I'm glad we don't "celebrate" thanksgiving. I don't get it really, but that doesn't matter.
Doesn't really have much to do with its history, really, it's more about families getting together to overeat, get drunk, and listen to Uncle Ignorant and Aunt Spite explain what's wrong with the world, even though they've never left the state they were born in. I enjoy the first two parts, walk away for the third part.

I struggle over the holidays because of all the food in general, snacks and meals alike. My family are big foodies and love to cook, bake, and pot luck everything so I started a holiday challenge from Halloween to Thanksgiving, then I plan on another one from Thanksgiving to Christmas. I grew up with holidays and food being tied together so I need to prepare myself for the assault on my willpower in the upcoming weeks.

Hi Jen,

Holidays are always hard. I have been really good over holidays and really bad-lol. The thing I seem to concentrate on is the years I was really bad and how I felt afterwards. Some holidays I was literally sick for a week afterwards. I know this past Thanksgiving I was good. Really tried to watch my portion sizes to make sure I wasn't overdoing. I did overdo on the pie but not too much. Felt much better than I have in past Thanksgivings.

I think the trick is to let yourself have something but not everything. Pick your favorite thing out of the kids Halloween candy ( well let them have their favorites first-lol) and have one or two of that item. If the kids are done with it- donate it to food bank or a charity if there is enough. If there isn't throw it out. Take the temptation out of the house.

Christmas is always hard too. Lots of baked goodies around. One thing I can give up is my wife's butter tarts. They are like little pie shape pieces of heaven- hehe. I will allow myself one or two max and only on Christmas Day. I just can't allow myself to get into a feeding frenzy anymore. Believe me there have been Chrismas' where I didn't have one thing out of the baking pile- not ONE. Did I suffer? Yeah I guess I did but it was worth it ultimately.

I have always been an all or nothing eater. I don't think I learned to eat properly and in proper portions when I was little. So my eating habits were basically eat till I couldn't eat anymore. When I got older I realized I couldn't eat just one so I didn't cheat at all in my diets. It was after I lost what I needed to lose that I would slowly start up the old habits.

With maintenance now I am concentrating on eating in normal portions and if I want to indulge I have one of whatever it is and that is enough. I wish there was an easier way but that works for me. Probably not everyone's cup of tea but I got to do what I got to do.

Thanks, guy!! I appreciate all the comments! I am going to try my hardest during the holidays to not overeat. I need to think of it as 3 days(Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas) and not two and a half months to stuff my face. I usually say f*ck it after Halloween and just eat whatever the hell I want. Not this year though! I'll allow myself a cheat day of some sort on those 3 days, but I'm not falling off the wagon for months this time. *pinky promise*

Now with that being said.... I would really like to dive head first into a pint of ice cream and then wash it down with a few drinks. Why? We have a house full of teenage girls. Need I say more? I don't think so. haha!

HELP!!!!!

:smilielol5:

Well, I think I've recovered from the weekend. ...maybe. lol!

My calories are ok today, but I skipped a meal this morning. I ended up eating breakfast late, so I wasn't really ready for lunch at noon like usual. I'll have a good snack later to make up the calories.

I still have to get on the treadmill. I was not feeling like it earlier, so I put it off. Now I really don't want to do it, but I have to. :(

In better news... My brother is here for the week. So that's nice. I also worked on the drawing for Chef's mom last night(she's giving it to someone as a gift). I have most of the face done, just working on the hair now. I like beards, but I don't like drawing them. :p So much detail. I think it looks good so far though.

Ok......off to the treadmill!

I did the treadmill for 40 minutes last night. My food intake was good yesterday.

I need to get something for breakfast still. Hopefully eating something takes care of this nasty heartburn I woke up with this morning. I rarely get heartburn anymore, and it usually only happens after I have a cheat day and drink Pepsi. I didn't do that last night, so I don't what caused it.

On a good note: I noticed today when I was coming back inside from dropping the kids off at school that my pants didn't feel as tight. I had to hike them up because they were sliding down. :hurray:

Hi Jen - so pleased to see you still around :) it's been ages since I was last here (and committing to posting!) so hoping I can rely on everyone's support <3 You look like you're doing great!

Sliding pants are a good thing- well unless they slide down to your ankles in the grocery store-lol. Funny my wife has lost over 60 pounds in the last 4 months or so. She has gone from a size 18 to a size 10. She looks great - not that I didn't think she looked great before. The important thing is how she feels. She has had to buy new clothes just about every couple of weeks. It is funny for me because she doesn't like shopping-haha.

Clothes are a great indicator of weight loss. Like I said in my diary - I don't use the scale anymore - I can tell by my clothes.

Great job on the treadmill!! Oh and the sliding pants!

Thanks, everyone. Nice to see you back, Sunflower!!! Cowboy, I hate shopping for clothes too ! Mostly I just hate spending money on them. There are other things I'd rather spend it on. lol!

Today was a good day. My calories are good so far. The only other thing I'm planning on having tonight is a couple pieces of dark chocolate. So I should be fine.

Going to be a busy day tomorrow!

Thanks, Brawny!

Today has been busy. I went out to lunch with my Brother and mom this afternoon. Did not do the best there, but wasn't horrible. Then we went out to my aunt and uncle's house to visit for a while, and now we're going to my mom's for dinner in a little bit. My brother wanted pizza, so I'm going to have to control myself with that. I'm super hungry too, so it won't be easy. haha!

Treadmill tomorrow. I didn't have time today, and we'll be getting back late tonight.

I hope everyone is doing well!! :)

Aww, I like when your pants slide down.

Aww, I like when your pants slide down.
We're all aware that you like that. :p

I'm about to go hop on the treadmill. Well, I'm not hopping on it. I'll be walking. :p I almost biff on there every single time as it is. Balancing is not high on my list of skills apparently.

Food is good so far today!

I missed the sliding pants! That's a great sign Jen. Now......about the heartburn in the morning.........It isn't morning sickness is it? :D
