Journey, Not A Destination

So for some stupid fucking reason I can't get to the forum from work at the moment.

Update on me:

This weekend was an expensive one. Had to gear up for my Mt. Washington trip. I'm getting pretty excited. Next Wednesday I'll sleep at Gordy's. we'll wake up around 4-5 and head out. He says it's about an 8 hour trip. Once there, we'll set camp and prep up for the start of the hike which will begin sunrise on Friday. We'll hike until late Sunday most likely. I'm not sure if we'll head home Sunday or Monday. If the weather is nice, we'll probably stay until Monday.

The forum was doing the same to me last week adn the week before. Sometimes it would be fine, other times slllllloooower than a snail. It would literally take 5min or more for a page to load. I would do other things while waiting, or just give up in a raging fury..lol

Yup, Sheryl and James gone...hmm..maybe they're off together having some wild fun--without us!! :cuss:

Have fun on your trip with Gordy. I know the tow of you will enjoy sleeping together. :p

Mine wouldn't even load. It would go right to an IE error page. Really annoying to say the least. I could get on any other forum except the other fitness.com forum.

Hmm, that's a though. Bastards!

He assembled the tent we're using just to show me how freaking small this thing is and WOW.... it's going to be tight. I think the butt cold temps though are going to persuade me to snuggle a bit though.... man, woman or beast.

:p

See, I was right. :D

Hey, what's up with your Flyers? They better get it together, or the Wings are gonna be playing the Penguins in the final. :p

Uhhggg, Flyers are pissing me off.

Combo of injuries, not playing up to full potential, and Pittsburgh is good.

I hope the home crowd can turn things around tomorrow!

too bad you both leaned up before the trip.. you might need that extra body fat to keep you insulated.. tell gordy to remove his nipple rings - some metals conduct cold way too much and he could literally freeze his titties off :)

What temp will your sleepin bag keep you toasty til?

Current temp on Mount Washignton - 27.4 degrees with a 32.6 mph wind .
Wind chill 10.6 degrees..

brrrrr

I actually stopped leaning down so much. I could have really pushed some single digit stuff but stopped. I'm probably hovering around 9-10% right now. Figured there's no reason to stress the 'system' beyond that point when I'm more interested in performance at the moment. That in mind, I've been focusing a lot on conditioning work. Tempo runs, biking, and comlexes.

15 degrees F. It was cold and wet when Gordy last climbed and his sleeping bag is rated for 25 degrees and he was hot... so I'm not too concerne on that front. I think I have sufficient gear for the trip.

Haha, I've been checking it daily too... pretty nasty.

I'm just crossing my fingers we get sunshine. Not from the warmth standpoint. I just want to have a view once I'm up there.

Oh yea...

I'm BAAACCKKK!

The site just started working for me the moment after I emailed you Mal.

Guess you're my lucky charm.

he was hot
Gordy is always hot :)

:sigh:

so are you -- :)

ya'll don't need to stinkin' sleeping bags :)

This time of year - and Idon't want to jinx it -unless it's rainy - you shouldnt have a prolbem.

Oooh - just had a thought - i'm sure you have thought of it - but you might want to back an Industrial strength bug repellent - NH is home to this horrific critter known as the black fly - mutant stinking mosquitoes that hurt and leave pretty big welts when they bite.. they tend to come out in the early spring... I don't know if they are in the mountains but a can of bug repellent could come in handy.. and not just organic environmentally friendly bug repellent - you want thehardccore stuff wit DEET

Good call. I had a things in mind I would need... this was one of them... but by the time I actually got around to generating a physical list.. I knew I was forgetting things.

That's been added... thanks.

So I forgot to mention when I updated this morning that I stepped on the scale for the first time in a couple of weeks and saw a low number. One I haven't seen in a very long time.

I was 184 upon waking.

It's sort of hard to tell if I should be happy about this. In certain light I'm looking extremely lean. In others though... not so much. And I have haphazardly been following a program geared for optimizing my body composition.

Probably a little too much cardio and not enough protein and heavy lifting for that.

But I've been, as I stated earlier, prioritizing conditioning above physique.

I haven't been tracking closely enough to really say for sure if I lost muscle or not. I lifted heavy for the first time yesterday in a while and strength is still there, so that's usually a pretty good indicator of muscle maintenance.

Who knows.

I feel good.

This time last year I was up around 205.

Hey Steve wanted to drop by and say hi!!!I also wanted to ask you
since I am preggers and if I ate around 2,000 HEALTHY calories and kept up with my walking can I safely lose or maybe maintain my weight through my pregnantcy because I do not want to go back to where I was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All 4 of my last pregg's I weighed well over 255 and that also made it much more harder in the delivery room I assume because I had a hard time with the pain and moving everything.Any advice I can use,and sorry I haven't been around much,I sort of took time off to deal with all the stress and I noticed myself starting to slip back in to OLD UNHEALTHY habbits and the reasonings people would say to me 'YOUR PREGNANT" you can eat whatever,so not true!!!!TY bunches Tammy

feeling good is a good thing - you can't beat that.. :)

I'm always in conflict with my inner self. Part of me wants to train purely for muscle development and leanness. However, I rarely, rarely do that. I always enjoy food too much and love being an athlete.

So I blend the two and I'm happy with the end-product, truthfully. I sometimes wonder what I could achieve if I applied myself 100% to physique training.

But life is all about choices and as long as I'm happy... I'm aloud to second guess.

Wow, congrats Tammy! I didn't realize you were pregnant.

Honestly, IMO, weight loss is not something one should strive for while pregnant. It just isn't. In fact, you shoudl be taking in more calories than you normally would for maintenance. I've always gone with the 500 additional calories figure.

Of course it's not a to let yourself go, as you state. You can still make smart food choices. But it's not a time to be worrying about losing weight... that's for certain.

Your lovely wife would neve rhave married you... your site wouldn't be as far along as it is... you wouldn't have hordes of people seeking your wisdom... you wouldn't be the you that you currently are.

::cheeseball moment over::

I'm all about second guessing.... you can once in a while -I'll smack ya when you start to third guess..

Your choices have gotten you to where you are right now and from where my fat ass is sitting - you're in a pretty good place...

Did you watch gladiator last night, Steve?
Its better this season.

I watched half of it than switched over to House. The first half was pretty cool. My 3year old niece loves gladiator. When I switched over to House my niece went in the other room to continue watching it by herself.
