Janvier's Weight loss Diary

So glad to have you back on board to losing! I'm feeling it's going to be a good end of April for a lot of us.

Thank you Lisa! I finally feel back on board and I agree with you, we are going to end April strong! I am feeling ready to really get serious again and my goal of June (probably mid June) to get to my goal weight is around the corner and I am determined to reach it! Another boost is that I just booked a trip to Vegas for a week in July and I NEED to look and feel hot in a new bikini- so its time for us both to work hard, you have your big day and I have my June goal so lets do this!! By the way I get lots of tips from you too! Just this weekend I had two hard boiled egg whites for lunch with a little ff mayo, salt and peper. I love egg salad and gave it up to avoid all of the fat in the yolks and never ever thought of just eating the hard boiled whites lol, so thank you for that!

Hello, just got finished reading your diary, and even though my eyes hurt from this computer I had to give you a shout and tell you how amazing I think you have done with your weightloss. I am 5'2 and now at 189, and it is such a rocky road. I had a baby 5 months ago and it seemed like the scale just didn't want to budge, but I'm on my way, and reading a diary like yours is very inspiring, keep up the good work.

Hi njoyabl,

Thank you for taking the time to read my diary- I'm sure it took some time lol. I know just know you feel, i am pretty much your height, a tad shorter and I started at your weight so I can really relate. I know it seems imposible right now, I know that I never ever thought I would see the person I see when I look in the mirror now but you can and will do this, you deserve to see the person you want to see stairing back at you! I am glad to hear that you on on your way, I agree that it is a rocky road but it is very worth the ride! Thank you for considering my diary inspiring, that means so much to me! Keep working hard, you will get there!

So yesterday was great! I stuck to my meals all day and did not feel the need to snack to no extent at all like I had been feeling for the last couple weeks. I took a nap after dinner- its so hard working all day when you don't feel 100% well- and I felt much better when I woke up and it gave me the energy I needed to change into my workout clothes and get moving. I did an hour on the stair stepper and burned 775 calories and was going to the basement to do turbo jam and found my mom just about to start her 2 mile "walk away the pounds" tape- which I thought was cute, she doesn't usually workout but is going away in May and wants to lose a few pounds. I really don't like the tape, its just way too easy and I don't break a sweat doing it, but since she was using the tv I thought I would join in and do the whole thing with 2 5lbs dumbells- well I was sweating buckets! So I felt good about my workout and plan to continue doing well this week. Here is what today looks like:

Breakfast: 1 packet instant oatmeal with 1/2 cup of frozen blueberries and a large cup of coffee

Snack: 1 mango diced and ff yogurt

Lunch: 3/4 cup of dry cheerios and bistro express rice

Snack: banana and small salad

Snack 2: cucumber slices

Dinner: sauteed cabbage, steamed veggies and WW smart ones

Workout: hour and a half stair stepper during the biggest loser and turbo jam if the tv is free afterwards

Thank you Lisa! Your so sweet! I wish I had guys all over me lol, I'm working on getting out more and being less anti-social and more outgoing. I actually think I developed a work crush :blush5:! I am totally excited for Vegas! It is going to be a huge motivation to whip my body into shape! When I went to Costa Rica it was my first time in a bikini ever and I was totally paranoid- I kept thinking that I should of been in a one piece and that everyone was going to stare at me and judge me and this time I just want to put it on, feel great and confident and not be constantly thinking about my weight and insecurities so I have some work to do to get the body of my dreams! Thank you for the wonderful compliments and encouragement!

So Yesterday was Great! This week has been going really well for me and I feel really good about that and just feel back in the swing of things-Finally! I stuck to my meal plan yesterday- no cheating :hurray:- and I did an hour and a half on my stepper during the BL and burned 1235 calories! I was drenched with sweat and my legs were aching but I pushed through and felt great for it. I still had some energy left afterwards even though I could hardly walk down the stairs lol and did 30 minutes of Hip Hop Abs cardio. It was fun and since I was already sweaty it made me sweat it out 10x more so It was a good workout day. Today is going well, I have the same meals planned as yesterday so no need to right it out. Tonight I plan to do an hour stepping and 40 mins of Hip Hop abs with weights- I think all of the stepping is giving me some definition in my calfs so I'm pretty happy about that. My mom is turning 60 on friday and she wants our family to drive to buffalo for the weekend- I am looking forward to a fun weekend but am concerned about having to eat out while we're there. I'm planning to bring some healthy snacks, but i'm worried about the actual meals- I really don't want to ruin my hard work from this week- I guess i'll worry about that later. Happy Wednesday everyone!

