Trust me, so do I. This is a very temporary thing... it will be over next Friday. Benefits outweigh the goodness of carbs, at least in the short term.
Yea I did. It's tough. I tried some harder stuff than that too.... something known as the crossfit challenge. I just wanted to see if I could do it. I'd never train like that as it's not conducive to my goals.
That's just it. That sort of training is known as 'metabolic training.' It's great for expending calories. Not so great for building/maintaining muscle. For the goals that I have, it's just much more conducive to train for strength and size and let the diet and conservative amounts of cardio take care of the deficit.
Oh yea.... if I was carrying around a good bit of fat.... trust me, I'd be throwing in some metabolic work. It probably wouldn't be all that I did.... but my training would certainly contain some.
That's a butt load!
Just be careful as you get leaner.... you don't want to start catabolizing a ton of muscle. Without adequate recovery, especially in the face of a caloric deficit, this is a very real potential.
You'll know b/c your strength will diminish or plateau... that's always a surefire sign.
yea, I think Im up to about 2000-2500 calories. I need to buy some protein mix to take.
and yea its a butt load.. but then again I dont take the easy route ever, I like the pain it all brings, and the struggle of it!
Yea, im working on that it comes out to about 300 grams of protien which is a lot... but im tryingYea, for sure. With that sort of volume of training on a deficit, aminos floating around the bloodstream is always a good thing. Your body will preferentially pull the needed aminos from your bloodstream before it does from existing stores (muscle).
I'd be shooting for 1-1.5 grams per pound of lean body mass.
I know you hate preachers.... and I promise that's not what I'm trying to do. Realize before I say what I'm about to say that I admire your attitude and success to date.
And I'm sure what you're dong is going to work right now considering what you got going on physically.
Just be careful with this mentality. You'll have to modify it a bit once you start getting closer and closer to that ideal body, which I'm sure you will. As this occurs, more often than not, less is more. That's not to say you don't have to work hard.... just the opposite in fact. But you DO have to start being more economical with your training. Just something to keep in mind as you progress.

I totally understand, im using the training now to just shred up some fat and gain endurance and muscle stamina, even more then what I have already gained.. Once I get closer to my ideal body I am going to work on increasing strength and my overall power. and muscle growth. I just want to hit my goal with out any pills basically naturally.. once i get there then i dont mind going down some avenues for muscle growth
Tell me about it!
I'm knocking back 330ish grams per day at the moment!
Glad to hear that. I've never taken anything except whey. I fooled around with creatine for a bit but nothing serious. You certainly don't need any of that stuff.
But even when you are still cutting fat, it will become important to modify to more of a traditional strength training approach. Reason being muscle loss. You are doing this to look and feel good. Losing muscle is not conducive to either of those factors.
So I'm not so much talking about when you are ready to start bulking up. I'm more talking about the later stages of this cut you are currently on.
Last night i tried at those SHELCS....and man for some reason im pretty damn sore from doing them!
I also thought planks would be no problem for a minute....ha ha lets just say i wanted to shoot myself by 45 seconds...
thanks again for the help with the routine. Once summer break hits, i will be in full swing. .
Have you seen good results from anyone using a bowflex? I ask because my parents just bought one and im thinking about using it this summer. They got the Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE and it looks like i can do most of my routine on there....
For me it becomes a mind game after 60 seconds.
