Weigh #5

Weight: 225.8 (-2.8lbs!)
Total Weight Loss: 19lbs :)

Another good week on the scale and I am so happy to be making my way out of the 220's. Even though I have a long way to go, I'm definitely starting to see some body changes, especially in my clothes. Even better, I feel really good and my endurance / fitness have increased.

Well, I didn't make it to the 5K on Saturday. I decided Friday night that I pushed myself hard all week and needed a day to sleep in a little (would have to get up around 545 to go to the 5K). I still went to the gym for BodyCombat, but waiting until the afternoon.

Yesterday (Sunday) I tried my hand at a Power Yogu Fusion class. It was fun, but very hard at my current weight (my belly really gets in the way, lol). But I tried super hard and did a decent job. I got up this morning for a little cardio and a shoulder workout. Tomorrow is going to be a rest day (haven't had one since last Tuesday!) and then I am going to take the 6AM Wednesday BodyCombat class, followed by a few extra back exercises.

Fingers crossed that I hit 224.6 this week, which is my 20 pound mark :)

Great job on the weight loss. You will be hitting goal before you know it!!It is nice when you see changes in the body - makes it all worth while. My fingers are crossed for you!!

I woke up at 5:30 this morning and made it to the 6AM BodyCombat class. The instructor put together a pretty hard leg workout with 4 straight tracks of squats, lunges, legs, legs, legs! It was hard, but I survived and feel really good!

I was hoping to see a difference on the scale this morning (only 1 pound away from -20lbs) but unfortunately (even after my sweat-fest in class) I was at 227.0... which is up 1.2lbs. Sigh. I bitched about it for a few minutes, but I am fine now and ready to make my way out of the 220's.

The diet portion is going really well! I bought a new cookbook that has a ton of great recipes. My wife and I have been very impressed by all of them so far, and they are very low-cal.

Mentally, I'm starting to get cravings throughout the day and especially after dinner. If thoughts caused you to gain weight, I would weigh 500 pounds, lol. I haven't given into any cravings, nor do I plan to, but I want them to go away. We have our cheat meal tomorrow night and I'm hoping that will put an end to them for a few days.

Tomorrow I am going to do a combination back and leg day (since I missed my back day today for my class). Usually for leg day I do 35 minutes on the treadmill, taking the incline up to 15 and then slowly back down to 1; followed by 3 different leg lifting exercises. I'll have to get to the gym a little early in order to fit in a few back exercises.

Keep at it. The weight will drop especially with the diet and exercise. I know about the cravings- this past few have been brutal. I don't know if it is the nicer weather we are having here or what it is. I didn't give in either- told myself " You are just going to have to be hungry"-lol. It worked and I am better now- got through it. You will too. What is the cookbook called? I am always looking for some new recipes to whip up.

You are working hard and eating right- the weight drop will come. Keep fighting the fight!

Thanks Cowboy - I will definitely keep fighting this fight for the rest of my life! No more weight / health issues for me (at least ones I can control).

I had a pretty good day yesterday. We didn't do much in the evening and I went to bed pretty early... like 930! But don't forget, I got up at 530am to do BodyCombat so I was TIRED! I kept falling alseep during American Idol.

I decided to make today my second rest day of the week. Probably not the best idea since it is also my cheat day, but I think I'll be fine. I will wake up early tomorrow and hit the gym for my back / leg combo, then I'm taking a 2 hour BodyPump / BodyCombat combination class on Saturday morning, and thinking about going for an outside run on Sunday morning. The weather was pretty chilly last week and I haven't been able to run outside yet... and I HATE running on the treadmill (aka the dreadmill). I'm excited / nervous to see how long and far I can run.

I plan to do a mini weigh-in tomorrow after the gym. Hopefully the scale will be moving down again - which it usually does after my cheat meal. I decided to finally start recording all of my food and calories. I need to make sure I'm not eating too little during the day! I am aiming for 1800-2000 per day and I know I often fall short.

Calories:

Hey dw - I can't believe how quickly you are blasting away the weight. I wouldn't worry about the minor uptick - it's probably all that leg work!

Have a great workout tomorrow morning.

Happy Friday!!!

After an insane cheat meal yesterday, my weight started to come back down. Funny how that works...

I think the increased calories yesterday really influenced my workout this morning. First of all, I had a ton of energy for 6AM! I was running faster than before and lifting heavier than before. It was awesome! Second, I mentally knew I needed to work those extra calories off, so I pushed myself harder.

I did HIIT for 25 minutes on the treadmill (and did 9.0MPH for my last interval!). Then I did 2 back exercises and 2 leg exercises.

Like I said yesterday, I didn't go to the gym yesterday - but I did end up taking two walks! So hey, I got a little cardio in! Tomorrow is the BodyCombat / BodyPump 2 hour combination class. I'm kinda nervous!! It is going to be killer! But, I'm super excited to see the scale afterwards :)

The fam and I are going for a little day trip to Greenville, NC on Sunday to visit my Alma Mater: East Carolina University (Go Pirates!). Should be fun!! We are going to get some family pics done while we are there, so hopefully those will turn out well. I hate having my picture taken, but I'm going to do it.

Have a nice weekend everyone!

You are hitting it hardcore. Good Job!! Funny how you can eat like a horse and still lose weight- weird-lol. Your workouts sound insane. Any muscle aches and pains after? Have fun in Greenville!!

