Journey, Not A Destination

Yup, it's a hike up Mt. Washington in N.H. Actually, we're hiking up all the peaks there.

Thanks :)

That's fricken awesome! I love backpacking. Are you guys going hard core w/the dehydrated backpackers food and camel paks? Will you get your water out of the rivers?

Stay out of the poison oak!! Not sure if you have that in NH but here in CA it's really bad. Apply sun screen to!!

Yuppers....

Dehyrdated food. I'm also packing a bag of skittles. :p

I'll have a water bladder but it certainly won't last so the stream water will suffice after that runs out.

We'll be camping out tonight, tomorrow, Friday, Saturday, and possibly Sunday and Monday. That all depends on what we do after the hike. If the weather is right, we might hang around and camp out a few more nights. But we'll play it by ear.

Sounds like a great time. Enjoy being out under the heavens and "living" off the land...lol (except the skittles). Backpackers food is not actually that bad...after you trick your brain into thinking putting water and powder together to form scrambled eggs is normal. LOL

I've got some protein bars too. I'll probably opt for them first, lol. I think we'll have a blast.... departure time is fast approaching!

be safe... don't fall off the mountain...

Don't be grossed out by some fo the thru hikers - they don't like to shower.

have a blast - enjoy and all that..
and take lots of pictures

and this morning it's a balmy 29.9 degrees with a wind chill of 10.5

he large area of low pressure that has been with us the past few days will continue to exit east today. The back side of the low will continue to generate upslope showers mixed with convective cells. Some of the convective cells may build enough for a rumble of thunder this afternoon if allowed enough heating. Showers will also be mostly snow mixed with snow grains, small hail, and possible freezing rain or rain as temperatures rise. The freezing line will continue to be above 4000 feet. Overnight, upsloping will continue to bring fog with a chance of snow showers with the best shot at precipitation early in the night. Tomorrow, the building high will allow for drier air to finally wedge in allowing for a clearing trend to start on and above the summits. Wind chills today will start 0-10 above rising to 10-20 above before falling back to 0-10 above overnight and rising again to 10-20 above tomorrow. Reminder: If traveling above tree line today, be prepared for variable weather. It may feel like spring in the valley but it is like winter on the summits. Cotton and tennis shoes are not advisable. Lastly, if you hike up be prepared to hike down.

Gordy told steve they were supposed to have great weather... Poor Gordy - Steve's gonna kick his cute little behind :D

And this enquiring mind really hopes that gordy removed his nipple rings -b ecause he could have seriously frosty nipples in that weather.

Hope you're havng fun and staying warm :D
