. Oh well. It meant I got in my gym time, since I can't go tonight.

The whole menu plan got changed around this week, so dinner tonight will be turkey meatballs in homemade tomato sauce. I'll probably roast some eggplant for me, and H can have salad if he wants.

Tomorrow I'll do the roasted chicken - since I forgot to take it out of the freezer last night anyway.
