Thanks, Hana!!
Well I'm back at my mom's. I was able to leave after we got back yesterday and go home and pick up a few things, including my laptop. Surgery did not go as planned. She did NOT get the gastric bypass. Chef and I were in the cafeteria and got paged about 45 minutes after she went into surgery. They took us back into a little room(which scared the shit outta me), and the surgeon came in to inform us that he had found a very large mass on her ovary, like the size of a grapefuit. He suggested that her ovary with the mass, and the tube on that side be removed. He wanted to call in a gynecologist to do that. Both the bariatric surgeon and gynecologist were fairly certain that the mass was benign, but they wanted to have it tested just in case. The bariatric surgeon did not want to go forward with the bypass because if it did turn out to be cancerous(very small chance), having a nutrition depleting surgery like that would not go well with fighting cancer. I completely agreed with that and consented. If it does turn out to be benign, she can just reschedule her gastric bypass. She'll of course have to start the whole two week diet process over again, but that's waaay better than cancer! We should find that out early next week.
Part of the surgery that did go as planned though was she had her gallbladder removed. So she's down a few parts after this surgery. We told her to look on the bright side... a gallbladder, ovary, and big mass had to weigh at least a few lbs, so she at least lost a little bit of weight. lol! Aaaaanyway... she's home, sore, and sleeping a lot.
When I was in the hospital in May I was restricted to the "heart healthy" menu, so the food I had was kinda blah. I have to say the regular food in the cafeteria was pretty damn good. I ate more than I should have, not too horrible though. I did try to control myself and ate around maintenance, but I did have a couple things that were not needed... like pie. lol! Hopefully any water weight will be gone for my weigh-in on Monday. One thing to my advantage is mom thought she wouldn't be able to eat after surgery, and she's been on a special diet for two weeks, so there isn't much to eat here. I picked up a few things at the store last night, but the temptations here are non-existent. Sticking to my diet won't be hard.
I forgot to mention I did take pics earlier this month, so I have a comparison pic from October to November. There isn't much change, since there's only like an 8 lb difference. I'm hoping December's pic shows a bigger one. I said I'd be happy with any amount of change though, even if I had to squint, and I think can see some. The shirt was definitely not as uncomfortably tight as it was before. Progress!
Edit to add... I did keep up with my drawing challenge. I'll add those pics later.
