Journey, Not A Destination

I am definitely envious of those tight knit relationships with the friends and especially the ones from grade school. I don't have any friends from grade school left, I moved outta state at 14 (only 30 mins away) with my mom and left them all. The one that I reconnected with last year burned me and burned me badly! She also is not mature enough to even see the wrong in her actions and I'm not dumb enough to put myself in those types of situations again! I do have 2 great friends from high school, but one is 3 hours away and the other is 4.5 hrs away. Needless to say I rarely see them.

it's nice having a friendship that lasts that long - my best friend in the entire world - was my best friend since kindergarden... my second best was there since 1st grade... both are now dead... (one on 9/11 the other march 2, 2003) so really appreciate them while you got 'em...because you never know...

Ok that was morbid..

so sorry Mal...:( It's nice that you could be friends for so long though :)

“The great danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.”

Set your sites high people. Think big. Focus on your accomplishments. Remember, you can only hit what you aim at.

I like that quote - there's a similar one I think from the cheesey movie Now Voyager - Shoot for the moon and even if you miss you'll land among the stars (or something like that.. )

I have one friend from 4th grade who I still consider one of my best friends because when we hang out, it's like no time has passed.
Something funny happened a couple of years ago:
When I was 9, I moved from southern cali to northern cali with my mom, and I moved back to Socal when I was 18 for my Granna.
One day I was at the drug store, and recognized my best friend from 3rd grade! It was pretty cool :)

Look what you started Steve!

I know, trust me Mal. I lost 3 of my closest friends in the span of 2 years in car wrecks. Though it was the hardest time of my life so far, it was also the most eye-opening. I live my life through them really. Once you really understand the fragility of life, at least for me, it makes me want to squeeze it for all the juice its got.

Which I am. :)

oohh we got a peak into the abyss otherwise known as steve. :p hugs steve. Oh and mow mow says 'Mow!' which means "its ok!! you and your friends will be friends forever!" in kitty language--she is such an evesdropper.

I have 2 cats too. Their names are Frank and Bob. :p

lol! I love those names for kitties :) I have Mow Mow, and Stew Ped (Stew lives with my mom in CO, but she is mine) Mow was given to me right before a really hard time in my life, and this may be a really sappy thing to say, but I was lucky to have to because she is a goofball cat that fits my goofball personality, and having her helped through soo much. Pets are sooo important IMO.

ya'll packed for your weekend adventure?

I don't remembe when you are leaving but i wanted to get in a travel safe, travel fun, have a great time meeting up with your pals and at the arnold expo and come home safely with presents :)

Happy Thursday to you

2 Quotes of the Day

"Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising, which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires...courage."

"Happiness is to be found along the way, not at the end of the road, for then the journey is over and it is too late. Today, this hour, this minute is the day, the hour, the minute for each of us to sense the fact that life is good, with all of its trials and troubles, and perhaps more interesting because of them."

I like that one especially. Thanks for posting these. :)

yay a two-fer...

Im reading way too much into the first one - the courage part is absolutely true but as you've found on this forum especially that the path that some people do choose is not always the correct one - no matter what they believe and they do need a critic to tell them otherwise...

the second quote I love and I've read before - i just don't remember where from - but it's absolutely true... and i find myself repeating a variation of it when i hear people say that whenthey get to their goal they will be happy - the tough part is being happy now...

On the first one, I think you have to think more along the lines of, the thought of trying to live a more healthy lifestyle is good, and there are always going to be people trying to knock you down. There are always going to be people that don't approve of what you do, no matter what your choice is. The idea is, live life for you. Without your own happiness, what do you really have?

Nice car Steve.
