Journey, Not A Destination

I'll answer this question when you can answer me this: Why the fuck to most people do the things they do?

Force of habit, maybe they think it works for them (ah, the power of the mind!), somebody at the gym told them to do it ... how the fuck do I know :D :willy_nilly:

Anyway, thanks for posting the article on Casein :) As usual, it's pretty much exactly what I wanted and helps my brain to accumulate even more information! My brain needs to be flushed of bad information every now and then to make way for the good stuff ;)

I think I'm going to start calling you the walking fitness and nutrition encyclopedia, Steve :hurray:

Gee, you really know how to make a man sound like a gigantic nerd.

But didn't you know that those are the sexiest kind of guys on the planet, Steve? Brains are HOT, HOT, HOT!!!! :p

What woman wants to hang with a moron while wearing a shirt that says: :iamwithstupid: That reminds me of South Park ...

Haha, very true. Looking around, being healthy this day in age compared to the rest doesn't take much. But looking at your pics and as active as you are, you're all good. :)

Training yesterday was lower body strength:

Started with a 15 minute warmup involving foam rolling, flexibility and mobility stuff.

Then:

Box Squats - very light 135 for 5x4
Speed Deadlifts - very light 135 for 8x2
Walking DB Lunges - 35 x 8
Reverse Crunches - 3x12 supersetted with
Planks 3 x 60 seconds

Today we did steady state cross country running with a ton of hills for 25 minutes. It was freezing out.

My legs are sorer than hell! Today is upper body strength day, which will entail:

Single Arm DB Push Presses
Close Grip Chins
Pushups
Single Arm DB Rows
Rotator Cuff Work
Planks

And a lot of active mobility stuff coupled with foam rolling.

I made my own foam roller the other day with some pvc piping and this insulation tape to provide some cushioning... works great and was very cheap.

Foam rollers aren't exactly a expensive piece of equipment... though sometimes tough to find... is there any benefit to making your own? like sizing or amount of foam?

I bought a cheap foam roller from a local sporting good store and after a few months of use, it looked like an elephant trampled it. It was permenantly smashed.

Depending on the person and their level of tension in the various tissues, varying degrees of firmness/softenss should be applied.

Since I devote a decent amount of time to using a foam roller, it was time to graduate to something with a little more firmness, hence the pvc piping.

Plus, I felt cool making my own.

:p

killjoy...
I was always ready to be positive about something...

I could do designs :)

electrical tape does come in colors bright :)

and there are always sharpies :D

No no no - me being positive is just not meant to be..

though i gotta say you speaking french is pretty hot :D
nice use of accented characters

I like the sounds of that roller ... although I think some day glo paint would kick it up a few notches :D

Steve, I got the Supertraining and Strength Training books today ...

I'M ABSOLUTELY MOIST WITH ANTICIPATION OF READING THEM!!!!

I've already taken a cursory look through them, and OMG they are EXACTLY what I need!!!

THANK YOU, STEVE!
YOU'RE THE BEST!!!!

Now I just have to read them and actually apply the stuff to my workouts :)

So I'll probably have a few questions for you over the next few months while I'm trying to tweak things!

Awesome. Exciting stuff, isn't it?

Supertraining isn't an applicable book IMO. It's just to intense with information and way overboard in terms of what most any trainees need to know.

That said, what it is for me is a tool I use to establish my foundation to critically assess most all other information out there.

And most books I read, I only need to read once and I understand most everything. Not the case with Supertraining. I continually find myself going back to better understand a particular nuance. It's the most referenced strength training book I've ever seen, meaning most articles you see that are worth reading relating to strength training reference Supertraining.