We had pizza hut for our cheat meal yesterday so we could actually use the nutritional info to figure out how many calories we actually had. In total, I think we ate around 2000 for dinner (which isn't hard to do, surprisingly). However, I always eat really light during the day when I have a cheat meal, so my total calories really were only at maintenance level for the day...

At this point in my workouts, I really don't get too sore anymore. At the beginning it was horrible, but now it's more of a dull lingering soreness. Every once and a while, my legs really get REALLY sore after a hard leg day. But that is probably because I can lift really heavy with my legs, but not so much with my upper body.

Luckily, I haven't hurt myself yet and I try to be careful with how much I lift (i'm still pretty weak compared to most people). I nearly decapitated myself on the bench press in my third week at the gym, so I've stayed away from that for a while. :willy_nilly:

My new weight as of Saturday: 223.8 :)

However, I seem to be having a scale struggle this week since it said 227 this morning, sigh...

Well, some bad news. I hurt my back on Sunday (no idea how) and had to go to urgent care yesterday. They gave me some meds and I've been laying in bed with a heating pad for 2 days. No exercise for a few days... I'm trying to stay 100% on my diet since the exercise is gone, but the scale is still pretty mad at me.

We were out of town on Sunday so I didn't make it to the gym, but did go for two walks before the back pain started. I had my combination Combat / Pump class on Saturday and it was KILLER!!! Two hours of HARD HARD work, but we felt so good afterwards.

That's all for today, happy losing everyone!

Oh man, that is too bad. I hate when I am hurt. Wrecks the whole plan for me. Hard to run with a bad back- run like Quasimoto-lol. Take it easy and let it heal. Keep moving though- they say to keep some form of activitiy so the back doesn't get worse. I know that is easier said than done- but do what you can- I am sure you will-lol. Nice job on the Saturday weight. I am sure the weight gain is temporary so don't worry about it. Keep fighting the fight!

I understand what your going through DW... I spent last Wed night in the ER trying to deal with the pain in my back also. Trying to keep with the diet, and pain killers..... Hope all goes well for you!

Weight: 223.4 :)

Well, I finally made it back to work today. The back is feeling much better and I actually managed to LOSE weight during my break from the gym. I guess it helps that I had some stomach issues as well which made it hard to eat. I am going to go for a little walk today during my lunch break to see how my back handles it, and then may take an easy gym day tomorrow.

I'm very happy about the scale. I am now at 21.2 pounds lost! Only 8.8 pounds until my next milestone which is 214.6 (-30lbs and hopefully a smaller pants size!)

My wife is also doing amazingly well. She is down -26lbs!! that's 47 pounds between the two of us in 6 & 1/2 weeks :)

Great job on the weight loss for both of you!! It is nice to see the scale go down after all the hard work you put in- isn't it? It is great your wife is losing as fast as she is - normally men lose faster than women - more muscle mass. My wife gets frustrated that she doesn't lose like I do but she has come a long way since she started too - I just have to point that out to her-lol. Good to see your back is better.

I made it back to the gym yesterday for the first time in a week. My back felt great the entire workout so I'm glad I waited a full week before going back... even though the weight killed me! I ended up doing 30 minutes of cardio followed by 5-6 weight lifting exercises. It was a hard workout, I felt like my endurance flew out the window over the past week. I'm headed back to BodyCombat today, so hopefully that will go well!

After the gym yesterday, the scale said 220.6 (in the middle of the day, no less!)! I'm so close to the teens I can almost taste them. In hind-sight, I'm really surprised how fast I made it through the 20's. It's awesome to me that I only have 20 more pounds until I'm in the 100's. FINALLY! 20 more pounds doesn't seem like an impossible task... but when I started at 245 it did feel impossible.

I'm really proud that I didn't use my back injury as an excuse to sit around the house eating all day. In fact, I'm looking at a 4 pound weight loss this week which is more than I've had in a while. I told my wife yesterday that I feel healthy. I feel like, no matter what the scale says, we make a huge effort everyday to eat healthy and stay fit. I know if we keep doing that, the scale will go down. In the past, I used to obsess about the scale. It was the number 1 thing I thought about while losing weight - just trying to get that number to go down. Now, my number 1 goal is health. Eating the right foods, enjoying food, staying active, etc... Maybe this is the key to keeping the weight off :)

I'm having a great week so far. The gym is going really well - I did BodyCombat yesterday and I'm giong to BodyPump tonight with my wife. I went running on a greenway near our house on Sunday and did 3 miles!!! I was so proud!

Food is going really well. I'm finding that I have to push myself to eat more, because my initial tendency is to eat less... or even forget to eat. When did I start doing that! I used to count down the minutes and seconds to my next meal! lol.

We had mini-meatloafs for dinner last night, along with some mac-n-cheese (with some healthy substitutions). It was YUMM-O. I'm currently sitting at work eating a bowl of greek yogurt with honey. Not my favorite snack (BITTER, but the honey helps) but I need the protein before my BodyPump class tonight.

I'm still so excited about the scale. I CAN NOT believe I lost 5 pounds this week (week 7) and I am now down 26 pounds :). Especially when I layed in bed from Sunday - Friday because of my back.

I can do this - and people are starting to notice my weight-loss, which is always nice. I even wore my pair of size 36 jeans the other day, and they fit great!

Great job on the weight loss. It is nice when the all the hard work pays off in a drop on the scale and a drop in the pants size-lol. The greek yogurt does taste better with the honey- you are right. Great snack - low in calories and high in protein, it is bitter though. Keep up the good work!!
