Hola everyone...
Things have been extremely busy around here. Work is driving me into the ground but I'm in high spirits. This weekend Gordy and I are slated to finish the last bit of content for our site. Things that are holding us up right now:
1) Should we get into great detail on the exercise page. I tend to think not. They are just too broad of topics and I doubt anyone would want to read all that I'd want to say if we were going to go into detail. I was thinking the exercise page would be better if it had a video of the month posted at the top or something, an exercise tid bit of the week or something, a Q&A of the month, and a very general blurb about the benefits associated with the basic forms of exercise. Everything would be updated almost monthly except for that last general blurb. There would also be a link to the exercise video demonstration page.
2. Same deal with the nutrition page. This can get even more nitty gritty and I don't think that's what should be done. Something like a recipe of the month maybe, fact of the month, and very general blurb about what important factors are a must for a successful diet plan. Nothing more.
3. If that's the route we take, of course we'd put a blurb about, 'for more serious inquiries and discussions, please visit out forum.'
4. We're having a hell of a time picking a logo for our site. Gord came up with the idea of using the Vitruvian Man. He wanted to work that health symbol into it and put wings on the Vitruvian man. Seemed far out to me but wouldn't you know he did some searching and that has already been drawn. We thought about using the image but a) it's a little sloppy and b) the rights to it are ridiculously expensive, and the rights only last 5 years or so.
Neither of us are real artsy so this weekend we are meeting with a tattooist and showing him the picture mentioned above and telling him a bit about us and hopefully he can come up with a cool idea. If not.... we're back to square one.
For those interested, here is the picture from above:
I'm wondering if the tattooist can do something similar will we get sued?
5. We actually decided to go the route of designing the website ourselves. We were working with a designer/developer and it was just too much of a pain in the ass. So I decided to sign up to the homestead platform, which is an application that allows you to design websites without knowing all the code and language. This way Gord and I can build/tweak on the fly and we know exactly how to update and make changes without having to learn anything crazy or go through an intermediary to make basic changes on the site. It actually is turning out really well. I have a contact at homestead who told me it's one of the best one's he has seen in his time there that's created by ametuers.... he could very well be blowing smoke up my ass... but we'll see. I think we are going to design as much of it as we can then hand it over to a homestead designer and have him clean up and make the finishing touches.
Busy, busy, busy.
As always, up for any suggestions, thoughts or comments.
Hope everyone is well.
Oh yea, I've also decided to obtain some more certifications. I just ordered my NASM material. The only reason I like the NASM is that it's strong where I feel my current cert is weak. Though I don't think I'll learn anything spectacular.... it's more for show. There are actually 2 certifications I'm interested in from NASM.
After that, I think I'm going to shoot for my CSCS from NSCA sometime later this year if everything goes as planned.