Great day yesterday and awesome you are finally back into the swing of things!! That feeling is great so let's keep it up! I'm so excited for you and your bikkini! You are totally going to rock it! What hotel are you staying at? Do you like gambling or are you going more for partying and site seeing? I love gambling and usually try to get into a couple texas hold'em tournaments while I'm down there. Last time I came in 5th out of 49 players and was the last girl - it was so much fun but I didn't win anything. I'm so jealous and wish I was coming with you!
About this weekend just make sure not too snack too much if you are having bigger meals. Try to get someone in your family to split the meal with you or put half in take away container as soon as it comes. Just try to stay focused on your goals and if you mess up just try harder at the next meal - not the next day! You can do it! Have a great day and keep it up!!!

Have an awesome weekend Janvier! I'm going to do even better than last weekend - no tarts, chocolate or chips! and lots of exercise!! Have a good one!:seeya:

Lisa I'm happy to finally be back in the swing of things too! It feels so much better than feeling sorry for myself. I'm excited for my bikini too, when I wore one in Costa Rica I was 137 lbs so I am already 10 lbs lighter and hoping to look 10 times better by the time we get there. We are staying at the Four Seasons, one of my friends that I am going with works at the corporate office so we are staying there for 5 days for free!!! I am not much of a gambler, I always feel like i'm putting my money into something with no gaurentee of getting anything for it, and I don't know how to play anything but slots and black jack so I will have to play a little, I cant go to vegas and not gamble. If I had your skills I would be more up for it! Thats amazing, 5th out of 49??? Your really good! I think I do plan to do more partying and site seeing. I wish you were coming too! We could of tried out some summer wear that we would of never ever worn as our former selves. Thank you for the great tips for this weekend, I have all intentions to take your advice and do well this weekend dispite being put in situations where I would normally go over board with food. I'm so glad to hear that you will do even better this weekend, I want to do well with you, so lets do it! Have a great weekend!

So I weighed in this morning at 127 lbs- down 1 lb this week- I'm not thrilled that it wasn't more but I am not upset because it was a loss. I was hoping for 126, but I know why I didn't get there and I plan to get there next week!

Yesterday I kept trying to update on my day but my boss was over my shoulder all day, I have the day off today so I have some time. Yesterday started great, stuck to my meals and had intentions to workout after dinner. My dad called me at work and told me that he asked some family and friends to come to their house at 9pm for wine and snacks for my moms birthday and asked me to pick up snacks-ugh! I didn't want to because I wanted to not put myself into tempting situations, but It was for my mom so I did it, I tried to keep it healthy but fun- I picked up slices of turkey, chicken, roast beef, salami and pastrami and cheese slices, avacadoes, cucumbers, tomatos, strawberries, pineapple and tuna to make a little tuna salad. I also bought heathy versions of crackers-whole wheat ritz, whole grain triskets and melba toast rounds. I rolled all the meats and cheeses, sliced the cucumbers and tomatos, made the tuna salad and some guacamole, slices the strawberries and pineapple and put it all out with wine, it looked great and tasted great, I snacked on the crackers and cheese (so did my dog lol) while I made everything and some of the calories and fat in thoses cheeses blew my mind-about 30 g of fat for 3 slices!- so I told myself I would not eat too much of it. I decided that I wouldn't eat dinner and just have some more of what I had put out which I did. I didn't over eat but it was a lot mor fat then I am used to. My dad brought a cake and I had a small slice and ate 3/4 of that slice. More people ended up showing up then planned so we had to make some chicken wings and I didn"t try even one! I would of usually had like 8. I didn't get to workout since they stuck around until midnight and I stayed to help clean up then came home. Tonight my mom and sister and myself are off to buffalo for the night and are doing some shopping tomorrow, I mostly plan on getting some healthy snacks that we don't get in canada so I am looking forward to that. I plan on going on a walk and possibly the stair stepper before we leave and I need to do some vacuming so that will be my workout for today. I plan to do well this weekend even in the face of temptation. Have a happy and healthy weekend everyone.

Hi Janvier, I've been reading your story and I have to tell you how impressed I am :) I know how hard it is to carry around nearly 200 lbs on a small 5"1 frame.....because that's where I am today - 193lbs, 5"1. It's overwhelming, but seeing how far you've come is proof that it can be done. You look amazing :)

Hi Skinny,

Thank you for your post and compliments, it means a lot to me that you are impressed with my story. I have definitly walked around for years with that weight on my small frame and your so right, it was extreamly overwhelming and exhausting, but your right that it can be done, even if you have doubts, because I sure did. You seem to be off to a great start, and this is a great place for motivation and support. I look forward to following your journey!

