Journey, Not A Destination

Got that right. Me especially... I always have to be doing something! I'll do enough relaxing when I'm dead!

Crushed my legs last night....

Deadlifts 2x3, 1x10
Assisted GHRs 3x10
Leg Press 4x13, 1x14

Oh yea, and watched the movie "Taken" last night. Not the greatest but better than I expected.

Yesterday's training went like this:

Overhead BB Press - 1x5, 1x3, 1x5 (increasing intensity each set)
Weighted Dips - 3x10
DB Flat Bench Press - 2x10
Close Grip Cable Pulldowns - 3x12
Close Grip Cable Rows - 2x12
DB French Press - 2x15
DB Curl - 1x15

Today is deadlift day.

Phew, I'm getting burned out. This is a high intensity week so it makes sense... plus the timing is perfect since next week is a deload week.

Deadlifts - 1x5, 1x3, 1x5
Assisted GHRs - 3x10
Leg Press - 5x11
Planks

We had some very wicked storms last night. I love being woken up by thunder and lightening... assuming I'm sleeping in the comfort of my bed indoors, lol. I love this time of year when the weather is warming up and passing storms are almost always in the forecast.

Today is an off day from training. I might throw in some low intensity cardio and will definitely be doing some mobility work and foam rolling.

We keep getting taunted with a little rumbling thunder, but nothing fun. I'm jealous.

Then again, I have a certain paranoia about Tornados following them. I should be thankful :biggrinjester:

Thanks for keeping my journal warm. :)

I've been MIA for a bit... just very busy. I have a pretty hectic schedule right now and I'm also gearing up for a short vaca to ATL next week.

Things are going well. Putting the finishing touches on my newsletter. If you're interested on being on the mailing list, please PM me your email addys.

Training yesterday was brief but intense...

Overhead Press - 3x5 increasing intensity from set to set
Weighted Dips - 2x10
DB Bench - 1x10
Cable Pulldown - 2x12
Cable Row - 1x12

Watched the movie Defiance last night. I enjoyed it. Was up later than should've been though and dragging a bit today.

Also trying to work out some hip pain I'm experiencing.

Hope everyone is well.

Atlanta :)

Got me a dog yesterday. Well, put a deposit on him... won't pick him up for until next weekend.

Seems like it suits him:hurray:

I've always wanted a dog, but there's no way we can afford to feed him, or ever take him to the vet. Sooo jealous, hehe. With a new puppy the house will be plenty more busy (and fun).

It should be interesting to see how Bob and Frank (my cats) react to Brady.

My wife has never in her entire life owned a dog, so she's super excited.

Steve,
I know you do the overhead barbell press in your workouts. I was curious about this and watched some video on it.

I went to the Rippetoe version on youtube. It appears this guy knows what he is taking about.

So i have been doing this exercise for the last week.

I am slowly but surely getting there with some major lifts. (squats, press) What to learn deadlifts next.

Do you think the general bulking routine on Lyle's website would be good for me to do?

Also, did a couple 4k last week in the whites. Good times!!

First, I'm jealous. I'm dying for some hiking up in the Whites! How was the weather?

What are your current goals? I like Lyle's bulking routine. It's just one of many that I like but it's very similar to a lot of the training I've done.

We hiked Mount Hancock which has a north and south summit. It rained for about 20 minutes while on the north summit. (we went to the south first). Not a bad hike but view werent that good. Still good to be out there. I really want to get into the Presidentials this year. Plan on doing Washington in September.

My goals right now is to eat at maintenence or slightly over and try to add some size. I would like to do a nice bulk before cutting. I still have fat on the midsection but since i lost quickly i lost a lot of muscle. Lyle says this should be done over 6-8 weeks which is a good time frame for me to evalutate what to next, bulk some more or go back into a calorie defecit.

Thoughts?
