Journey, Not A Destination

So first day of the new diet went phenomenal. It was very easy to adhere to and I loved eating so few meals (only 4 not counting the pb&j).

The workout on the other hand, was one of the hardest things I've ever done, believe it or not. My partner actually had to stop, that's the first time that has happened. He was on his back on the gym floor for a good 20 minutes before hopping back in.

Weight was an even 189 this morning and I'm looking leaner. The cut should be paced/slow from here on out since I'm really only dieting 4 days per week and the other days the caloric intake is.... well..... huge.

I watched a good movie last night: Rendition.

Thursday I have tickets to the flyers playoff game... that should be fun.

That's about it.

Oh yea, and since I started training my partner, he's down a little over 25 lbs since Jan. 1. That's with no cardio.

don't stick that tongue out unless you plan on using it :D

(that could technically be about nutrition... :)

glad you had a good day 1 on your diet and you made your workout partner cry like a girl.. :D

My home town has a flyers hockey team, so I perked up to read that for whatever reason.

But, good job pushing yourself. Just don't go and get injured :) we don't want another item for your list of accidents.

This isn't too hard on the body, actually. It's much lighter weights than I'm used to. It's hard in the context that it's voluminous and fast-paced all on low carbohydrates.

But thanks for the concern. :)

have you mentioned your workout partner's stats - I think you have - but I don't remember truth be told (shame on me for not paying attention) 25lbs is a big chunk to lose - what's he looking to get down to?

He's about 5'11 and started at 234.

He says he wants to get down to 200, since he hasn't seen that number in years... but he's really in it to see what he can do with his body. He wants to get relatively lean, which he is well on his way to.

He wants to be a before and after on the website..... and he will be if all goes well and he sticks with it. It will be tough for him now that the weather is getting nicer. He won't get fat again. But he might not reach his physique goals. That's a decision he'll have to make.

He's a golf maniac and being able to golf most evenings and maintaining what he has right now in terms of physique may look pretty darn good compared to golfing less to get leaner.

We'll see.

Why are people so crazy about golf?
Is it really that wonderful of a sport?

I've done it a few times and can see how it can get addicting, truthfully. You spend quality time outside in the beautiful weather with your buddies. Friendly competition, some booze, fresh air, driving cool carts, haha. I just don't have the time or patience to be good at it right now.

I don't understand how people are even getting the balls in the holes with that booze going into their systems :)

Mark Twain said golf was a good walk spoiled... but I don't agree...

It takes a lot of dedication to get good at it... but it's a a lot of fun...

Carts? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

the before and afters would be interesting to see...

We'll see what becomes of it. He is self-conscious so even though he looks like a new person already, he won't allow it unless he looks 'ripped.' At least I don't think he will.

IMO golf is a great sport.
People that do not play it do not get it, thats all.
Most people do not drink to excess on the course- a couple beers sure but not to excess.

Golf is awesome....I play every summer, and lose half my body weight in sweat due to the hot texas heat

ahh the 113 degree weather is so pleasant :)

a few years ago I was at a conference in Scottsdale Arizona and played at this beautiful course - our tee time was 6:00am - because of the heat - they had no tee times after 11:00am because it's just too damn hot to play :D
