Just a couple of progress photos :-)

I finally got the courage up to take a few photos of myself > without holding a big fish in front of myself ;) LOL}
.......and actually trying to look buff :) LOL

Their is certainly nothing after about these photos.... These are most definitely "during" !

The reason I stress this, is that when I look at these photos, I think, "Wow ! I look like a totally different person ! Geeez, I sure have come a long way......."

.......but then I think, "I'm not even close to where I want to be, in terms of muscle mass. My 3 year goal is 225lbs @ 9% BF. Currently, I'm 202 @ about 13.5%.
So I have a very tall mountain to climb !

I feel like I spent 19 of the last 20 months, just climbing up out of a very deep hole ! Now that I'm finally out, I'm standing at the bottom of mount Everest, and finally starting my climb !

Anyway, here's my old, torn up, obese self 20 months ago...

Current.... but not pumped... except for having just caught a 6 lb Smallmouth :)

And here I am now.... trying to look buff :) LOL Hey, stop laughing ! Just give me 3 years :)

Peace,
Fish

What a change!
Amazing job!
And good luck for the climb ;)

Awesome job! I have one question. Did you lose weight first then start hitting the weights or did you do it at the same time while you were losing weight?

Great job, man! Very impressive! You now look like the son of the guy in the first pics!

I have a few questions for you, if you don't mind.

Were you on BP meds back when you were 270#, with that high BP? If so, which med/meds?

Are you still on meds?

What was your diet/exercise routine?

How old/tall are you?

Thanks much. I'm greatly interested in what you did because you started at the same weight I am currently. Also, my BP lately has been averaging around the same as yours was before you started. I have Dr.s appt this coming Monday, and I'm super nervous. I don't want to be on meds, but a BP this high is fricking dangerous. Thanks for posting, you've inspired me already!

Much thanks again.

Machete, good question. I lost about 50 lbs, diet only, in my first 7 months or so... but then hit a hard plateau, for about 2 months. It wasn't until I started exercising, that I went on to lose another 30 lbs.

dn, another good question. My Dr. always wanted me to get on BP meds, back when I was obese > But I was so miserable back then, that I honestly didn't care if I did have a heart attack... No, seriously. And I even told my Dr. this.
It wasn't until after I lost that first 50 lbs, and was feeling so much better + better about myself, and was starting to think about some hard-core exercising, that I decided BP meds might be a good idea. Only took them for about 4 months though, then I just kept a close eye on my BP, as I started backing off the BP meds.
Nowadays, without any meds, my BP consistently averages 105/58 :)

Peace,
Fish

Thx so much for your response. I really appreciate it. Awesome BP too. I can tell when mine is high because I feel extra miserable...

What kind of diet did you follow to lose that initial 50#? When your BP was high, did your Dr. put you on a single BP med or multiple?

Thx again for the info, have a good day!

:iagree: What she said.

My first thought was "holy cow!"

Huge congrats, you look amazing. Gives me hope. :)

Thanks again guys :)

Dnrichards, nothing out of the ordinary really. I just cut out nearly all of the bad fats, sugars, processed foods, junk food, fast food, candy, chips, etc.

BTW, if you guys haven't heard me say this before, I actually believe I have a great metabolism. I might have worked harder than just about anyone to become obese in the first place. Heck, I ate 6000-8000 cals a day of pure sugary, processed, deep fried, fast food, junk-food garbage, for 20+ years !

Granted, the stuff that I eat now is 100 X's more healthy.... But it might surprise you that with my active job + all of my cardio and weight training, I'm still actually eating 3700 cals a day right now, as I finish my cut (down another couple lbs this morning... only about 3 lbs to go, before I start another bulk ;))
I break even at about 4000 cals a day, and I'm planning a long, slow, "clean" bulk (max muscle, min fat gains) at about 4300 cals a day. I ate closer to 5000 cals a day on my last couple bulks, but I think I was gaining too fast, so probably 50/50 fat and muscle. And of course, whatever fat I gain during a bulk, I just end up having to cut later.

Peace,
Fish

Looking good!! And it looks like you caught the biggest fish of all. I don't know, because I'm no expert but the guys in these photos all look pretty buff to me :)

Keep up your awesome work.
