So... I did it...
I tore the SHIT out of my hamstring yesterday morning. I can barely walk. I simply just overused it, and then tried to compete on it. Thursday I had my first rugby practice in a LONG time, and was all stiff on friday and saturday. Saturday, I decide to do my normal leg workout, just to work the kinks out of my leg. Despite telling myself that I was going to go light, I end up going balls to the wall on 'em. It felt good, and I felt good. After the workout, I went for a quick little run (4 miles), and then took my dog for a walk (2-3 miles). Still felt great.
Yesterday, after all of that leg use, and after commenting multiple times on how tight my hamstrings felt, I went and played some 2h touch football with a group of uber competitive people (myself included). I was about to tag the man with the ball, and he juked, and I squatted and leaned in to the juke, and started to uncoil hard, and I felt my left hamstring tear like it was paper.
I'm miserable now. It is such a bad tear that I had to take a vicadin just to be able to survive the drive to work. I won't be able to do ANYTHING for at LEAST a week in the weight room, not to mention real cardio / rugby for at least a couple of weeks.
This is pretty much exactly what I was saying was the worst thing that could happen in all of this.
