I gain am gaining weight right now too. That is my goal. ;)

But I could maintain on 3000-3250, maybe even more. I have my metabolism running very efficiently, as well as being blessed with a fast metabolism. Muscle building is a very energy intensive process, meaning, you need to supply your system with a boat load of calories (energy). That is why I always have to roll my eyes when I hear, namely women, say, I don't want to lift weights because I don't want to get bulky. One, very few women have the genetic and hormonal disposition to actually increase muscle mass under optimal conditions. Two, and more importantly, how on earth do you suppose you are going to build muscle when you are in an energy deficit.

I eat 6-7 full meals per day.

Well, I'm sure most women don't realize they need to have more calories to build.

I think they've just seen female body builders, and think - 'oh, that's what I'd turn into'

I have always had a lot of muscle, and have been very strong and having had a lot of fat, the last thing I wanted was to GET BIGGER. It's a scary concept - and rooted with misinformation, it's hard to get past.

I posted a food list on one of the pages of my journal. I am too lazy to go back and find it, but it was extensive.

For proteins, I eat chicken breast, turkey breast, pork tenderloin, lean ground beef, lean cuts of steak, eggs, protein shakes

For fats, I get some in from the above meats and various other foods I throw in. I also take 6 grams of fish oil per day. I also use an oil called Udo's Choice, which is a blend of efas. I also eat nuts daily.

For carbs, I eat oatmeal, whole wheat pasta, potatos (sweet and white), whole wheat wraps

I also eat a bunch of fruit and veggies.

No, I don't eat junk food. Really, I would have the same results physique-wise if I added twinkies here and there, but I am not in this only for a good physique. I am in this for optimal health and performance as well.

Hey steve...well my illness from yesterday must of been a one day thing. I am doing better than ever today. I got all of my sleep in....even though I still woke up multiple times during the night. Sleeping till 10:30 when you don't have class is the greatest. Now that my rest day is gone I must get back into routine with my exercise. How's your day going? Today isn't a rest day is it...I don't think it is but I could be wrong.

Nope, today is not a rest day. Killer leg workout this evening. Can't wait! :D

Howdy Steve,
I am new to your diary but I must say congrats on all
your hard work you look umm well WOW!!!
Can you give a gal some tips on how to lose the gut it has shrunk alot
but I am afraid I will have a gut forever no matter what I do?I can deal
with a pouch but it looks like all my skin ect is starting to sag will this tone
up in time?I do 100-125 crunches everyday I do leg lifts lieing on my back
any other exerscies you care to shre? Thanks Tammy:)

Steve, bumming through the threads here and found this. Thought you'd get a laugh (or slackjaw) out of it. Weird how the study found out that adding muscle makes the body burn LESS calories and that dieting alone does not cause any more muscle mass to be lost when compared with people who also exercised while dieting.

And here you are eating ~4,000 calories a day (and I used to, too, when I was a training heavy - and only weighed 110 lbs). If I tried to eat 4,000 calories a day now that I'm barely weight training, I'd double my size for sure.

Hey Steve, just popping into say HI and i hope you have a really good day!! keep up all your awesome work!!!

Sorry, I have been MIA in my own journal.

Schedule has been ridiculous the past few days, but things are going good. :)

Thanks!

First, thanks so much for the kind words, I really appreciate them more than you know. :)

I wouldn't waste your time doing all those crunches each and every day, remember, you can't turn fat into muscle. You can't spot reduce. Losing the fat comes through being in a caloric deficit over time.

Regarding the lose skin, I would highly recommend privately messaging Leigh, I forget if that is her full username here, but hopefully you know who I am talking about. We just had some interesting conversations regarding this exact topic and she has some nice suggestions.
