Journey, Not A Destination

No trains in the exact area, unfortunately... although their pushing for it. I'll believe it when I see it though.

I left early enough that I shouldn't have had a problem. But the Apple store wound up being a longer visit than I attended it to be.

Wow, this apple pro is pretty amazing. I'm very impressed so far. Everything from the design to the operating system so far. The only thing is, I thought I was an idiot on a PC. Macs are really different. Everything from the mouse to the programs. It's fun figuring stuff out though.

The simplest of things seems hard. Just maximizing this screen to fit the entire thing was tough for me, lol.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to open multiple windows of safari.

safari there's a preference whether you want a new window or a new tab...

the nice thing about macs -is once oyu figure out how to do somehting in one application - it's pretty consistant across all apps...

Wow did I have a busy weekend.

Friday evening I did some shopping for warm weather clothing. I wanted to get some nice things and ended up getting nothing but new sneakers, a gym bag, and a ton of mesh shorts, lol. Then I went out to eat with Krista to a fabulous Italian joint down the street from my home. They have the best Chicken Parm!

Saturday morning I woke up early and it was so nice out... so I went for a leisurely bike ride on a trail by my house. It's an awesome trail that winds along the Schuylkill River.

As soon as I got back, I packed up and headed off to Gords to work on the website. As much as I'm enjoying the process of developing this company... it's taking a toll too. It's a lot of work. The closer we get to what we think is being finished, the more we find out we have to do. This weekend was all about starting the Video Section of the site. We've been filming for a few weeks now but we had not edited anything, produced anything, or gotten anything up on the site. So we accomplished quite a bit. We got the video section up and started and we have about 15 exercises or so up and produced. The Apple is EXTREMELY user-friendly with that kind of stuff... it really helped the process. The more I use it, the more I enjoy it.

I didn't really think it through but every single exercise we have a video for we need to make an individual webpage for. We're not opening until we have at least 100 videos. Right now we only have 30 or so and only about half of them are edited and produced... so we have a huge job cut out for us. We haven't even gotten into the real exercises yet... just a bunch of dynamic mobility stuff.

So yea, we're in crunch time now. With the nice weather it's tough to keep focused. Every 30 minutes Gord and I went out and did something.... jog, football, etc.

Gord is also talking with his gym about letting us head up the 'supervised training' for their gym, which would be huge! Real huge. They have an enormous clientèle and have a very nice system in place for converting members to training clients. That said, they have a huge untapped membership that doesn't pay for training. Gord showed the owner/manager our site and discussed what we have in mind and they said they might use us for this supervised training, which is a fancy way of saying online training. But the potential traffic from that is real big. If we landed that, I'm not sure I'd stay working my other job long at all.

Concerns so far though are as follows:

1. The cut they would take.
2. Branding... Gord thinks they'd want to brand it as their own which isn't happening. We can work something out, but there has to be some give with the take.
3. Gord also thinks they'd want all their trainers involved which also isn't happening unless we're getting a cut of all their business. This site is my heart and soul 'on paper' so to speak... I'm not going to simply let anyone use it just b/c they 'train' for some gym.

The list goes on. It comes down to me having to get in there and work out the nuts and bolts with the guy when the time comes. If something comes from it... great. If not, it's no sweat really.

Gee.... What a fabulous idea to get a mac :)

As for the rest - all good things take time, and you're making a lot of progress.. 30 is a lot more than 0 - and not that far off from 100... so just keep going forward..

Geeez -where have I heard that before? :D

Yea thanks a ton Mal... I owe you. I would have never gotten one if you hadn't planted the seed. I never thought I would like that operating system more than I do microsoft's. But I so do so far.

Yup, that's what we're doing. When it's ready, it's ready. We are still enjoying the ride thoroughly and more and more keeps getting added to the fire so potential is through the roof right now. Exciting stuff.

Have you seen the video section yet Mal? I'd be interested in hearing your throughts. I'm not so sure I like Homestead's 'method' of creating lists of links...

So I've been real busy as of late. I'm really stepping up the work on the website yesterday... spent almost the entire day yesterday working on cosmetics of it. I'm very happy with what the end-product turned out to be. Still has a long way to go but it's the first that I've been able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I sat down yesterday and planned out all the trips I'd be taking this year. There are 6-7 I'm taking without Krista! Thank goodness she is so cool.

As of right now, without her I'm doing:

1. Bachelor party for my cousin (destination to be decided but should only be 2-3 days.

2. Bachelor party for another guy marrying into my family and should be the same deal.

3. Fishing trip in honor of Jared who passed away last year. It used to be his favorite trip up to NY each year that we'd take annually. I actually stopped taking this trip a couple of years back but I think it's good that I go this year.

4. Fishing trip to the Poconos, near where I went to school with a bunch of old college buddies.... this I can't wait for.

5. Atlanta for the annual conference for finance.

6. Right now it looks like Gordy and I will be going to the national annual NSCA training conference. This I can't wait for and really hope we are able to attend, especially since it's in Las Vegas! That's coming up in July and Gordy is not 100% yet. I am, only if he goes though. I might end up going alone, but we'll see.

7. I'll probably attend one more conference for fitness/nutrition.

Then I have to plan something with Krista. Last year was Hawaii for the honeymoon and that was expensive as all hell. So we want to do something more low key this year... but we haven't discussed that much yet.

A lot happening this year!

hank goodness she is so cool
well duh - that's why she married you doofus :D

Side note: i've seen a lot of good relationships and a lot of really bad ones... and while I've not seen the two of you togehter (hey come to chicago for a second honeymoon - chicago is awesome in july :) ) it seems that your relationship works becuase she's letting you be who you are and do what youdo and not trying to change you... that seems to be lost on a lot of people... :D

SOunds like you've got some good times ahead though..

take krista to vegas :) it's a fun city - even if you dont' gamble :D

That is why we work well, she let's me be me and I do the same for her. And we've never had a real fight, unbelievable to most... but true as the chair I sit in right now.

If Gordy doesn't go, I would take Krista... but she is taking grad classes at that time and won't be able to go... so I might be flying solo, which I don't really have a problem with.

Wow, Steve. You guys sure are doing it right with the website I'd say. I'm glad you aren't launching until you get more of it together. It also sounds like you are going to majorly busy these coming months with all the parties and fishing trips and events you are attending. Good luck with it all.

I hope once your site comes up that you still visit us back here some.

Thanks :)

Trust me, I think I'll always call this place my 'home forum.' I don't see my forum getting as active as this one.... and I enjoy it here. I'll be here no less.

Morning Steve!

I never thought I would like that operating system more than I do microsoft's. But I so do so far.

It's really not hard to like OS other than Microsoft... I actually shudder in fear when I think about using it at any place other than the office... and I wish my office didn't use it either but I'll keep my rant on my office and their fear of technology for another day.

5. Atlanta for the annual conference for finance.

Hopefully this won't be another record setting August... last year was hot as all hell. But I should say that my favorite conference that comes thru the city is DragonCon when I snicker at all of the costumes.... :)

mmm macs are nice - i run a mac laptop at home and love it. I bought it originally for the hardware and pretty looks but never ended up reinstalling it with linux like i planned because the mac did so well.

So where is this new website anyway?

They're great, aren't they? I'm so happy with the purchase... worth every penny.

So where is this new website anyway?

It's a secret. :p
