Saturday 29/11/08 - Day 90 (7 Days to Deadline)
Rowing this morning, but back in the (club) single, with most of the older members of the club at Head of the Yarra there isn't really any contest for club boats.
We do 30 (yes THIRTY) x 30" on 1' off at max effort...
Wow, i am more than shagged afterwards, I am totally and utterly spent. Imagine doing HIIT for 45 mins when you also have to be concentrating on balance and technique in the boat so that you dont fall out. Crazy...
I have a well deserved rest afterwards but in the afternoon head to the gym.
3x1000m Ergo (rate: 20, 26, 32)
4x (each side) Cable Woodchoppers
4x15 (my coach calls them Execution Squats but
this calls them Choppers) with a 10kg M/B. Its an interesting exercise because it neither makes your quads or abs burn but do it properly and by the 3rd set you find you're whole body beginning to fatigue. Possibly also because my legs were already smashed by the row and ergos.
3x10 Incline Bench Press (working on explosiveness) @40kg
4x10 S/B Push Fly's
4x10 Curl and Press @20kg
Then did 20mins stretching.
Did a recovery swim and then a shower with 4x30"@hottest, 30"@coldest.
Feel good afterwards and not much soreness.
Food:
Breakfast
After that brutal workout I decide to treat myself to a low-fat milkshake and a ham and cheese croissant from the hugely popular local cafe 'King of Cakes'.
Snack 1:
Protein Shake
Pre-Ergo's:
170g Whole Wheat Pasta with tomato and basil sauce and beef mince
Post Gym:
Go to work and the chef whips me up another of those awesome beef, egg and cheese burgers he made me last night
Dinner:
Go out for dinner with the gf (more below) to a highly recommended Thai Restaurant... the food is actually fairly terrible.
Total Calories: ~2500 - really need to try and get this up for this last week so that I am fully energised, just try and hit that 3000 each day.
It was not a great evening to cap off a good day...
For starters the restaurant me and the gf went to was suprisingly bad given the recommendation I'd been given... but that was the least of it.
She told me that she's sick of playing second fiddle to rowing and that I never have time for her because I'm always training... the long and the short of it was that she broke up with me. I'm sure she could have picked a better time than a week out from states. I'm pretty dirty about it but not altogether suprised, I had a feeling something like this was coming. Still pretty cut up about it though.
Just got to throw myself into training and keep my focus for this last week...
Thought for the Day:
"Relationships are like glass. Sometimes it's better to leave them broken than try to hurt yourself putting it back together."
