Jay Can Do It! - Weight Loss Diary

Buhhhhhh..


So today I was watching TV and I noticed this odd scent that smelled like strong soap. I ignored it thinking that it was just the couch, but the smell got stronger and stronger. I spent a good 20 minutes sniffing the couch, my clothes, and all the fabrics around me, but I was unable to find the source. So for a good 2 hours I tried to ignore it, thinking that it was just me or something and that my nose was sensitive.


After a good TV session, I went to the bathroom and I saw a long light blue river of fabric softener trailing its way to the door. I thought to my self "oh no...". I ran to the laundry room.


The floor was COVERED in fabric softener, and in the corner of the laundry room I could see our industrial-sized Downy bottle flipped upside down with a crack down the middle of the container.


So yeah..that's how I spent my morning. I cleaned the whole thing up, and now I smell like a lovable teddy bear.


...I think I'm too exhausted for a workout...

I, on the other hand lost nothing this week, so ate my own body weight in chocolate!!!! Whoops!!!

Good Morning!



My mom headed out to work today for the first time in over 5 months, so the house is a bit quiet and lonesome. I had to really motivate myself to exercise, and I only managed 2 miles. I'm going to do another 5 miles (vigorous version) in a few.



I forgot to defrost the chicken yesterday, so I'm only going to eat some bread and whatever my grandmother cooks.



Hmm..that's it. I don't really have anything else to say o_o.

Not really. Apart from me having zero experience in the exercise field and having to do some research, I do have a bit of a back problem. I guess my back cannot support my upper body or something. Because of this I'm using Leslie Sansone's DVDs rather than the traditional run. It's really a minor problem, so I guess I can count myself lucky.






I dropped a pound! :)

Hey guys! I woke up this morning to try on my new Calvin Klein jacket I bought myself. It was a whopping $100 some dollars, but I decided to treat myself with something other than food for once.

Thing is, "beauty" is to subjective to be defined by any means. It really depends on the person and what he/she considers beautiful.






Had Four Fails Today




I didn't exercise.

I went to Subway and saw in the Calories that the sub was only 380 Calories. And I was like "WOAH. That's an awesome breakfast!". So I ate the whole thing. However, it looks like it was 380 for only the 6" sub, not the whole footer! So I actually ate 760 Calories for breakfast.

I went to a Buffet with my parents to celebrate my mom's first day of work (actual work, not training). I was better than last time, but still, WOOPS.

Went to Fast food later in the day for my little brothers after they came home. I didn't get anything, but I got a cup of ice cream. Did you know Ice Cream had so many calories? I sure as hell didn't.

You dropped another lb!!!! You snuck that in your post rather quietly, i hardly noticed it!!!! Well done you!! :hurray: I would have Made much more of an issue of it :)

Looking at your picture, you don't look big at all. How much are you aiming to lose?
 
Thanks! I actually added that lb drop a little later in the night yesterday so no worries. It actually surprised me considering I had JUST reached 210 lbs the day before. Oh, my body. So silly.


Lumpia is a Filipino Egg Roll about 4 or 5 inches long and an inch thick. It has vegetables in it, but the thing is it's deep fried. So I'm trying not to eat too much of it hah. It looks like this:





I don't like big at all? It MUST be the jacket. So glad I bought it xD. I'm actually trying to get to 140-160lbs, so I want to lose another 30-50lbs. Right now I'm not too big, but there are bulges on my body that should not be there. And my chest is still kind of lumpy. My main goal right now is to lose my stomach and get some muscle definition.

Day 30 - 10 facts about you! And now, what are your stats?




I used to live in Guam when I was smaller, up until the age of seven. Then I moved to Washington, and boy are the two places different.

I am a Filipino American, and yet I don't know how to speak my ethnic language. :(

My favorite taste in food is saltiness, and my least favorite is bitter and sweet. If there's an emergency and you need me, you'll find me snacking at the Chips aisle.

I HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, CELERY. It's a bit sweet, a bit bitter, and it tastes like rubber.

