Journey, Not A Destination

Yup, it's been a stressful month to say the least. However, the agreements are all signed so now it's just a matter of the home passing certain inspections. It should be a relatively smooth ride from here on out.

Thanks man.

Gas doens't matter much when you don't drive a whole heck of a lot. In addition, the rebates they're giving on full size pick ups far outweigh the increase in the cost of gas.

When they're giving 15-20k off the trucks, gas doesn't really matter, lol.

The Tundra's are real nice. I actually like the looks of the Dodge Ram better though. The Quad Cab at least. In addition, Tundras are way over-priced. I agree, beautiful truck. Just not shelling out that sort of money right now. I'm looking to cut my monthly payments since my bills are going to sky rocket once I get this house.

So yesterday I actually did go out and buy a new truck. It was very, very hard to let go of my car. Shit, I could've shed a tear... I loved that thing.

But the truck is very nice. I'm more than impressed. It's the Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab Big Horn with the 5.7 L hemi engine. It's got some balls. Plus it's practical as all hell relative to that sports car I had.

Haha - hot damn I bet that thing sounds nice! You need to post some pics of the house and truck! Yeah, the money you save up front and in monthly payments from the discounts on trucks right now can more than make up for the gas price.
I'm assuming you traded in the Nissan to help shave off the price of the truck. Not a bad move, I'm sure.

The tundra I configued was $21,000. That was with the top of the line engine(v8,386hp,400Torque, if i remember right). Of course, It was single cab. But seeing as how you are married and have a new house you will likely need the extra cab soon enough. ;)

What model year is the truck?

It has some grumble to it, that's for sure. I like the sound though I'll miss the sound of the Z. That thing sounded bad ass. But this is totally different, apples to organges.

I posted some pics of the house a while back. If you go out to the diaries section and find mine, there should be a paperclip icon next to my thread title. If you click on that, you'll see all the pics I've posted in this thread. The house photos are in there.

Without a doubt. I doubt I'll be stacking on the miles anyhow. The new house is about 15 miles round trip. The Z I only put on 16000 miles and I had that for 3 years.

It helps that I also have my jeep wrangler. Old but gets the job done.

I didn't make out too well actually on the trade in... but I had to get rid of it. I still owed a good chunk of change on it and pretty much paid off what I owed and put a few thousand down on the truck.

Yea, I was in the market for a four door. They're much more pricey. And I think you'd be surprised by how 'cheap' the baseline models look. If you go to the lot, the trucks that actually look nice are pricey as all hell.

The sticker price on my truck was 38k.

I paid nowhere near that though.

It's an 08.

The 2009s come out soon and I don't really like them, so I wasn't about to wait.

I'll go back and look for the pics later on.

I have never really seen the inside of a any expensive car/truck, in person, to be honest. So the tundras "cheap" looking interior would likely look very high class to me. lol

Anyway, enough about the tundra.

What kind of audio system came on your truck, and what color is it? You know, from what I've seen of the 09's I really like.

I still need a car. If were able to get a new car it would likely be a Honda Civic or a Honda fit.
I love the scion Tc but the mpg's ain't all that great. And I will likely be driving quite a bit so its very important to me.

You know, you could have always gone with a van. Yeah, get a little fanny pack and start jogging the down the street with little pink wrist weights and a headband...Yup, I can totally see you that way...lol

I used to be all impressed by the interiors of nice cars. Now it's more about the performance to me. This Dodge's interior looks cheap compared to the Z's interior. The Z was decked out inside. But now it's all about practicality.

I don't think the Tundra's have a cheap interior. At least not the one I was looking at. The thing I love about the new Tundras is that the rear window goes all the way down. At least on the expensive models. They're nice trucks.

What kind of audio system came on your truck,

Nothing fancy. That was something I was a little upset about. The Z came with a Bose system with 7 speakers, which is a lot for a little two seater. It also had a sub woofer standard.

This is your typical truck, nothing fancy inside.

and what color is it?

I went with silver.

You know, from what I've seen of the 09's I really like.

Yea, they have some fancy stuff. They're a bit too fancy for my liking when it comes to trucks. They come standard with dual exhaust which is nice. They have some features I haven't seen on a truck yet, like the side trunks and whatnot. I just like the looks of the 08s better personally. To boot, the 09s I'm sure will be costly to deck them out.

Something 4 cylinder with a stick, nice and small. You should be able to find a civic for a decent price, depending what you're planning on spending.

That's a negative, lol.

Yeah, for sure on the 4banger and the stick is a must. A man ain't a man if he doesn't know how to work his stick.

I'm a little surprised they didn't give you the upgraded sound system for 38grand. It doesn't matter, though. You can get a better sound system than the upgraded stock unit cheaper after market and install it yourself or have someone else do so for you.

Silver? Haha - good for you. It really gets tiring seeing RED dodges at every turn. Go against the masses, man! lol

So did you ever settle for a logo for your site?

BTW, is the 'Gordon' I see over at Rippetoe's forum your business partner?

We did decide on our logo and had it created. It was similar to what we originally wanted with the Vitruvian Man. It turned out perfect in our eyes.

And no, that's not my partner over on Strength Mill.

Hi Steve, I can't think of what time it is where you're at but it's still before noon over here. Hope your wheelings and dealing go well, I'm living large in Hawaii and postin' pictures--have a good night (?) :D

ALOHA!

Thanks Val, and thanks for the pics! I love seeing pics of Hawaii. I let my mind escape to the memories I have there daily.

James drives a 4 door Dodge Ram 1500! He added a grill guard, side steps, etc. It's sexy. It's the whole reason I gave him a chance! :p

Update

So it was a very busy weekend. It's been a very busy month, actually. This weekend was an important one. I got traded in my car for a truck and we finalized the agreements on the house... everything is all signed.

Testing on the septic system starts tomorrow... it's a two day test. This is the last serious hurdle.

I still haven't decided what I will be doing about locking in my interest rate. We don't get a solid settlement date until after this septic test, so I suppose I'll wait until then.

On the business front, we have been doing absolutely nothing. Our camera has been in the repair shop of best buy for about a month. I really need to call them and see what's going on. It will be the end of the year before we know it.

I'll be pretty busy today, I'll stop in when I can.