So its Monday,

I spent my weekend in Buffalo and was faced with ALOT of temptations, and to be honest I didn't turn down all. The worst thing I ate was a huge cookie from dunkin' donuts. I had subway for lunch on Saturday which was good and had fajitas for dinner. I wouldn't of felt so bad about my choices if I didn't eat until I felt like I was going to pop, but its a new week, I shouldn't be in anymore tempting situations for a while and I plan to do great this week and from this point onwards. I didn't get a single workout in this weekend so I have so work to do to make up for it.

At work one of my friends enrolled me into a work health challange; you create groups of 4-10 people and daily you all have to log into this website and you get points for drinking water, eating fruits and veggies and working out for 30-60 minutes a day. You can get group prizes for doing well. I wasn't too keen on being enrolled, but one the only male on our team is really cute and I think I have a little crush on him so I can look forward to spending some time with him (its so fun to have a crush again!) and also it will keep me working out daily so thats a plus-the downside is that my group decided to do a weekly potluck lunch- which could of been okay, but then everyone decided that we are just going to order a weekly pizza instead!!! What the heck??? How is that healthy? So I'm a little concerned because I don't want to eat it, not even a little because I don't feel like I need it, its not something I crave and I don't want to get a taste for it and keep wanting it, and I also don't want to look the the girl that doesn't eat because they already think that...well it starts next week so I have some time to think about what to do- I'm thinking that I say that I will bring in a big salad for everyone and see what they think of that....anyway, here is what today looks like:

Breakfast: ff yogurt and 110 cals of popcorn clusters

Snack: apple and skinny water

Lunch: uncle bens bistro express

Snack: mango chunks

Dinner: lean cusine and steamed veggies

Workout: stepper and trubo jam

I noticed that you always usually do an hour of stair stepper and then one of the beach body workouts. The stair stepper is a machine that I have always completely shyyed away from when working out, even when I was small and worked out. I just hate doing legs. So what I'm asking is, how does that work out for you? I've also been concerned about losing all my butt before anything else and looking really funny! And then secondly, how long did it take for you to build up your endurance for all of this. I've kinda slacked off from doing what I am supposed to, working out and I've been craving some really crappy stuff. I'm going to the gym today, and like every other day, I'm going to stair at the chick wearing herself out on the stair stepper; but maybe, I'll try it this time.

Your diary is super long and I can't remember from reading before if you ever mentioned taking any vitamins. If you do, what do you take? Thanks and great job.

Hi Njoyabl,

Your post made me laugh because I lost my butt way before I started using the stair stepper, I lost it pretty evenly with all of my other womanly curves lol, but I totally understand your concern about that. I actually hate doing legs too but LOVE the stair stepper! I mostly feel it in my calfs and my thighs but it has really created some definition in my calfs, thighs and butt! However, I do feel like it is a whole body workout because I try not to hold onto the bars and move my arms like I would when I'm running which makes me sweat like crazy. I don't think it will make you lose only your butt, if anything it will give you a really great and defined butt! When I started my weight loss almost a year and a half ago I would only work out 20 minutes a day and only did workout dvds, And monthly I would add a little bit onto that, even just by 10 minutes, when It got to the point that I didn't have dvds that were long enough I started adding the tredmill and elyptical and now my stepper so it was definitley a work in progress to build up my endurance- plus I am carrying a body that weighs 60 lbs less which makes it easier to last longer. You will get there, it just takes time. I think you should give it a try, you can be that chick wearing herself out! All you have to do is tell yourself your going to try it, if you only last 2 minutes then hey thats a 2 minute accomplishment! If you want to get good at anything you have to practice, so if its 2 minutes this week, it can be 3 minutes next week. I only last on it with a distraction, since I have it at home I tell myself I will last a tv show, sometimes 2 or 3 will pass and i'm still on it, but it takes time and practice. so maybe try lasting a song, before you know it you will be doing an entire album. I do take vitamins, I take a multi vitamin, vitamin c, b6 and b12, I used to take flax seed as well to get in some healthy fat since my diet is so low in fat but haven't had a chance to buy more since I ran out. You should look into some fitness magazines and get some ideas of what vitamins you might want to incorporate into your diet, thats how i decided on mine. Thank you for your post and questions, I hope my answers helped!

Hey there!! Thanks for stopping by, your support means a lot. I'm having a "skinny" day today...lol. I feel great :) I love stopping by your journal, besides the obvious fact that your and inspiration to me, but also because being from Canada as well, I'm actually familiar with the food you're eating...lol. Seems strange to say, but it's good to see healthy choices that I can find at the grocery store :) I hope you had a great day.

Hey Janvier, just stopped by to say hi!!! I hope you have a great week.... Although I'm sure you will. And what's up with this office crush??????? (you must tell more) Any who.......Have a great week!