When I was 10 years old someone sent me a link via email. It was a screamer (a video that ends with a very loud scream, meant to scare the viewer. Usually accompanied with a scary photo). At the end of that screamer was a picture of Linda Blair from the movie "The Exorcist". Ever since then I have had a phobia of Linda Blair and her face. Even thinking about it makes the hairs on my back rise. And sometimes, if I meet someone who looks like Linda Blair I wouldn't even look at their face. It's horrible.

I am a huge fan of Asian music. My favorite singer is Utada Hikaru, and group Big Bang and 2NE1. I'm not a fan of American music, usually because I hear it every day and it gets boring (plus the context of some music is just too inappropriate, even for me).

When I was 8 I was reading a book with very thick, almost-cardboard pages. I didn't wear glasses at the time. As I turned the page the paper gave me a papercut right below the black part of my eye ball. It hurted like hell, but hey, I was able to dress up as a pirate and no one gave me lip about it.

I used to play Neopets when I was 10. Then, early this year, I played for about a month, trying to make the website fun again. It didn't work.

When I lived in Guam, my family and I used to live in a house that was built on top of a Graveyard, with an accompanying Graveyard right next to it. There have been...interesting moments in that house. Numerous times my parents, brothers, and I would hear things. Sometimes gun shots, some times whimpering. Since Guam was the site of war during WWII, we would see soldiers at the corner of ours eyes, and when we turned they weren't there. If you want a good ghost story, I could tell you a few of my personal memories.

I am a huge fan of RPGs, and MMORPGs. I have played Online games like Runescape, FlyFF, Aika, Corum Online, Battleon. As for regular store-bought games, the list goes on and on. Nowadays I barely play games, apart from the occasional League of Legends Session.

No you don't look big but good for you for aiming for perfection :) This is the first time ever that i am actually aiming to not be fat anymore!! Before, whenever i have lost weight it has always been just a bit and i have always stayed fat. This time i am not gonna be fat any more, so i totally get what you are saying.

I am not happy with my height, mainly because everyone around me are like giants. I'd like to reach 6 ft at the very least, but seeing that I'm already 18 I don't think it will happen. I'm just afraid that when I get fit and healthy I won't be as intimidating xD.







ANYONE KNOW WHY I'M GETTING ACNE?!



I'm eating wayyy better now than I was before (barely any oil apart from poly and mono), and yet, FACIAL HERPES GALORE. It's really irritating, and it hurts whenever I touch my face. And I like touching my face =/.

Those Lumpia's look good ._. I love spring rolls and egg rolls.

I'm new here and I was checking out the weight loss diaries and saw your acne question... and from looking at your food diary, it could be caused from what you're eating. Your diet has a lot of carbs and dairy, both of these have been tied to acne production :( (I know, it's kinda tragic! I love my carbs too! ;) ) Dairy causes an increase in hormones, the same hormones that are produced during puberty, and your body signals for an increased production of oil. A similar thing happens with the carbs, they increase blood sugar levels and ultimately (fast forward through all the science-y stuff ;) ) lead to increased oil production. It's just an idea, but you could try balancing out your diet more and see if that helps? Good luck :)


Also, I like the questions -- what's the story behind them? Are they for everyone?

I actually started answering questions on day 7 since I thought it was just a bunch of fun questions to answer. But apparently not since you have to measure yourself and all. I was playing the game wrong all this time XD.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO =( But I loves my cheese.


It would make sense though. I haven't been drinking milk or consuming dairy before the diet, but after I figured I needed Calcium, so I tried a bit. Thanks for the tip.


But as for carbs...Do I really need to lose them? I mean, living without diary is one thing, but without rice or bread is like a stab in the face ;/ Would brown rice or whole wheat bread do? I guess I should do more research.

I actually don't have a picture. The basis of my motivation came in a dream I had (check my very first post if you want to know about it). Long story short though, I was fit, I had abs, I was a doctor and I looked and felt great. It was the best dream I've had in a while.



My goal now is to become that person my subconscious created. I am already taking medical classes, so all that's left is transformation.

