Jenn's Diary

Hiya Jenn!! Sorry the little one is feeling ill - strep, yuck! I used to get that a lot when I was younger. Yay for srping!! :D

Does anyone else find that February seems to be the month when you're New Years Resolutions, all your good intentions, go flying out the window?

I started the 2lbs a week in Feb Challenge, with high hopes of exceeding 8 lbs for Feb. Started at 174, next weigh-in I was 170:D . I was so excited. Then TOM came, and I can't seem to get back on track. :( The last two weigh-ins have been 170 again. I did see 169 briefly over the weekend, but that too has gone out the window. I'd like to blame it on Feb and the winter blahs, but really I'm the only shovelling food in my mouth.

Trying to get my "stuff" together. Would love to see that 169.5 again for tomorrows "Hottie" weigh-in. Don't think I'll see it though. :( Not getting my water today. Mostly because I buggered up my back again this morning, and am in constant pain. I did make it to work, and the boy went ot daycare. He seems to be doing better, the swelling has gone down. :)

Can't wait for the weekend. Hoping to get skating, if we are all feeling up to it. But also can't wait, because work is getting me down. Oh how I long for spring..... fresh air........ sun shine.

Breakfast: fibre first (.5c), wheat bran (.25c), 2% milk (.5c), green tea - 3.5pts;
Lunch: tuna - 2pts;
Supper: not totally sure. Thinking either fajita-less fagitas or toasted westerns. With hubby working nights, I can get away with breakfast for dinner.;)

Hope everyone else is staying motivated and losing....... I'm not. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

TTFN:eek:

It's amazing how much TOM sets back progress.

Every time TOM comes or I hit a plateau and saps my motivation I give it 2 weeks. I say that if I really work hard for the 2 weeks and don't see any results I'll give up. But what do you know - two weeks always comes and goes and by the end there is SOME measure of progress again.

Or at least I'm out of my funk and feel better by the end of the two weeks :)

Hi there! Sounds like you've had a lot going on in the time I was away. Haha It's good to hear your little boy is getting better. Poor little thing!
I know how frustrating Feb can be... it's when your zeal starts to wear off. You start out all gung-ho in January and then by the time February nears an end, the struggle is just becoming a pain in the ass. I'm struggling with that myself right now. So, know that you aren't alone. :) Keep monitoring your calories - it will probably make you feel less ashamed because you may come to see that you're still staying low enough not to gain weight. On the other hand, you may see that you really are eating too much and it will give you a frame of reference so you know just how much to cut down by.

TGIF

What a week, and all that shit combined with no loss sucks! Actually .5 gain since last friday.

I feel like I need to hit reset. I need to refocus, find a new plan, find something to do. Planning on skating Sunday this weekend, Saturday will be too cold for the little one. Would really like to get some skiing in, but haven't be able to get there yet. I feel frustrated, bloated and fat. February is proving to be a bad month. Lost 4lbs early on, but nothing in 3weeks.

I not giving up.

Sounds so much like me. I lost weight and then nothing for 3-4 weeks. Now I've been at 157.x for two days in a row. I just hope it doesn't jump back up.

Had a bit of a jump today. Up to 171. I'm thinking it's because of the weight watchers. I had asked Leigh P. before about weight loss startegies, and she doesn't recommend WW as seems more of a starvation plan. Looking back on my caloric intake on WW, it was always too low. So I think it has srcewed up the metabolism.

So new strategy.... we'll see how it goes. I'm going to try and monitor my calories. Maybe hang around 1500/day. I had looked it up before and 1200-1500 will help me lose weight. I just need to learn how to space it out throught the day.

My mom was showing me a website . It looks interesting, but now all the links were working. I'll check it out later. I have heard milk helps in weight loss and I definitely haven't been drinking a lot lately. This should help get the calories up as well.

Looking forward to go weigh-ins this week. ;)

Feeling crappy today.

