Jae's super duper weightlos diary

Down to 330

Still doing Turbo Kick, zumba, and body pump and LOVE IT.

Got my mile time down to 15:22!

Thank you! I cant wait to get into the 220's!

No gym today. My daughters got walking pneumonia AND half my towns flooded. Bah

231 today

No gym today either. Daughter still sick and husbands working late. :(
But today is SALAD day so yay.
Going to do some exercises at home.

Change of plans. Made it to the gym, my mother in law watched my daughter.

I HAVE BROKEN INTO THE 220's!!!

As of today, 229!

Good by 230's! No turning back now.

Yes I agree!
Feeling awesome today!

Went to Body Pump and had fun. Did some REAL pushups. I can never do them at home but I can do them in class. I think its the floors and someone yelling at me lol.

I'm double proud of myself because for the past few days i've been, ah... paddling down the red river, as they say. Despite that I STILL went and worked out just as hard. I havent even been tired, cranky, or crampy. Best period ever. :hurray:

Also since i've been regularly working out and eating better, i'm so happy all the time. Its like exercise and good food is a mood booster. I dont get as upset over little things anymore, and i've got so much energy its crazy.

I feel like i'm on the right track and i think working out a little less this week has been good for me. Instead of going twice a day every day I may only go once a day, or skip a day and then do two times a day. Still getting in plenty of cardio and weights.

Since I did body pump this morning i'll do Zumba tonight.

On a final note, there are two YMCAs close to my house. The Clark branch and the New Albany branch. Our membership is with Clark, but the New Albany one accepts us too. The New Albany YMCA is brand new, 3 stories.
Its a little too modern for my taste, BUT they have a little food court.
You can buy fresh fruit (apples, bananas, watermelons, oranges), they've got fresh veggies, cheeses, sandwiches, v8 juice. All very cheap.
After Body pump today I got a fruit smoothie, some string cheese, and some watermelon. All for $3.60 Delicious.

Classes at the gym???

Hi!
I have started reading your dairy and I've really enjoyed it! Keep it up :)

The gym I belong to offers all of those classes that you speak of (body pump, zumba, etc)... but I'm too nervous to go. I'm afraid I'll make a fool of myself bc I won't know what they are doing & everyone there will be a regular who know what to do. How did you start? Which do you recommend for beginners (I'm athletic but new to classes)?

I'm getting sick of my cardio/ strength training routine already.... maybe I should take after you a try a class.

I dont know about supplements, but i've just been doing carido and weights. I'm still learning so i'm not much help.

Oh I totally know how you feel about being nervous! I was so afraid. Just realize that fear cant stop you from doing things. You've got to take the leap. In all of the classes i've taken, the instructors and other people have been very helpful. Just let the instructor know you're new and they will gladly tell you all about the class.
Just know that everyone in that room as new once, and no body gets it perfect the first time. Some of my instructors even mess up sometimes lol.
When i'm new, I set my 'area' up in the back of the class close to the instructor so I can see them in the mirror.
No one in the class is going to judge you or laugh at you or anything. Infact, the instructors keep the pace going so that you only have time to focus on your workout.
Everyone is usually happy to see a new person getting involved.
Once the nervousness wears off and you let yourself relax you will have a ton of fun even if you dont know all the moves.

I'd recommend Body Pump if you've never done a class before. Its not fast or dance so its pretty easy to catch up with. If you've never done it before they recommend using light weights, til you get the hang of everything and figure out what your limit is.
You wont feel the effects of the class til you wake up the next day though, so be prepared you are going to be sore. But proud.

Next would be Zumba. Its usually women participating and its a fun dance class. Not too fast paced, its more about the choreography.

My fave is Turbo Kick. Its also the most fast paced and intricate class at my YMCA. Its really fun though, they just ask that you keep moving even if you cant do all the moves.
I'll be totally honest though, that class was the one I wanted to take the most. I was also most intimidated by it. But then my husband asked if I would do it with him so I did. lol

Official weight lost for week 3: 3 POUNDS!

Total weight loss: 6 POUNDS!

69 to go!
:party::party::party::party:

Things i've learned this week:
I CAN do it.
Eating salad for dinner three nights a week is awesome!
Not eating past 7:30 at night is a surprisingly huge help.
I dont have to go to the gym two times a day and I dont have to try to kill myself while i'm there to lose weight.
I shouldnt force myself to drink water when i'm not thirsty. I'm sure i'm getting plenty.
Even when I mess up and eat a little to much or a little bad, its not going to ruin all the hard work i've done.
Enjoy the experience.

Exactly. I've found that instead of chanting in my head 'Come on dont be lazy push faster do you want to stay fat?' it works better when its more positive like 'You can do it, this is easy, we can go further and harder and it will be great'.

Anyone else have a mental conversation with themselves when they workout? lol

Today I knocked almost another minute off my mile.
It dropped from 15:22 to 14:25
Woooo hoo!

I have inner monologue ADD. I start thinking about something like "You can do this, just x more minutes or miles...ooooh, look at her shoes, I want shoes like those! Oh crap, here comes sweaty spandex man, don't make eye contact..."

Hi Jae, I haven't checked in on you since you started, and it looks like you're doing great.

Good job on those first 6 pounds. Feels great, doesn't it?

Isn't it great how we feel so much better if we work out? Sometimes we don't feel like going, but it is always worth it and we feel a lot better having done it.

All the lessons you have learned this week are good, but the first and last are the most important, I'd say. You absolutely can do it, and you should enjoy the ride!

Keep up the good work!

Oooh my god my BICEPS are in pain.
Thursday in Body Pump I put to much weight on my bar and i'm feeling it now. My muscles hurt so bad and I cant starten my arm. Its like they're flexing even when they're not flexing. Any suggestion?

Hi
Thanks so much for your encouragement and advise on the gym classes!

I'm going to be brave and go to body pump tomorrow at 10am... I will be brave and follow your advise.

Hope all goes well with you!