Heck no! I am waaaay too much of a carb addict myself to ever suggest cutting out carbs! (oh, and I've tried it- it just makes me cranky and leaves me needing pizza! ;) ) But it might help to reduce them a little and bring in other types of food - a standard recommendation is that only 55% of your calories come from carbs. Also, yeah, the type of carbs you are eating will make a difference, things made with flour will shoot your blood sugar up super fast because they digest fast since they have already been ground up, unprocessed carbs, like long grain rice have more of a slow release effect on your blood sugar.

Same thing with the cheese, everything in moderation, you might just try cutting less and less until you find a happy medium- and if it's not enough calcium you could try a daily vitamin with calcium- it would give you iron too which is crazy important for all that cardio!

And, ooooo I'm curious as to what kind of medical classes you are taking? I'm a genetics major, but it's a pre-med program so I've had to take all those insane pre-med courses (O Chem- ugh!)
It's not easy, but it sure is interesting!

Oh, and I don't mean to jump ahead of myself. By taking I mean I enrolled and I'm going to take them when I get my pre-requisites done xD. I'm taking Nursing for now since that's all I can afford. After though, I really, really want to get into Pediatrics.


I don't think I can survive pre-med classes. Just think about it gives me a headache... ( and don't even talk about Chemistry hah. I took High School Chem way back when and I got a C average in that class. Eesh!)

Okay so here's the reason why today is such a fail for me.



This morning I ate homemade chicken nuggets. Why? Because my body was craving for something deep fried. I don't know why, but it was such a strong craving I had to do it. Then at lunch I had more Chicken Nuggets, plus some white rice. Now that it's about 1AM I'm starting to realize how dumb I was for eating all that bad stuff lol.



*So I'm just going to say I ate 1000 calories worth of Chicken Nuggets, just to be safe. I know I didn't eat that much but I don't want to underestimate.



Tomorrow is weight day. I highly doubt I dropped another pound, but you know, my body might surprise me.

Day 04 - Your greatest fears about weight loss.



I don't really have a "great" fear, but I do worry about being able to maintain my weight. I'm big now so a little cheat now and then isn't going to kill me. But when I'm skinnier, and my calorie intake to maintain my weight is much, much lower, it'll be harder to not indulge without totally ruining the day.



I'm sure I'll get used to the calories sooner or later. I just hope it's sooner.

Oh man. Those Chicken Nuggets really slapped me in the face this morning. I feel awful, lol! I just want to clear it out of my system already.

Didn't I answer this question already? o_O Oh well.



I want to lose weight because I want to be healthy and well. I want to be able to like myself, and like my body, and feel confident when I walk into a room or present in front of people. I don't want to have to suck in my gut whenever I'm in public, or have to unbutton my pants and tie a rubber band around the ends because they don't fit anymore.



I don't want to have to sigh every time I go clothes shopping, and seeing that I went up another two sizes. I don't want to have to see people look me up and down, and smirk. I just don't want any of that. I'm done with it, and soon I'll be the person I want to be.



And am I doing for myself?



Hell yeah.







Today I tried on a sweater I bought a while ago, and I actually fit it now! That makes me so happy haha.

Happy Halloween everyone! =) I hope you guys are having an awesome, but safe candy-stuffing day. But make sure you don't go too far on the Snickers.

I don't really binge (except when I go to a Buffet...but I'm making a financial decision so that doesn't count! :cuss:). However, I DO cheat a lot xD. There's so much junk food around my house I have to confine myself to the bottom portion of the fridge where all the healthy stuff is. For example, just yesterday we bought a tub full of potato salad, a jug of mayo, and a couple bags of potato chips.



I'm getting really good at cheating though. Nowadays I could eat a couple of chips and I'm done, whereas before I could eat the whole bag by myself!







I tried out some Spaghetti Squash today! It was so good, and with my homemade low calorie spaghetti sauce, I only consumed 187 calories for lunch. And I'm FULL!



If you don't know what Spaghetti Squash is, it's like an angel hair pasta sort of thing. It's crunchy, slightly sweet, and has the aroma of potatoes. But it's really good, and good for you. It's also only 42 calories per cup, so if you're a pasta lover you should DEFINITELY check it out. Below is a video showing how to cook spaghetti squash:
