Journey, Not A Destination

No.

A refeed is a very structured period of overfeeding where fat intake is minimized, protein is held constant, and particular carbs are consumed in large quantities.

There are various reasons for this but suffice it so say that some of the primary hormones are mostly responsive to carb intake.

Frequency and length of refeeds vary due to fat mass, diet, etc.

No tools necessary. To be frank, almost all of my diets contain refeeds at this stage in the game.

I've talked about refeeds before. Just not often since most around here are still carrying a good bit of body fat and they really aren't critical at that stage in the game.

They certainly aren't necessary. For some they're downright impossible b/c of the psychology of it all. They can't handle the diet fluctuations, water flux, and such.

Val, if you're truly interested in all this stuff, I highly suggest reading through the following links. It's a lot, but well, well worth the time if you're interested:

Yah, I love Lyle's stuff, however, I think I am in that majority of the "psychological" group. I don't think I could handle a refeed at this point, I would probably flip out over the weight gain. I don't think I like the amount of weight I gained during my bulk recently.

I'd like to stick to cheat meals every few weeks... but I know that still doesn't help my RMR, just my psychology to keep to what I do.

I suppose my question is sort of on the same lines as others... if I went back to eating maintenance levels... my RMR + exercise calories (estimates of course), would that bring my metabolism back to normal levels for my weight.

Damn, Steve! I'm impressed with your video. That is some tough stuff there. :) Have you thought of taking up Russian dancing? Looks like you could do it pretty easily.

My chin up capabilities are similar to Kristas..lol.

Here it is - lower, and I'll have to do another post for the upper. I just wanted to tell you.

Leg press 3 x 12 @110
Hack squats 3 x 10 at nothing
Ball squats 3 x 10 @ 15
Lunges holding medicine ball up high, 3 difficult sets
Superset leg curls and leg extensions, I forget the weights

Then 25 minutes on the stationary bike and he showed me how to do intervals and fat burning, a minute on high and then a couple minutes to recover and then high again.

Back: pulldowns 3 x 12 @ 6
plow 3 x 12 @ 6

Chest: Chest press 3 x 12 @ 7 or vary weight
D.B. Incline Press 3 x 12-15 @ 10lbs

Shoulders: D.B. Military Press 3 x 10 @ 10lbs
Lateral Raises 3 x 10 @ 5lbs
Front Raises 3 x 10 @ 5lbs
Arms: Barbell Bicep Curls 3 x 10 @ 25 lbs (finished with forced reps)
Tricep pushdowns 3 x 12 @ 7

I had a lot more soreness from the leg workout than from this one.

By far probably one of the most effective methods I use for weight loss. I didn't see appreciable results until I started doing cardio this way.

:iagree:
Steve! :D Guess what? I have some new goals going on, with deadlines. Sounds like tons of fun, huh? Anyway, yesterday I got asked to belly dance with a few girls as an opening act for a concert in about 2 weeks, and I pretty much flipped out with elation  Therefore, I MUST practice and get as good as possible before the show! THEN I got a call today about attending a pre-Halloween party at an East Bay winery. I suggested showing up and maybe belly dancing there, and the friend who invited me said she'd mention it to the owner/host. I'm not formally getting paid but will be working for tips in these cases. Hell, a few bucks is a few bucks! Hope you're having a good day!

It's all about your goals and emotionally aligning yourself with said goals.

I suppose my question is sort of on the same lines as others... if I went back to eating maintenance levels... my RMR + exercise calories (estimates of course), would that bring my metabolism back to normal levels for my weight.

An increase in consumption would most certainly raise your rate. To the point where it shoud be given your stats? Maybe. Maybe not.

Most of the vid was Gord doing his thing. I was just the meathead moving around a lot of weight.

I don't know many women who can do pullups.

And how do you have this set up? Do you do everything on one day? Alternate upper and lower? How many days per week are you training?

So a side career in belly dancing, huh.

Sounds exciting. And hot. I demand video.

Nice Win for the Phillies...

Last time they won the series -w as the year you were born? :D Maybe they can pull it out again..

Heck ya! I'm stoked. :)

The phils won the series the year before I was born.

They went to the series in 93, which I attended. Doesn't feel all that long ago which is scarier than all hell!
