Journey, Not A Destination

I wanna be you sometimes...

you're such a web-lebrity or something.. probably a celebrity in real life...

and I know you're good at what you do so i don't know why it suprises me that peoplewould seek you out -- but I was that woman 2 years ago - it never would have occurred to me to email a stranger for assitance... so I think it's cool that you are that approachable that it is an option for people..

I'm not saying it right... but -anyhow -two thumbs up an a toe up too from me today..

Thanks again. :)

There were a few local women I've helped and it spread from there. That's how I got into the whole obesity thing and fell in love with it. Do a good job with a few clients and watch your business grow.

Oh yea, and definitely not a celebrity. I'm as low key as they get.

No doubt it's cool... it feels great. Like a million lbs have been lifted off my shoulders.

Man, I couldn't get on here all day.

T

I've thought about doing some free seminars.

a) I love conversing and educating on the subject

b) It's a great way to convince people you have a valuable service they can use

So I think that's a great idea.

Keep most posted on what becomes of this. What's the cert you're after?
Its just Personal Training one thats fairly well known in this country, pretty much the one that all Personal Trainers have. It goes over Food, and training etc, and then you go on and do other courses to specialize in what you want. Ive asked about to make sure im getting the right thing (dont want to get stuck with some cereal box qualifications), and apparently this course is one of the best.

Agreed on the free seminars points, it also advertises the personal training to a point and gets your name out there.

As long as the cert is credible in the eyes of those around, including clients and gyms... that's all that really matters. No cert, I don't care how good it is, prepares you to be a trainer. That takes a lot of experience and further education through reading and research. You've got your personal experience and success to carry you into the field. Get the cert and build up your experience. I think you'll do well, assuming you like it.

Wow, so the forum was up and running. It must have been something local although I was able to get on all my other forums. Strange.

Off to the gym.

Just got another new client today from the guy I'm training right now. She emailed me from the website and said, "Do to me what you did to Peter."

lol

Amazingly, she is actually a member at Gordy's gym.

you are a webulebrity... :) you're famous -and not even infamous...

Or just a reallygood reputation or something..

naw couldn't be that...

Firstly, that post you made in your diary was amazing.... I'm so proud of and happy for you! You could feel the sense of accomplishment so much that it even motivated me! lol.

Thank you!! :)

Secondly, I'm not familiar with 'program' you provided a link to. I'll check it out later today.

Is that the sole thing you've been basing your training on? Namely, what have you been doing in total?

I began with the Couch - 5K program, but I have since 'graduated' from it. :) I was on active.com, and I was researching different articles and such. That site came up as a great source of training, so I checked it out. It seems pretty doable!

I find it interesting that you don't love running but you love success. I mean I hate running. Even if I could get successful at it, which I think is possible if I trained for it, I wouldn't do it b/c of how much I despise it, lol.

But with weights, I absolutely love them. And hitting new records or accomplishing new lifts, the stuff that is deemed success in that sport, I love too.

So why pick running over weights or a particular sport or anything else?

Definitely no right or wrong... just curious is all.

I chose running, because it is free! :D

I don't have / can't really afford a gym membership, so I needed to find something I could do from anywhere. I do have free weights and such, and I do reps with those, but I don't feel like that would be enough for me. I do some of the Biggest Loser DVDs as well, and occasionally I get on our elliptical.

I think what also drew me to it is that it is something I have never been able to. I set out to prove to myself that I could!

Well it's all very cool. The program you're doing seems pretty good. I have some resources for distance running I'll send your way in a bit once I dig them up.

Does your program contain any sprint work? Or maybe tempo runs, intervals, fartleks, etc?

Very cool of you! I look forward to reading them! :D

Why actually, yes it does! There are tempo runs, minute paced runs, intervals, casual runs, and longer than normal distances.

What are fartleks?

Here are a few resources I've seen over the years with good info. I haven't kept on top of them but I'm sure they're still good:

I've got some more on my other computer. I'll check tomorrow... if I forget, remind me.

Perfect!

Wow.... I just woke up, haha.

That's the latest I've slept in a looonnnnggg time. And I went to bed early too, lol.

I decided to stay home today as yesterday was a terribly stressful day at work.

Bring on the weekend.

And a shit ton of rain today.

Hey Steve, I've finished Starting strength(2nd) and have memorized/learned just about everything major in it. Do You think I should buy practical programing soon?

What else can I expect to learn from that book that I didn't already learn in this book?

Practical Programming is a necessity.

A perfect supplement to SS and it's much, much better IMO.

It goes into periodization fantastically.

Cool, I'll be getting it when I get the cash than. Haha - it will be at least the third book I have bought because of your recommendation.

I've got a lot more.

But really digest PP, it's one of the best. It's not real hard reading... just very logical and applicable.