Not a relaxing weekend at all. Very tired, and bloated. Up to 171 now. I do know that part of that problem is water intake, as I haven't been drinking anywhere near the amount that I normally do. My mom and aunt were talking about TOPS. I guess my aunt is a member in the next town over. She emailed me this morning and told me to check out Spark People. So I finally have. I know Amy had suggested it when I first came on here, but have never had time. Well I joined, and that's as far as I have gotten. We'll see how it goes.

Yesterday was a bad binge day. I was hooked on peanut butter and was actually eating it by the spoonful. BAD BAD BAD!

I've just chalked February up to being a bad month. I'm not going to fall completely off the wagon for this month. But will definitely get my butt in gear for March. I hope to start exercising again.

Scrapping WW and sticking with calorie counting. Breakfast was 340, lunch was 260. Now sure what we have having for supper tonight. Thinking whole wheat spaghetti and lean meatballs. Should be to bad calorie wise. Aiming for 1200 to 1500 daily.

What is an appropiate amount of fat, protein, fibre, and sodium that one should consume in a day?

I'm not sure of your exact details, but I know when I was on the lower end of the 1200-1500 cals, nothing was happening! My weight was not budging. Since I increased to 1500-1600 cals/day, I am actually seeing a loss. NOt sure, but I think I was eating too few calories.

Sparkpeople.com recommends this for my goals

Your Daily Goal:
Calories 1200 - 1550 Carbs 135 - 252 Fat27 - 60 Protein 30 - 136 Fiber 25-35

Sorry to hear that you're feeling so frustrated. It's upsetting to get caught in a rut. Remember that we're all in this together, so we all understand one another's frustrations and are here to help. Just ignore yesterday for now. Stick a pin in it and put it aside. Think of today as a brand new day to make healthy choices!

Thanks for the pep talk guys. It's appreciated. Feeling 75% better today. Pretty tired. Have Preformance Review today at work. Went fairly well, no compliants.

I thought I had calculated 1465 cals for yesterday and was very happy. But when I was adding everything in from yesterday on Spark, I calculated over 1600cal - Oops! Today should be better. It's kind of fun, adding in your own food. I don't feel bloated or crappy today. So I think it is already helping. I have to get cardio in tonight. Have to burn 216cal today. No problem, I can easily do that with sit-ups or playing with my son.

It's giving me new outlook and boosting my confidence again.

So no reflects this month. I know Feb was bad and I don't want to dwell on it. Kick the month out the window, and be done with it.

I have managed to maintain the 170. A lot better then when I started 01/01/07 @ 185. I took my month measurements this morning, and was dumb-founded at the 6.5 inch loss. Then it dawned on me, I've always been measuring at night. So the total loss of 13.5 inches isn't that accurate. But I've learned my lesson and will measure in the mornings from now on. Anyhow, I thinking I did better on my calories last night, will be the offical calculations on Spark. Should be under 1500.

I finnaly got back to exercising last night. 200 sit-ups, 20 wall push ups, 10 floor push-ups, and 15 tricep dips. I also did a 1/2hr of beginner pilates. So I did well. However, I wanted to get up early this morning and workout - didn't happen. Hit snooze from 6:05 to 7:00am.

Anyone else using/posting on Spark? What is you name? Mine is the same as here, if you want to drop by. Still trying to figure out navigating the posts. Shouldn't be so difficult, but I guess I'm just use to here.

Have a happy hump day!

Hiya Jenn! Yay for getting that exercise in yesterday!! Oops on the snooze button - I'm prone to that as well. When I was still in school, my mom always threated to tape a push pin to it in the night. What a shock that would be!

I love Spark! Though I havn't taken the time to create a page on there. The forum setup on there just confuses me...lol.

Have a great day!! :D:D

I'm using spark people's nutrition and fitness input area, but I'm not accessing the forums at all. Too much here to keep me occupied to try going there as well! However, I am photocrazed there also!

I see you are in insurance in Canada too. I was licensed in L&H and P&C for at least 5 years in Minnesota and VA until I decided to go back to school. I lost my licenses in August 2006, and I still work at an insurance office! =) I really like being more "secretarial" now and putting people on hold for "one of the licensed agents" LOL LOL LOL
