Journey, Not A Destination

so now, you're peeing on your opponents :) that makes for a worthy sparring partner :)

there -- take that!!!

Haha, debating here sucks.

I've initiated debate now a few times in the past month or so here and the "trainer" never comes back.

Wimps.

If you ever think of leaving, I'll grab my trusty roll of duct tape and well- let's just say I know what to do with it :)

I don't see the thought ever crossing my mind.

This is my home.

Even when I have my own forum, this will be a daily resting place for me. :)

Hi, Steve. How's the site coming?
Has your life changed much now that you're married, or is it pretty much the same?
Even if it's the same now, when Steve Jr. or Stephanie comes along, then it will be WAY different!

Progress is slow with the site.... but there's progress. The developor seems to know her stuff. She quit as a full-time developer b/c she married a rich man. But she still has a passion for it and does it on the side. She also lives in the same development as my partner.... so very accessible.

I will certainly be asking some more questions as we uncover more facts about her. As of now, we simply had an introductory meeting. I asked her a lot of the questions people gave me here, and she seemed to answer them well.

Now we've got to get her some introductory content to start working her magic. I am supposed to have a big meeting with my partner on Saturday.... we'll see how and if it goes.

Married life is exactly the same as previous life, thankfully. I was happy then and I'm happy now. I really wasn't expecting much change.... until, as you said, children come.

How's your back?

Glad to hear the site's coming along -- can't wait to see the final product!

Back is AOK now, thanks. I want to keep it that way for a while, too! :D

The site's very premature yet.... so don't hold your breath.

Glad about the back.

I have an issue with my hand going on right now. I'm worried I fractured something in it or have some ligament damage. I thought it was merely a jammed finger. However, the pain just won't go away. I wouldn't worry about it, however, it's really screwing up my pressing exercises!

Thinking about going to see an ortho soon.

ahem -

do more than think about it - pick up phone - gingerly press buttons for number of said doctor - make appointment - and get your cute butt and hand to the doctor.

If it's interfering with your usual routine - then it's time to suck it up and just go...

Now - move it...

Yea, I know. I am being proactive with it.... just trying to figure out which doc I want to place my trust in. I've had some bad experiences with some local orthos.

I know an extremely good one in philly, world renown actually... but the wait to see him is incredibly long. So I figured I'd go to a schlup to just so I can get an xray and if something ends up being wrong.... I'll make another appt. with the good guy to get his advice.

Just dropping in for my daily dose of annoying :)

Hope you have a delicious thursday and the sun comes out and does some shining... :D

Ginger Kitty said to say hi to Frank and Bob :)

Hiya Mal. And Bob and Frank say hi to Ginger Kitty too, lol.

The sun better come out soon. It's getting depressing around here!

the east coast generally gets what chicago has a day or two later... and well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I am negative nellie after all, there's been no sign of sun for days... :)

you just need to turn up the intensity of your aura or something and you can be the sun :D yeah, even I did't buy that...

From PM

Hi again,
You wanted to know what my current workout was in order to help me figure out a full body workout MWF. So, here it is:

Monday: bent over row, concentrated curls, stiff leg deadlift, chin ups, lat pulldown, pull ups (or push ups sometimes)

Wednesday: cable cross over, military press seated, bench press, tricep cable pulldown, cable crunches

Friday: calf raises, smith machine squats, leg press, oblique twist, hanging twist, cable crunches

This split is inefficient, to say the least.

Ideally you are working out with varying intensities for each muscle group MULITPLE TIMES PER WEEK.

The problems with your current structure are:

1. Only training 1-2 body parts per day.

2. Too many exercises per body part.

3. The routine is unbalanced.

4. I'm not a fan (at all) of smith machine squats.

There's probably more, but that's what I see at first glance.

Also, you didn't really give me any context here. I'm not sure how many sets and reps you were using.

In making a full body workout plan, should it be a different workout each day?

There's no right or wrong really. Personally, I like to have different workouts for different days.

At the minimum, have an A and B workout and alternate them.

You also asked why I think I have to keep changing my routine to get better results- well I've read that your muscle get used to the same exercises and then they stop being challenged. [/quote]

Where'd you read that?

Muscle confusion is so overblown it disgusts me. You've got people all over the place making no progress. Reason being: They're constantly changing around their programs and not building any sort of foundation with the basic lifts.

Your muscles don't get sick of the same movements. They don't have their own minds. Certainly plateaus in strength and hypertrophy can arise. However, it's not as rapid as people make it out to be.

For instance, a novice can and SHOULD focus on a handful of lifts, concentrating on adding weight to the bar consistently (progressive overload).

But I never know what to do to change things, because I really the moves I already do.

Simply adding weight is a "change." A good one at that.

So once again, any help would be great.

Before I give you a suggested outline, are you running or doing a lot of cardio at the moment?

If you are, that will affect what I recommend for leg training.
